00:00:00 Hello, good afternoon and welcome to the pavilion.
00:00:06 I am Fakhr-e-Anam and you are watching Sports10 Sports and the ARY Zap app.
00:00:11 And our continued coverage of the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 from India.
00:00:16 With me in the pavilion, I have four fantastic former captains of Pakistan, four great cricketing
00:00:21 minds.
00:00:22 I have got one of the finest fielders, one of the fittest players that we have seen in
00:00:27 modern cricket and captaining Pakistan proudly, Shoaib Malik.
00:00:31 Good afternoon Shoaib.
00:00:32 Good morning and Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone.
00:00:36 With that I have got Mr. Dependable, the man who led Pakistan proudly as the most successful
00:00:41 test captain in Pakistan's Test cricket history, Mr. Pawlak.
00:00:44 Assalam-o-Alaikum and good afternoon Mr. Pawlak.
00:00:46 Wa-alaikum-Salaam.
00:00:47 Thank you.
00:00:49 With that I have got another former captain of Pakistan, the man who kept the wickets
00:00:53 when the two Ws operated from both ends and one of the best runners between the wickets
00:00:58 in his day and age, also referred to as a man of crisis, the Silver Fox of the pavilion,
00:01:03 Mohin Khan.
00:01:04 Assalam-o-Alaikum and good afternoon Mohin.
00:01:05 Wa-alaikum-Salaam.
00:01:06 Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone.
00:01:07 And the cricket royalty himself, the Sultan of Swing, the undisputed all-rounder of all
00:01:13 all-rounders, ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present to you none other than Wasim Akram.
00:01:20 Assalam-o-Alaikum and good afternoon Wasim.

00:01:36 Thank you so much Wasim for ordering everything for us.
00:01:38 I didn't.
00:01:39 You did last night.
00:01:40 I didn't order anything.

00:01:47 that, right?
00:01:48 Yes, absolutely.
00:01:49 All right, we are all set for the game today.
00:01:53 It's Pakistan versus Afghanistan that's coming up.

00:02:01 It's a big match.
00:02:02 Both teams need to win the match to improve their position on the points table.
00:02:11 But before we get going on this game, let's talk about what happened last night.
00:02:16 And yesterday it was a fantastic game of cricket in Dharamshala.
00:02:19 It was India versus New Zealand.
00:02:21 Both were table toppers.
00:02:22 But yesterday India did an excellent batting.
00:02:23 Basically New Zealand, look at that.
00:02:24 Look at that scorecard.
00:02:25 That tells the whole story.
00:02:26 Mitchell there with that beautiful, fantastic century, 130.
00:02:27 Ravindra contributing with 75.
00:02:28 But look at Shammi's figures, 5 for 54.
00:02:29 Just outstanding.
00:02:30 He came in there and he was, you know, fantastic for India.
00:02:31 That entire Indian bowling unit is looking more and more unplayable with every game as
00:02:32 we move forward in this World Cup.
00:02:33 So, it's a fantastic match.

00:14:44 And we'll be back with more from India.
00:14:47 And we'll be back with more from India.
00:14:50 And now let's get to the other, the real part of the game, right?
00:14:54 Which is the game itself.
00:14:57 Let's talk about Afghanistan, Pakistan.
00:15:00 Afghanistan has never won an ODI against Pakistan.
00:15:03 And the last World Cup in 2019, the one in Takra,
00:15:06 that match was really close.
00:15:09 I was there, I was commentating.
00:15:12 Yes, Wahab Riaz and Imad Waseem got runs.
00:15:15 He 49 something, on the crucial stage.
00:15:18 Wahab came with a broken finger.
00:15:21 And then he played a gem of an innings, a little cameo innings,
00:15:24 where Pakistan won the game.
00:15:27 Shailesh Anand wanted Pakistan in the last 5 overs of the game.
00:15:30 And then we finished that with 2 balls to go.
00:15:33 But that game was very close.
00:15:36 In fact, with Misbah, Waseem, both of you.
00:15:39 Interestingly, Afghanistan has been making close games with Pakistan lately.
00:15:42 Even in Asia Cup, we've had some close games.
00:15:45 I know there's a lot of talk that there's a match in Chennai,
00:15:48 there's a match on the same pitch.
00:15:51 It is what it is.
00:15:54 Now, it is what it is.
00:15:57 There's no point in saying it, going to X or Y, it doesn't matter.
00:16:00 Pakistan team are the favourites today.
