First invented in China in 2003, e-cigarettes have since grown into a multi-billion dollar global industry.
For some, they're an alternative to smoking. For others, they’re a way to quit. For others still, they’re just great to use for smoke tricks.
Because they haven't been around for very long, there's still no definitive answer on how safe vaping is.
But the boom times might be about to run out. In recent years, more than 20 countries have enacted some form of ban on vaping.
And now the vape debate has reached the land of its birth.
In Hong Kong, a special autonomous region of China that has a separate legal system, the local government is looking to enact its own ban.
