00:00 The FA Cup back in the day was a real special thing, but yeah, to me it's sort of lost it
00:07 over the years.
00:08 Some people say it's like Christmas, used to say it's like Christmas Day, you always
00:11 know what you're doing on FA Cup final day, but it's not like it was I don't think.
00:16 Football's not like it was anyway, it's too commercialised, it's too analysed on telly.
00:20 Just go, watch a game, have fun, have a few beers, that's how it should be, but it's not
00:25 like it used to be.
00:27 Back home, I think it's very popular, that's all the talk about, that's why people go out
00:33 to buy the jerseys, it's very popular back home.
00:38 I don't feel like it's more popular than ever, especially the big star players that are in
00:44 the FA Cup.
00:45 I think it's more fashion these days and hype about that, it kind of takes it away from
00:48 football.
00:49 I think David Beckham probably started all that off.
00:52 But yeah, no I don't think it does.
00:55 We watched the Newcastle match here the weekend and it was crazy, there was great support
01:00 for them and the bars were packed and it was just a great time.
01:04 I'll be honest with you, when I was a kid, FA Cup was a big game, now it's all commercialised.
01:13 And so I used to look forward to the FA Cup but I don't really do it any more.
01:19 The FA Cup, I feel like it's kind of lost, I'm more into rugby myself so I don't really
01:26 have much of a comment on that either.
01:29 But when it comes to the FA, I've never really had an interest in it and I think there's
01:34 nothing to revive it.
01:36 I just think it's the FA Cup, all them trophies and all the brilliance, that's just not there.
01:43 It's like if you win it, you're not remembered much, you win the Champions League, you go
01:48 down in history and all that, where's that?
01:52 I mean I've been there and seen it, when Liverpool beat Everton a long, long time back and it
01:57 was great then, you know what I mean?
01:58 But it's changed in every way now, in every way.
02:02 The top clubs who are in the Champions League tend to field weaker teams in the FA Cup and
02:12 it does kind of reduce it to something that it shouldn't be.
02:17 I mean it's the most famous cup in the world, the FA Cup, and you know when you walk down
02:25 Wembley Way there's nothing quite like it.
02:28 So it's a shame that people don't treat it with a bit more respect.
02:33 I do believe that it's all about money these days, isn't it?
02:36 When I hear about the extortionate amount of money that the big, big boys are on, I
02:42 just think that's what all it's about now, isn't it?
02:45 You might be to kick football on the field but actually you're looking at the bank balance,
02:49 I suppose.
02:50 It's not as exciting as it used to be.
02:52 Because I watch only special football matches.
02:58 I don't think it's as good.
03:00 Thanks. (laughs)