00:16:03 It shouldn't be a problem for them.
00:16:06 As long as we're saying, play with some valery.
00:16:09 So that we know that Pakistan team,
00:16:12 at that level, they qualified for the World Cup.
00:16:15 Congratulations to Afghanistan.
00:16:18 If we look at the Pakistan team, from player to player,
00:16:21 we have a lot of talent in our team.
00:16:24 Of course, we'll have to be cautious.
00:16:27 We don't know about the pitch.
00:16:30 We've seen the pitch against Australia in the India match.
00:16:33 But that game has been a week.
00:16:36 So it might have improved.
00:16:39 We have a match feature, Afghanistan vs Pakistan.
00:16:42 Let's take a look.
00:16:45 Moin, it's very interesting.
00:16:48 Rizwan said that he knows that we've been giving average performances.
00:16:51 He admitted that he has problems in fielding.
00:16:54 But overall,
00:16:57 he's saying what he thinks is average.
00:17:00 Pakistan's performance is average.
00:17:03 But we've had a chance to bring Pakistan back.
00:17:06 We're playing with a light opposition.
00:17:09 I hope that we win the toss and Pakistan bat first.
00:17:12 Because Afghanistan is struggling a lot while chasing.
00:17:15 There's a good chance of Pakistan winning the toss and being elected to bat.
00:17:20 And try to score a good total.
00:17:23 Anything above 250, Pakistan can win the match.
00:17:26 Because there's no good in chasing.
00:17:29 Gurbaz, no doubt, played an outstanding inning.
00:17:32 He scored 80 runs in the last match.
00:17:35 But he's not able to convert any small innings into big ones.
00:17:38 Especially in middle order.
00:17:41 So if you look at it comparatively,
00:17:44 there's a better chance of Pakistan winning against Afghanistan.
00:17:47 And gain momentum from here.
00:17:50 And make better strategies for the upcoming matches.
00:17:53 So Shoaib, Jonathan Trott
00:17:56 has really definitely injected something.
00:17:59 Some new blood into the Afghanistan side.
00:18:02 He looked confident. He said, "We like being underdogs."
00:18:05 But we've defeated Pakistan in the 2020 series.
00:18:08 So maybe we could repeat that performance again.
00:18:12 How does Jonathan Trott influence this Afghanistan team?
00:18:16 I think if you look at Afghanistan's overall performance,
00:18:20 it's getting better. But still they're not there in ODI cricket.
00:18:24 The batters, especially the day Gurbaz, he scores runs,
00:18:30 then they get to a good target where they can defend.
00:18:34 Or if they're chasing.
00:18:37 But apart from that, if you play their two spinners well,
00:18:42 then they're not winning against you.
00:18:45 And they're very dependent on that.
00:18:48 One is Mujeeb, the other is Rashid.
00:18:50 So you have to tackle them.
00:18:52 But no doubt, Jonathan Trott brought a lot of confidence in the Afghanistan team.
00:18:57 And he has given us self-belief that we can achieve,
00:19:02 we can do better in ODI cricket as well.
00:19:05 We've seen him win against England.
00:19:08 Thanks to England, he won the toss and got him batted.
00:19:13 And he started spinning on the pitch where he was scoring 400 runs.
00:19:18 But I think Pakistan has a lot of favorites today.
00:19:25 And they should win this match easily.
00:19:28 Right on, Pakistan are the favorites.
00:19:31 And they're saying that Pakistan should win easily.
00:19:33 We'll find out at the end of the day.
00:19:35 But right now, it's time for a break.
00:19:37 We'll see you on the other side.
00:19:38 Keep watching Pavilion on A Sports N Sports and the AYZ app.
00:19:41 Welcome back to Pavilion.
00:19:42 I'm Fakhar Khayyar and you're watching A Sports N Sports and the AYZ app.
00:19:45 Our continued coverage of the ICC Men's World Cup.
00:19:47 Today it's Pakistan vs Afghanistan.
00:19:49 Before going on break, we were talking about this match.
00:19:52 Miss Bha, let me bring this to you.
00:19:54 Looks like the Afghanistan openers or the top order have more firepower than Pakistan right now.
00:19:59 Is that an advantage for Afghanistan?
00:20:01 Both the players are very important.
00:20:03 Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran.
00:20:06 Previously, if we look at it, they had a good record against Pakistan.
00:20:09 They scored 300 runs and they've had a great partnership.
00:20:14 Afghanistan depends a lot on them.
00:20:17 Because they're technically better.
