We asked people on the streets of Edinburgh what they would change about fireworks laws or would they keep them as they are.
Transcript
00:00 I think fireworks should actually be banned and made illegal, but only for the use of
00:06 disorganised displays.
00:07 And why is that?
00:08 It's health and safety reasons and the young kids don't even know how to behave with them.
00:14 I think they should be legislated, like, you know, over 18s.
00:19 I think as well, I think they just tend to go on sale far too early, so people are already
00:26 letting them off well before people are expecting them.
00:30 Should be a window.
00:31 Yeah, yeah.
00:32 I feel like, you know, like 5th of November, like, start selling them a week before, like,
00:35 they've already been up in supermarkets for the best part of the last few weeks.
00:38 But yeah, I think organised things are good, but also, yeah, it's one of those definitely
00:44 like age limits or people should be being ID'd, but it's like anything, they can still
00:48 get alcohol and they can still get cigarettes.
00:50 So if they want it, they'll get it.
00:53 I think they should be organised only.
00:55 So it shouldn't be sold in shops?
00:57 No, I don't think so.
00:58 I think they're very dangerous.
00:59 We used to, in our village, used to organise a firework night, but we stopped doing it
01:03 because it was just too much hassle, insurance, whatever.
01:07 So I'd go for, you know, fixed events.
01:10 - Yeah.
