00:00 Longstanding rivalries, political treachery and bold initiatives in the rise of Prime Minister Datuk Sreyanu Ibrahim
00:09 are chronicled in a book to ensure that these historical moments do not go forgotten.
00:14 The book titled Anwar's Triumphs, the Ascent of Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister, Against All Odds,
00:26 written by Australian criminal lawyer Mark Travel, was launched at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
00:32 on Sunday by Anwar, accompanied by his wife, Datuk Sre Dr Wan Aziza Wan Ismail.
00:38 Travel, in his tribute to Anwar and Dr Wan Aziza, said that the story of Anwar's remarkable journey
00:44 must be told before memories become foggy.
00:47 The interest of this book, and the other books, the three other copies, is that they record for history what actually happened.
00:55 A contemporary account, rather than something written many years after the event when memories become foggy and forgetful.
01:03 Travel was an international observer during Anwar's legal fight against his alleged persecution.
01:09 He also recalled that as a criminal lawyer, he had to write about how former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad
01:16 weaponised criminal charges to bring an end to Anwar's political career.
01:20 Who could believe that after so many years and several significant setbacks, and spending more than 10 years in prison,
01:30 he could end up as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.
01:35 That's something to celebrate, isn't it?
01:40 If you look at the cover of the book, there are two people, two people in that photograph,
01:46 and I wanted them to be there because they're what social media call the ultimate power couple.
01:52 And together, this was their triumph.
01:56 Although, as Dr Si Wan Aziza told me, it was really the triumph for the Malaysian people, for the Reformasi movement.
02:04 It wasn't just a personal triumph.
02:08 The Prime Minister conceded when I interviewed him in January that he couldn't have done what he did,
02:13 or endure the hardships, without the support of his wife.
02:18 The book also narrated the events of what transpired when Anwar and his former foe,
02:23 Dr Mahathir, joined hands to win the 14th General Election.
02:27 Is there another book in the ring?
02:29 Well, four bricks is probably enough, surely.
02:32 But who knows? Malaysian politics is so unpredictable, anything can happen.
02:37 However, I hope for the people of Malaysia that their nation can thrive with an honest and stable government.
02:43 After so many years of turmoil, they deserve peace and prosperity.
02:48 Malaysia needs proper governance to restore its confidence in the future,
02:54 and why Ibrahim offers the best choice for it.
02:58 At the same event, Khatun-i Zuna, whose name is Zulkifli Anwar Haig,
03:02 also presented a video on the works of Zuna, Anwar triumphs.
03:06 He narrated why and how he drew the cartoons,
03:09 which became popular throughout the Reformasi movement period.
03:13 How come? So this is, this is take verbatim from record.
03:18 The full.