00:20:20 They play all kinds of bowling well.
00:20:23 If you look at the first and the rest of the batsmen,
00:20:27 they were a little scared of the short ball and the pace of Afghanistan.
00:20:32 These two are the kind of batsmen who leave the bouncers.
00:20:36 Gurbaz is very strong.
00:20:38 He's hitting sixes on the pull.
00:20:40 So, overall, they've improved a lot.
00:20:44 Their batting is similar to the top-class batsmen in the batting lineup.
00:20:49 They're playing great cricketing shots.
00:20:53 They're equally strong on the back foot and front foot.
00:20:56 You can see their intent in their batting.
00:20:59 These are the top-class batsmen in any batting lineup.
00:21:04 The ball is coming in from all directions.
00:21:07 They're playing the short of length ball well.
00:21:10 The most important thing is that they're dominating the bowling.
00:21:14 Normally, the short balls were difficult for Afghanistan.
00:21:18 Now, they have shots on both sides.
00:21:21 They hit the pull and the upper cut.
00:21:24 They dominate the spinners.
00:21:26 They've improved their sweep.
00:21:28 They hit sixes on the sweep.
00:21:30 I think they are the key.
00:21:32 When any of these two batsmen play long,
00:21:35 Afghanistan sees them as a target.
00:21:38 Now, we can go beyond 250.
00:21:41 The first hurdle for Pakistan is that if we get them early,
00:21:44 then we are in the game.
00:21:46 These are all early things.
00:21:48 Then, we don't understand.
00:21:50 We have a feature here on Gurbaaz.
00:21:53 Let's take a look.
00:21:54 It's beautiful there, Wasim.
00:21:56 Good words from Gurbaaz.
00:21:57 Very good. He's a sensible boy.
00:21:59 And like, what's his name, Najibullah said,
00:22:03 he's angry all the time.
00:22:05 Angry young man.
00:22:07 But yeah, what a player.
00:22:09 We've seen his innings, we've seen his impact on the Afghanistan team.
00:22:12 He gets run, they get good total.
00:22:14 And for the Pakistan team, I think they should know that they have two openers.
00:22:18 If they can out one of them early,
00:22:20 then they can put the pressure back on the Afghanistan team.
00:22:23 And remember, their dot ball ratio is the highest in the World Cup.
00:22:28 It's about 56.37% of their dot balls.
00:22:32 And that's where the problem is.
00:22:34 This happens when one of them is out.
00:22:37 And especially Gurbaaz.
00:22:39 Misbah explained that he plays all around the ground.
00:22:42 He plays cricketing shots.
00:22:44 He is a special talent. No doubt.
00:22:46 The last two days, the Pakistan cricket team has had a long fielding session.
00:22:50 So they can stop him.
00:22:52 They've been working hard on that.
00:22:54 Mohin, we've talked about the top order.
00:22:56 They're explosive.
00:22:57 We've understood that Gurbaaz is key to their...
00:23:00 But what about the fragility of the Afghanistan middle order?
00:23:03 Because when they crash from the top,
00:23:05 they get all shaky.
00:23:08 That's because they depend on the openers.
00:23:11 And the openers have given them a better start.
00:23:15 When the wickets fall, there's pressure.
00:23:18 Like Wasim said, the dot balls are too high.
00:23:21 They were trying to avoid the wickets.
00:23:24 But the cricket that's been made,
00:23:26 the way the teams are playing,
00:23:28 you have to convert the dot balls to singles.
00:23:32 Or you have to convert the bad balls to boundaries.
00:23:35 This is very important.
00:23:37 And we haven't seen this in the World Cup.
00:23:40 If there's a chance for the middle order,
00:23:43 all the middle order batsmen,
00:23:45 Nabi is a big failure.
00:23:48 He's a solid, strong player.
00:23:50 His middle order is not batting at all.
00:23:53 I think the technical reasons
00:23:55 that they can't convert the dot balls to singles or boundaries.
00:23:59 His middle order is an issue.
00:24:02 But instead of Najeeb-Ullah Zadran,
00:24:05 he has played with Ikram Ali.
00:24:07 He's playing well in the middle order.
00:24:10 And Azmat-Ullah Umarzai is also playing well.
00:24:13 And I think he's in the top scorer
00:24:15 in the first three batters from Afghanistan.
00:24:18 I didn't think so.
00:24:20 If we talk about Afghanistan,
00:24:23 playing 11, for instance,
00:24:25 their fast bowling is struggling.
