00:00 harder to play a team when they're coming off a big loss like that?
00:03 They're more motivated maybe.
00:05 >> I mean, sometimes it is.
00:08 Once again, I don't think that that's really a big signal for anything.
00:12 I think we still gotta do what we gotta do.
00:14 And it can mean something for that team, negatively or positively.
00:19 So for us, it's just worrying more about what we have to do to execute versus
00:23 whether or not they'll have momentum or lack thereof.
00:26 >> How much of a lift of having Jimmy back help us on this?
00:32 >> I mean, for us right now, it's about working with whoever's in there.
00:36 But definitely having Jimmy,
00:37 somebody that's he's had the most experience with this office so far.
00:41 [INAUDIBLE]
00:46 >> Going into the season,
00:48 we asked you so much about your relationship with him.
00:51 You spoke highly of him and knowing that he was recovering and stuff.
00:58 But now you've been through a few games, you've had some ups and downs.
01:01 How's your relationship with Jimmy?
01:03 >> It's still good.
01:04 I always say, Jimmy, he's not perfect, nobody is.
01:07 He's done all the right things to make it easy playing with him as far as
01:11 getting in meeting rooms and taking accountability.
01:14 There's been a couple times where I've taken some shots and everybody's seen that.
01:18 The way he talks about it with me, it makes me feel a lot better after.
01:22 It's not something he's out there trying to do, but
01:24 just gotta make sure we're taking advantage of every opportunity to do it
01:27 the right way so we can continue to build that relationship.
01:31 It's not easy going out there, especially, like I said,
01:33 without the reps that I have with Derrick going into the season.
01:38 It's definitely an adjustment and something to get used to, but
01:41 I'm still looking forward to it to build.
01:44 >> As far as the offensive struggles go,
01:46 is it too simple to say, should we be more aggressive?
01:48 Is that something you look at in terms of what we can do better going forward?
01:52 >> I mean, that's definitely a piece of it, but
01:54 a piece of it is just executing it at the call.
01:56 It's obviously something we can do to put ourselves in the best positions as possible,
02:01 but at the end of the day, we can't make excuses about the call.
02:04 We're playing a similar brand of ball as last year, just executing it at a much
02:09 lower level, and that's something we can do as players.
02:13 I definitely think they can do as coaches to help us and
02:15 put us in better positions, but we're all working at that together.
02:19 >> How hard is that to accept and
02:20 find that you guys can't execute it at the same level?
02:23 >> It's frustrating, but it is what it is.
02:26 You just gotta do something about it.
02:27 You can sit there and cry and complain about this and that, but
02:31 at the end of the day, that doesn't make you better as a team.
02:35 You come together as a team to be able to fix it, so
02:38 you just gotta be solution-oriented and not just complaining and crying about it.
02:43 >> When there have been rough offensive weeks this season, and
02:46 you wanna get into the field real big and kind of critique it, how do you make sure
02:50 that a week like last week isn't just kind of the same thing that we're hearing from
02:54 other bad weeks and that it brings more truth?
02:58 >> It's a great question.
02:59 That's what we're trying to figure out, and
03:01 it's just about accountability from every single person in this building.
03:05 I gotta say, I gotta make that play in the end zone, and I gotta truly feel that way,
03:10 and do something about it the next time, and we gotta take care of the ball better.
03:14 And it's just a series of things that we have to make sure we hone in
03:17 individually to improve.
03:20 If everybody takes that burden and that responsibility seriously,
03:25 that's when you get it.
03:26 That's when things flip around, and
03:27 you have times where, right a few years ago, one of those five games to get into
03:32 the playoffs, and that's all you need is an opportunity to get in the show.
03:36 And at that, once you got a chance at it, we're a long ways from that right now.
03:41 We're still good, but that's the idea, so that you can, in essence, turn it around.
03:45 >> Is it more frustrating?
03:47 Cuz you look around, why are we in this position right now,
03:50 considering the talent that's there?
03:53 >> Yeah, I mean, that's why I'm frustrated every week, and
03:55 that's why you see the frustration after games.
03:57 It wouldn't be the same if we had not a good staff and
04:02 we didn't have a good roster, but we haven't.
04:05 So we just gotta figure out what it is to run the best suits we're doing.
04:11 Anytime, whatever it's called, we gotta go out there and
04:12 find a way to make it work.
04:13 And that's what we did last year.
04:14 We didn't win every game, but
04:16 we were much more efficient on offense than we are now.
04:18 So more people can lock in on ways to fix it and fix their part.
04:22 And it'll all be good.
04:24 >> When you look at the tape, is it as complex or
04:28 do you kinda see the answer for that?
04:30 >> Yeah, we see it.
04:31 It's just about doing it.
04:32 I mean, football's not about how good you are, it's about how good you play.
04:37 You have the opportunity to get that one on one.
04:39 Sure, you can say on paper, 17, you're supposed to beat this guy.
04:42 But if I don't do it consistently, well then we got a problem.
04:46 Yeah, we want certain matchups, but when you get them,
04:48 you gotta do something about it.
04:49 You get zoned, you gotta be able to adjust.
04:52 Part of what we do, the coach's job is to give us the looks that we are anticipating
04:56 throughout the week, and that's just one of the ones.
05:00 It's to try to give us the best opportunity to go out there and
05:03 see what the game's gonna look like.
05:05 And a lot of times it's not gonna be that,
05:07 because they're just giving you what the numbers say.
05:10 They don't say that they gotta do the same thing every time.
05:12 So our part as players is to go out there and make it work and
05:15 assess what the coverage is and find a way to make every play work.
05:20 We have good plays, but we gotta make sure we have good execution.
05:22 >> And not to point any fingers, but
05:23 isn't that true right out now in whatever position you're talking about?
05:27 >> 100%, I mean it's from every position in the building.
05:30 I mean the general manager, the head coach, the strength coach,
05:33 everybody plays a role in this thing.
05:35 Obviously the players play the biggest role, so that's why I say at the end of
05:38 the day I'll never sit here and point fingers and say, you gotta call better
05:41 stuff, you gotta have this, you gotta have that.
05:44 At the end of the day, when a play comes in, it's time to introduce them about it.
05:48 South of Bordeaux in a difficult place.
