The Government has confirmed that disposable vapes will be banned from sale in England as of June 2025. From then on, it will be illegal to sell single-use vapes. This comes in a move hoped to combat environmental damage and the widespread use of vapes by children. Defra has said that businesses would have until the 1st of June 2025 to sell any remaining stock they hold and prepare for the ban coming into force.

00:29Where we get the calls on the helpline are where people are reporting that their existing
00:34lung condition, if it's asthma or perhaps it's COPD, that they are getting problems
00:40from being around vaping. It actually triggers their conditions in many cases so that's where
00:47we hear the impact.
00:49Well, I think that actually it will reduce the attractiveness of vaping and for those
00:56kids who are moving on to vaping, it's too easy at the moment. These vapes are deliberately
01:02targeted at young children and once they start, nicotine, which is in these vapes, is incredibly
01:09addictive. That's what makes smoking addictive and it's what makes vaping addictive. So the
01:15more that we can move vapes out of the sightline of young people, the more that we can take
01:22easy access away from them, the better, the less likely they are to start and to get addicted
01:28and to keep vaping. So from that point of view, this is really good news.
01:34Just the country in general, how do you think that they will react to this vape ban? What
01:39do you think it'll mean just for everyone?
01:42Well, actually there's a huge amount of support for this ban. We know that the government
01:48who've surveyed on this showed, I think it's something like 70% of people want this ban
01:54in place. They see the litter on the streets, they know the environmental damage.