00:24:28 Both of them are.
00:24:30 Farooqui is okay with the new ball.
00:24:32 I think they're both having problems in the end,
00:24:35 especially in power play.
00:24:37 But if we talk about adding an extra spinner,
00:24:40 if they add Noor,
00:24:42 then if I'm the think tank or coach of the Afghanistan team,
00:24:45 I should know that Pakistan team's mostly batters,
00:24:49 like the left arm leg spinner,
00:24:52 get stuck with him and can't read him.
00:24:55 Noor is also a very special talent.
00:24:57 I didn't understand what they said.
00:24:59 I suppose so.
00:25:01 Okay, that's not how we are thinking.
00:25:04 You mentioned the spinners.
00:25:07 You said their fast bowlers are struggling.
00:25:10 But there's so much dependency on Afghanistan spinners.
00:25:13 And they tend to deliver,
00:25:15 whether it is Rashid or Nabi,
00:25:17 they always deliver for Afghanistan.
00:25:19 How dangerous are they going to be for us today?
00:25:22 Look, Rashid, we have seen in mid-overs,
00:25:25 he doesn't give anything away.
00:25:27 He's got great variations.
00:25:29 And if it's a turning track, he's even more lethal.
00:25:32 Mujeeb loves bowling with the new ball,
00:25:34 especially in power play.
00:25:36 He does off-break, googly, carrom ball,
00:25:39 and then he does a new ball that comes in with the seam.
00:25:42 Like an in-swing.
00:25:44 So if they play a third,
00:25:46 then he can be a bit annoying.
00:25:48 But these two are also very dangerous.
00:25:50 Nabi has got an experience.
00:25:52 He's been playing since Afghanistan cricket started.
00:25:54 He's a sharp fox.
00:25:55 Pakistan struggles against Afghanistan spinners.
00:25:58 We have a graphic on your screen.
00:26:01 Take a look at it.
00:26:03 This is how we've been with them.
00:26:05 We've given 27 wickets to their spin attack.
00:26:07 At an average of 30.44.
00:26:09 And their economy has been 4.29 against us.
00:26:13 What do you read into that, Mishpa?
00:26:15 I think we look at Pakistan's stats.
00:26:19 Because overall, their strength is in their spin.
00:26:22 If you look at all the teams, it's the same.
00:26:25 Their pace is not as effective as their spin bowling.
00:26:31 The world knows, and we know,
00:26:34 that if you want to play well against Afghanistan,
00:26:38 then their spin twins,
00:26:40 especially Mujeeb, under pressure,
00:26:42 first power play, he bowls in that.
00:26:44 He puts pressure from above.
00:26:46 You have to play well from above.
00:26:48 And then, in the mid-overs,
00:26:50 Rashid Khan is very important.
00:26:52 You negotiate, even 4-and-over teams are happy.
00:26:56 You don't give wickets in 4-and-over,
00:26:58 then you cash on.
00:27:00 In the remaining 30 overs, you can just make up for that.
00:27:04 I want to ask a question.
00:27:06 It's open for everybody to go.
00:27:08 Just a quick answer, because we've got to go into a break.
00:27:10 There was a time, Wasim, Mishpa,
00:27:12 when we were told that the batsmen of the subcontinent
00:27:15 play their spin very well.
00:27:17 Pakistani batsmen play their spin very well.
00:27:20 But it seems like we've been struggling with spin lately.
00:27:23 Even in the 90s.
00:27:25 We've always been bothered by spinners.
00:27:28 You take Shane Vaughan, you take Kumble.
00:27:31 We have 2-3 good players,
00:27:33 Saeed, Inzamam, Ijaz.
00:27:35 These guys were good against spin,
00:27:37 but generally, we did struggle against spin bowling.
00:27:40 On the other hand, Indians,
00:27:43 Indian team, not from my era as well,
00:27:45 in this era, they have a different approach altogether
00:27:47 against spinners.
00:27:49 I have an answer to this.
00:27:51 If you take out the batters
00:27:53 who played their spin well in the subcontinent,
00:27:55 if you take them all out,
00:27:57 everyone knows how to hit a down-the-ground hit.
00:27:59 Yeah? Wow.
00:28:01 Because until you know how to hit a spin,
00:28:03 you'll be bothered by it.
00:28:05 That's a good point that you bring up.
00:28:07 With that, we're going to take a break here on The Pavilion.
00:28:09 But when we come back, there's more on the other side.
00:28:11 Welcome back to The Pavilion.
