00:00 speaker pursuant to clause 2a1 of rule 9, I seek recognition to give notice of my
00:05 intent to raise a question of the privileges of the house. The form of the
00:10 resolution is as follows. A resolution censuring representative Rashida Tlaib
00:21 for anti-semitic activity, sympathizing with terrorist organizations, and leading
00:27 an insurrection at the United States Capitol complex. Whereas in May 2019
00:33 Rashida Tlaib said that she celebrated the Holocaust and felt a calming feeling
00:40 when thinking about the genocide of millions of Jews. Whereas in 2020 Rashida
00:46 Tlaib retweeted an illustration with the caption "from the river to the sea
00:51 Palestine will be free" and this Palestine Liberation Organization PLO
00:57 slogan has been adopted by Hamas and calls for the elimination of Israel and
01:03 death to all Jews. Whereas in September 2022 Rashida Tlaib as a member of the
01:11 Congressional Progressive Caucus displayed her disdain for Israel saying
01:16 "you cannot claim to hold progressive values yet back Israel's apartheid
01:21 government." Whereas instead of denouncing the horrors of Hamas,
01:26 slaughtering Israelis, and demanding the release of all hostages held by Hamas,
01:30 Rashida Tlaib stated on October 8th 2023 "the path to the future must include
01:37 lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and dismantling the apartheid
01:43 system that creates the suffocating dehumanizing conditions that can lead to
01:48 resistance." Whereas Rashida Tlaib exhibited her hatred for America by
01:54 reposting a message on October 12th 2023 blaming America for allowing the deaths
02:01 of Palestinian babies at the hands of Israel. Whereas Rashida Tlaib led an
02:07 insurrection at the United States Capitol complex on October 18th 2023
02:13 which put members of Congress, their staffs, and Capitol visitors in danger by
02:18 shutting down elevators, stairwells, and points of egress while obstructing
02:23 official business in both the House of Representatives and the Senate including
02:29 a Senate Foreign Affairs Committee hearing. Whereas the insurrection led by
02:34 Rashida Tlaib was organized by Jewish Voice for Peace which the Anti-
02:40 Defamation League calls a radical anti-Israel activist group that
02:46 advocates for a complete economic, cultural, and academic boycott of the
02:51 state of Israel and that believes Israeli policies and actions are
02:56 motivated by deeply rooted Jewish racial chauvinism and religious supremacism.
03:03 Whereas members of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a far-left nonprofit
03:08 organization, were present at the insurrection at the Capitol on October
03:12 18th 2023. Whereas several insurrectionists at the Capitol belong to
03:18 a group messaging chat called Global Intifada which is the Arabic word for
03:23 rebellion or uprising and refers to a series of protests and violent riots
03:29 carried out by Palestinians and Israel during the last century. Whereas by
03:35 leading an anti-American and anti-Semitic insurrection on October 18th
03:41 2023, Rashida Tlaib followed Hezbollah's orders to carry out a day of
03:47 unprecedented anger following an explosion at a Gazan hospital lying
03:53 about Israel's responsibility for the attack which United States intelligence
03:58 agencies said was not perpetrated by Israel. And whereas members of Congress
04:04 who denounce the United States while praising terrorist organizations are
04:09 unfit to hold office. Now therefore be it resolved that
04:13 Representative Rashida Tlaib be censured. Representative Rashida Tlaib
04:18 forthwith present herself in the well of the House of Representatives for the
04:23 pronouncement of censure and Representative Rashida Tlaib be censured with the
04:28 public reading of this resolution by the Speaker. I yield back Mr. Speaker.
