Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) speaks about the ongoing Speaker battle.
Transcript
00:00 Do you think the conference gets behind Jim Jordan or is there still too many votes?
00:05 Can he come to the poll by himself, Shalma?
00:08 I think it's yet to be seen if he'll have the votes and hopefully he will.
00:15 Of course I'm supporting Jim Jordan. I've endorsed him.
00:18 But what we've got to do is we've got to have a candidate for him.
00:22 Right now Jim Jordan is the only declared candidate.
00:24 That happens at 1 o'clock.
00:26 There'll be a lot of members that can ask him questions about his plans, what to do about another CR,
00:33 because obviously we're running out of time, about Ukraine funding.
00:36 I'm sure there'll be questions about Israel, his overall plans, how he plans to run the conference,
00:42 how he plans to be Speaker of the House.
00:45 There'll be questions about future elections, of course, supporting, maintaining the majority and so forth.
00:52 And then once that happens, I just asked if we could have a vote immediately afterwards.
00:57 And I've also told everyone once that happens, we should go home and come back
01:02 and have a Speaker election either on Monday or Tuesday morning.
01:06 Another frustration in the conference is that we're missing some of our members,
01:11 and they should be here right now so that we can get through this.
01:14 But not having everyone here holds that process back.
01:18 What about some of the Republicans who have said they will not vote for Jim Jordan?
01:23 What's your message to them?
01:25 They could essentially block him from the Speakership like they did Justice Steve Scalise.
01:29 That's every member's right. And so at the candidate forum, the best thing to do, like all of us did,
01:35 I was one that stood up and shared my concerns and my questions, and so did others.
01:41 For Jim Jordan at the candidate forum at 1 o'clock, they need to do the same thing.
01:45 So is it fair to say you do not think anyone can get a majority today? You don't expect that?
01:50 You know what? This is my third year in Congress, and I've seen just about everything,
01:54 so I can't say that. I mean, maybe we can. Who knows?
01:57 But you're looking to Monday as a possibility.
02:00 For a floor vote. I don't expect that we would have one today.
02:04 But we should have a vote in conference. I'm hoping to see that.
02:07 But do you want a local or a secret ballot vote in conference? Do you want people to go on the web?
02:11 I've been calling, "Let's go to the floor immediately."
02:14 But I don't think we're--yeah, in conference today, I don't care about secret ballot.
02:18 I'm fine with being open all the time.
02:21 What do you think of the bad blood? Some of the folks who oppose Jordan don't oppose him per se,
02:25 but they say they oppose those who they say derail this process.
02:30 Well, you know, just like never Trump, never Kevin, never anyone just isn't a good way to go.
02:38 So I'm for working out those issues and seeing if we can move forward.
02:42 Yeah. Thank you.
02:44 Thank you.