00:28:13 Sports and Sports and the Airwise app.
00:28:15 And we're getting ready for the Pakistan-India clash.
00:28:17 Before we go on the break,
00:28:19 we were talking about the Afghan team.
00:28:21 Now it's time to talk about the Pakistan team.
00:28:23 But before we talk about the Pakistan team,
00:28:25 our number one sports journalist,
00:28:27 Mr. Shahid Hashmi,
00:28:29 who is in India,
00:28:31 we gave him a task
00:28:33 and he did a great job
00:28:35 in securing
00:28:37 an important interview for us.
00:28:39 So it's over to Shahid Hashmi
00:28:41 who has Mickey Arthur with him.
00:28:43 I'm Shahid Hashmi
00:28:45 for Airsports Pakistan
00:28:47 and we're doing an exclusive interview
00:28:49 with Head Coach Mickey Arthur.
00:28:51 Mickey, welcome to The Pavilion of Airsports.
00:28:53 Your parched, dry wicket,
00:28:55 oppressive hit,
00:28:57 a must-win game.
00:28:59 What do we expect from Pakistan?
00:29:01 Yeah, well, we expect a really good performance today.
00:29:03 Again, you know,
00:29:05 when I look at our preparation,
00:29:07 it's been outstanding.
00:29:09 The boys have really, really worked hard.
00:29:11 We've looked at a couple of things
00:29:13 that we feel we need improving on.
00:29:15 We've spoken about it.
00:29:17 We've practiced it.
00:29:19 It's now just executing it.
00:29:21 That's the key for us.
00:29:23 All are saying that it's a spin versus a spin contest.
00:29:25 Do you believe in that?
00:29:27 Yeah, look, I do.
00:29:29 But we've seen pace do okay here.
00:29:31 You know, we've seen pace do decently
00:29:33 with the new ball.
00:29:35 So, yeah,
00:29:37 spin is going to play a massive role.
00:29:39 We do know that.
00:29:41 We know Afghanistan are a spin-centric team.
00:29:43 But, you know,
00:29:45 we've just got to put together
00:29:47 50 good overs, whether that's with our
00:29:49 pace or whether that's with our spin.
00:29:51 What are the lessons learned from the last two
00:29:53 defeats, especially the batting collapse?
00:29:55 India, 155 for 2 to
00:29:57 191 all out. And then against
00:29:59 Australia, needing 168 in the last
00:30:01 20 overs? Yeah, we got ourselves
00:30:03 into a good position there against Australia.
00:30:05 And then
00:30:07 just fell away. I think the lessons learned
00:30:09 is we need a batsman getting 100.
00:30:11 We need somebody in our top 4
00:30:13 getting in, getting 100 and allowing
00:30:15 the other guys to bat around them.
00:30:17 The tempo of our batting has been
00:30:19 okay.
00:30:21 And now it's just guys getting
00:30:23 70s. Those need to be 100s.
00:30:25 They need to be 110s.
00:30:27 And everybody batting around them will
00:30:29 hopefully give us the score that we need.
00:30:31 And how happy are you with the return of form
00:30:33 of Shaheen Shahafridi, 5 for 54?
00:30:35 Yeah, he worked really hard at it.
00:30:37 He had a little bit of
00:30:39 sickness. He was
00:30:41 down.
00:30:43 There were a couple of things that we felt we needed
00:30:45 to tweak with his bowling.
00:30:47 And he came back and responded exceptionally
00:30:49 well. So, to get Shaheen Shahafridi
00:30:51 firing for us
00:30:53 is pivotal because we know he's a
00:30:55 genuine match winner. And finally, what is the
00:30:57 message to the fans back home who have not
00:30:59 been able to come and attend the matches?
00:31:01 Yeah, we're missing you.
00:31:03 We're really missing seeing the
00:31:05 green in the stand. We're really missing seeing
00:31:07 our own supporters here.
00:31:09 But the boys, we spoke about it last night,
00:31:11 the boys are doing it for everybody back
00:31:13 home. And I promise you they're trying
00:31:15 100% to make you
00:31:17 all very, very happy. Thank you,
00:31:19 Mickey. Good luck. Pleasure.
00:31:21 Thank you, Shahid.
00:31:23 Wonderful. Great job done.
00:31:25 So, there you have it. Mickey Arthur.
00:31:27 Your thoughts?
00:31:29 Well, I think
00:31:31 it's very general. All the people are saying the same thing.
