00:28 It's Halloween and it's time to go raw, doggy.
00:31 You know, one of the first places I reviewed,

00:41 one of the first places I reviewed
00:43 when I started this four years ago was Chris's,
00:47 which is very close to where I live.
00:50 Chris's Red Hots, it's right near the border
00:52 of Belleville and Newark at the entrance
00:55 to Branchbrook Park.
00:57 They still have their truck there,
00:59 but now they have a brick and mortar in Verona, New Jersey.
01:03 And, well, we're gonna give it a try.
01:07 One regret I had, when I reviewed them the first time,
01:10 I was just doing raw dogs.
01:12 Never tried any of their specialty dogs.
01:15 Well, this time, I'm going all in
01:17 as I go raw, doggy at Chris's.

02:24 I'll go with a chili cheese.
02:27 - You wanna do the cowboy chili,
02:29 that one's spicy with peppers on it,
02:31 and beans, or a tomatoe chili?
02:33 - Power chili.
02:34 - Cheese? - Yes.
02:35 - And I'm gonna go with the disco dog.

02:58 Oh, it's gonna be a great old Halloween night, you know?

03:05 but it's a nice treat for a nice hot dog.

04:19 Well, Edgar Allen doesn't like chili dogs,
04:24 and my regret when I reviewed it the first time in a truck
04:28 was I wasn't doing chili dogs yet.
04:30 So let's see how their chili dog is.
04:32 This is the mild chili, there's no beans in it.
04:35 It's chili and cheese, and it's here to please.
04:47 Nice, solid chili.
04:48 Good, and these dogs have good snaps.
04:51 You know, this is what a dirty water hot dog truck should taste.
04:57 It's not something special or spectacular,
05:00 but it's good, it's very good.

05:15 Boiling black cherry, I don't know if I reviewed this yet,

05:49 You know, in New Jersey,
05:53 we have something called disco fries,
05:55 which I don't know if they're around anywhere else.
05:58 It's usually French fries covered in gravy.

06:09 It's basically Canada's poutine.
06:13 Instead of using cheese curds, we use mozzarella.
06:16 Well, they don't have French fries,
06:19 they have potato sticks.
06:20 They still have the gravy!

06:26 Well, let's see how this tastes.
06:30 I wouldn't recommend this.

07:08 Chris has got good hot dogs, very good hot dogs.
07:10 Of course, I look very close to where the truck is,
07:14 and the truck and the brick and mortar
07:18 both are the same quality.
07:20 Good hot dogs, decent hot,
07:24 I mean, these are the hot dogs you want, that you expect.
07:26 I mean, this is what a hot dog should taste like.
07:29 Chili was decent.
07:30 The disco dog, though, which is a special dog,
07:33 I'm not sure if that's a keeper for them,
07:36 but they do, many special dogs here and there.
07:39 They experiment, that's what a hot dog place should do.
07:43 Don't be afraid to strike out, you never know.
07:45 Because when you experiment, you might find something great.
07:50 But they have, overall, I would recommend this place,
07:52 this place is good,
07:53 and they've got a good social media following.
