00:25 The festival started as a celebration and it was Beltane that was the first festival the community did
00:31 back in the 80s and it was a mixture of bringing back the traditional celebrations of the turning
00:37 of the season. Beltane is the one that brings in the summer, the one that we're going to celebrate
00:41 for Samhain is the section of the wheel that is bringing in the winter. Samhain or Samhain or
00:46 there are various different ways of saying it depending on which culture you're coming from
00:49 is the more traditional and kind of old rooted version of what we now know today as Halloween.
00:55 And this celebration is partially honouring that veil getting thin at this time of year and perhaps
01:01 that it's a time that you think of those that have passed, it is that time where things get a little
01:06 bit maybe a little more spooky but it's also we're as a community collecting together to be ready for
01:11 the winter. So the festival itself is also a celebration of a community who have like,
01:19 it's important that we mark these parts of the year and it's important to us as individuals to
01:25 be ready for the winter and feel like we're prepared as a community. What that looks like
01:29 on the night, well that will look like a procession with the Kaliakris goddess at the head
01:34 and then there will be the summer and winter king. So they actually enact the battle between summer
01:39 and winter and no spoilers but I'm really sorry winter normally wins. And so the two kings are
01:47 the embodiment each year everybody represents that differently but the two kings are an embodiment of
01:52 the summer and the winter and it's those two things going head to head and summer realising
01:58 that it's time to to be done and it's winter's turn to step in.