00:31:33 They should be told the ways
00:31:35 in which the Pakistan team
00:31:37 lost their last match.
00:31:39 They went close to you and played
00:31:41 some very rash shots.
00:31:43 And on the bad bowls, which you could convert
00:31:45 into big boundaries, you didn't
00:31:47 explore your options. I hope
00:31:49 they told you all this. But
00:31:51 whatever feedback they gave
00:31:53 the team, the preparation was going on.
00:31:55 They said, "We've prepared a lot."
00:31:57 Naturally, for such a big tournament,
00:31:59 everyone gets prepared.
00:32:01 You don't have to go and prepare.
00:32:03 But again, being a
00:32:05 director of cricket, I think they must have
00:32:07 motivated the team,
00:32:09 as they said.
00:32:11 I think there are a few things that we identified,
00:32:13 especially in batting, that you're coming
00:32:15 so close, and converting that into big
00:32:17 innings is what they're saying.
00:32:19 That's important. And how to do it?
00:32:21 The batsmen must explore their options.
00:32:23 They also said, Shahid Shah Afridi
00:32:25 performed well. We worked on a few things.
00:32:27 And he's really responded well to that.
00:32:29 What do you think were the things that they have
00:32:31 tweaked in him? Probably more mental
00:32:33 than anything else. Just give him
00:32:35 some confidence and probably told him
00:32:37 you're the best we have, and he's
00:32:39 the best we have. Doesn't matter if he
00:32:41 doesn't get a wicket from Naiga or from Nairganj,
00:32:43 he'll come back and he got wickets with the old ball
00:32:45 the previous game. I think in the last match,
00:32:47 the difference that we saw was that early on,
00:32:49 Shaheen, who keeps on bowling full,
00:32:51 very quickly, he's got his
00:32:53 length, which you also talk about,
00:32:55 as soon as he saw that the swing
00:32:57 wasn't happening, he pulled his length
00:32:59 back, and then he consistently,
00:33:01 so this is the difference that we saw in the last match.
00:33:03 And we have Shaheen Shah Afridi
00:33:05 with us. Let's listen in.
00:33:07 Well, there you have it, Shaheen Shah Afridi.
00:33:09 Looking good and confident, Shoaib.
00:33:11 Yes, of course.
00:33:13 And when you take five wickets,
00:33:15 then of course,
00:33:17 all the confidence comes back
00:33:19 in you, and we've seen that as well.
00:33:21 Whenever he
00:33:23 strikes up front,
00:33:25 the rest of the bowling attack
00:33:27 for Pakistan, it comes on
00:33:29 the track. So that's why
00:33:31 it's very important for Shaheen.
00:33:33 In the last
00:33:35 match, the wickets he took,
00:33:37 it was a Maxwell wicket.
00:33:39 He tried it in the first ball.
00:33:41 This is his third wicket.
00:33:43 And you can see it in the rhythm.
00:33:47 And if he hadn't done this spell,
00:33:49 Pakistan would have scored exactly.
00:33:51 Yes, they would have scored 400.
00:33:53 Well done to Shaheen Afridi.
00:33:55 He got a fiver, and that's a big deal.
00:33:57 Getting a fiver in one-day cricket
00:33:59 and that too in a World Cup.
00:34:01 Massive deal.
00:34:03 Totally, totally. But very good.
00:34:05 We're looking forward to a great performance
00:34:07 by not just Shaheen, but everybody else.
00:34:09 But right now, you know,
00:34:11 your favorite subject, Waseem, and that's the
00:34:13 pitch. So we're going to take you
00:34:15 over to Chennai,
00:34:17 and we'll start with the pitch report brought to you by Onik.
00:34:19 Chennai, slowest
00:34:21 of them all. What does that mean, Waseem?
00:34:23 It means slowest of them
00:34:25 all. I suppose
00:34:27 it means that the pitch report
00:34:29 can't give us clarity.
00:34:31 But if you look at the pitch,
00:34:33 it looks much better
00:34:35 look-wise than the Australia
00:34:37 match against India.
00:34:39 Apparently, it's the same pitch. I'm not sure
00:34:41 if it is or not, but that's what
00:34:43 the report says.
00:34:45 The cracks weren't there. It was very dry.
00:34:47 The roll was good.
00:34:49 And it also appears it'll be a slow
00:34:51 turn.
00:34:53 But again,
00:34:55 the Australia-India
00:34:57 match and this pitch,
00:34:59 the cracks,
00:35:01 there are very small cracks.
