00:00 Russellman, all Bearcats reporter here talking to UC
00:03 linebacker Dorian Jones on talking to uh talking cats
00:06 with Russellman. Dorian, you've been consistent there
00:09 in the middle over the past few weeks. Obviously, the the
00:12 team is not getting the wins that you guys want but overall,
00:16 how is the defense? Do you guys feel like you're you're
00:19 progressing and especially feels like the run defense is
00:22 it's kinda where you guys are are almost wanting it to be at
00:25 but the past defense and the explosives are still a work in
00:27 progress. 100%. We're we're doing a great job with the run
00:30 stop defense and we are progressing in in where we need
00:34 to be as far as the passing goes and as a whole, we're
00:38 playing together and playing complimentary football like we
00:41 definitely are trending in the right direction. When you look
00:43 at this Oklahoma State team and Ollie Gordon obviously stands
00:47 out immediately. Over 250 rushing yards last week. Mm
00:50 hmm. In that crucial frame, the fourth quarter when everybody's
00:52 tired, he puts up over 150. Mm hmm. What does that tell you
00:56 guys as a defense and how are you guys approaching this match
00:59 up on the road at night, a big environment on national TV? It
01:02 tells us that we have to prepare for a four-quarter
01:07 game as you do every game, you know, it tells us that he's a
01:10 great player, you know, and when we have to do a good job
01:12 getting every single hat on him and on the football. So, and if
01:17 we don't do that, that's exactly what happens. When you
01:20 look at your game this year, what's kinda the biggest thing
01:23 you're trying to clean up moving forward for the rest of
01:25 the season? I think I need to clean up my drops as far as
01:28 pass game goes. I need to get a little bit a little bit cleaner
01:31 with my with my depth. Okay. You know, and and making moves
01:34 off of the zone, you know, off of the quarterback. You're
01:37 talking about? Mm hmm. Not not just in zone like in zone and
01:39 open field. Yeah. So, just moving off of that quarterback
01:42 indicator. What's the toughest part about playing about being
01:46 a in coverage as a linebacker? Is it the the mismatches you
01:49 sometimes have to deal with? It's not even the mismatches. I
01:52 think the toughest part is that you you have a run
01:56 responsibility and a pass responsibility. So, especially
01:59 when you know, when you're on a certain down, say like it's
02:03 maybe second and or maybe first and ten, you know, and like,
02:07 you're getting that heavy run read and coming down and then
02:11 you see that play action. It's kinda hard to get back
02:13 sometimes because you're already at the line of
02:15 scrimmage. Right. So, getting back into a pass coverage is
02:17 double as hard. Is Ollie Gordon the top thing that stands out
02:21 to you as playing your position going up against this offense
02:24 or what's the biggest thing that stands out? It's not him.
02:26 It's him and it's the the O line. The O line is a great a
02:29 great group. They're an experienced group. So, that
02:32 combination is really what sticks out. Doreen Jones, UC