00:35:03 But there are a lot.
00:35:05 So when there are so many small cracks,
00:35:07 and it's hot weather,
00:35:09 if they start to open up
00:35:11 even with a few spikes,
00:35:13 it can happen. But it'll be on the slower side.
00:35:15 But I guess if we
00:35:17 look at the whole combination,
00:35:19 compare it,
00:35:21 put the pitch aside,
00:35:23 and bat Pakistan first,
00:35:25 bat second, then we should win
00:35:27 this match.
00:35:29 There's no question about it. And also,
00:35:31 it's not just Pakistan that has to play on this pitch.
00:35:33 The other side is also playing on the same pitch.
00:35:35 So it's an even contest.
00:35:37 You don't have the toss in your hand.
00:35:39 You don't have the conditions in your hand.
00:35:41 Someone has a falcon,
00:35:43 someone has a goat, and I have a pigeon.
00:35:45 But make sure it's awake.
00:35:49 You've ruined everyone's sources.
00:35:51 Anglo gave their sources
00:35:53 like eagle, falcon, pigeon.
00:35:55 You said you have a falcon.
00:35:57 What do you have?
00:35:59 Falcon, falcon, bird,
00:36:01 they fly in and tell you.
00:36:03 My unicorn is a falcon.
00:36:05 Tell us then.
00:36:07 It doesn't fly in, it's a unicorn.
00:36:09 What have you been on this morning, my friend?
00:36:11 Unicorn, falcon, what's going on here?
00:36:13 Maybe feed it to Noor.
00:36:17 We've got a news.
00:36:19 Wasim bhai, are you inside or outside?
00:36:23 No, today Wasim bhai
00:36:27 has written his name in Afghanistan.
00:36:29 We're going to take a break in the pavilion
00:36:31 because we're getting delirious.
00:36:33 See you on the other side.
00:36:35 Welcome back to the pavilion. I'm Fakhr-e-Anam.
00:36:37 You're watching the IRY Zap app.
00:36:39 Our continued coverage of the ICC Men's World Cup 2023.
00:36:41 Pakistan is playing Afghanistan in Chennai.
00:36:43 I have with me in the pavilion
00:36:45 I've got Shoaib Malik,
00:36:47 Miss Fahadul Haq, Mohin Khan and Wasim Akram.
00:36:49 Wasim, Mohin, I have something special for you.
00:36:51 Sure, bhai.
00:36:53 Something very special for all our viewers.
00:36:55 A very special memory in Chennai.
00:36:57 Shahid Hashmi has a little package for us.
00:36:59 This is the wall painting
00:37:03 that reminds us of the January 1999
00:37:05 Test match.
00:37:07 Chennai Test, Pakistan vs India.
00:37:09 Pakistan has achieved a great victory
00:37:11 with 12 runs.
00:37:13 Pakistan has won 5 wickets in the first innings.
00:37:15 Saklayan Mushtaq, a great gritty
00:37:17 50, ever hardworking
00:37:19 Mohin Khan and Wasim Akram.
00:37:21 The great Wasim Akram's
00:37:22 leader. What a test match Pakistan had.
00:37:24 India had a target of 271.
00:37:26 Sachin Tendulkar
00:37:28 had almost won the test match.
00:37:30 To score a target of 271,
00:37:32 Shahid Afridi had scored a great 141.
00:37:34 When Tendulkar
00:37:36 was batting well, it felt like
00:37:38 Pakistan would lose the test match.
00:37:40 But Saklayan Mushtaq
00:37:42 scored a great gain.
00:37:44 In the extra cover mid-off,
00:37:46 Wasim Akram took a great catch.
00:37:48 Pakistan won the test match with 12 runs.
00:37:50 Pakistan had a standing ovation.
00:37:52 The entire Chennai crowd
00:37:54 stood up and clapped for Pakistan.
00:37:56 They gave a standing ovation.
00:37:58 It was a great test match.
00:38:00 It is remembered in the Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.
00:38:02 The ball was penetrated.
00:38:04 Well deserved. You great Wasim Akram.
00:38:06 Thank you, Shahid.
00:38:10 Yes, Wasim Akram. You definitely deserve that credit.
00:38:12 Thank you for bringing it.
00:38:14 Thank you, Shahid. Good, good.
00:38:16 Nicely done.
00:38:18 That was one of the most memorable test matches
00:38:20 I participated in as a player, as a captain.
00:38:22 One of the best tours I was on.
00:38:24 That was India 99.
00:38:26 And the closest game I played.
00:38:28 We have a match summary of it.
00:38:30 Let's take a look at the match summary.
00:38:32 I remember you had opened up Shahid Afridi.
00:38:34 That's the first innings. Pakistan Moeen Khan.
00:38:36 Moeen Khan, you are also a Ranikarnas.
00:38:38 Mohamed Yusuf, 53.
00:38:40 Kublai had 6 wickets.
00:38:42 Srinath had 3 wickets.
00:38:44 India put up a 54 in the Gangoli.
00:38:46 Dravid, the wall, put up 53.
00:38:48 And then Siklai and Mushtaq there with 5 wickets.
00:38:50 And Shahid Afridi with 3 wickets.
00:38:52 So the lead was 16 runs.
00:38:54 Sachin didn't bowl.
00:38:56 No, I was out.
00:38:58 Guys, look at the second innings.
00:39:00 Shahid Afridi put up that amazing
00:39:02 century, 141.
00:39:04 And Indy with that half century.
00:39:06 And Prasad picking up
00:39:08 those 6 wickets.
00:39:10 And Tendulkar picked up 2 wickets for 35.
00:39:12 Sachin Tendulkar
00:39:14 then responded with that outstanding century.
00:39:16 And he almost took this game away.
00:39:18 But it was Siklai and Mushtaq
00:39:20 and then Wasim, look at you.
00:39:22 You were there to make this happen.
00:39:24 You led the team from the front.
00:39:26 And you won that by 12 runs.
00:39:28 But the most special thing here that I'd like to say
00:39:30 is that of course your services to the game of cricket were fantastic.
00:39:32 But the Chennai crowd that day,
00:39:34 they gave you guys a standing ovation.
00:39:36 And you took a lap of victory.
00:39:38 Yeah, we did actually.
00:39:40 That was one of the best days.
00:39:42 Some odd reason, I think Javed Bhai or Mohin
00:39:44 said let's do a round.
00:39:46 Because the crowd was chanting our names.
00:39:48 And we said sure.
00:39:50 So we did a lap, we got a standing ovation.
00:39:52 And one of the best crowds.
00:39:54 In India, generally the crowd is very good.
00:39:56 Cricket loving crowd.
00:39:58 We know about the sports.
00:40:00 In Calcutta as well.
00:40:02 Wherever we played, we got a great reception.
00:40:04 They were very hospitable.
00:40:06 This tour was very special.
00:40:08 We had a presidential kind of security.
00:40:10 Whenever we travelled out of the hotel
00:40:12 to the practice or to the ground
00:40:14 or wherever we went, the road was closed.
00:40:16 Proper escort.
00:40:18 But we got looked after beautifully on and off the field by everyone.
00:40:20 So one of the best tours I've been on.
00:40:22 I mean I've played 100+ test matches.
00:40:24 The hotel where the Pakistan cricket team stays
00:40:28 is always full.
00:40:30 Just to see Pakistani players.
00:40:32 So we always get a lot of love from there.
00:40:34 Yeah, that's true.
00:40:36 I think 16 runs,
00:40:38 I was looking at it.
00:40:40 20 runs.
00:40:42 20 or 16 when Sachin turned up?
00:40:44 I think 20, roughly about 20 if I'm not mistaken.
00:40:46 It was a long time ago. Sachin was batting on 136.
00:40:48 And by the time
00:40:50 Saqlain had played a lot in that.
00:40:52 It was his first match.
00:40:54 I think Saqlain had scored 5 in his first inning.
00:40:56 Saqlain had scored 10 in his second.
00:40:58 So I remember
00:41:00 he was playing on 136.
00:41:02 Saqlain used to do this to the other player.
00:41:04 He started sweeping like this.
00:41:06 Not this one.
00:41:08 This one to the back.
00:41:10 We had literally kept the fielder behind the keeper.
00:41:12 But he used to do it like this.
00:41:14 He used to hit it a little outside.
00:41:16 It was a big problem.
00:41:18 He started hitting.
00:41:20 He knew he had 4 or 5 wickets left.
00:41:22 So he started hitting.
00:41:24 He had a back spasm before the test match.
00:41:26 We knew it was hot in Chennai.
00:41:28 And it was a typical Chennai track.
00:41:30 Red mud track.
00:41:32 Grassless.
00:41:34 No grass.
00:41:36 There's an interesting incident in this match.
00:41:38 I had caught a catch.
00:41:40 Was it an incident?
00:41:42 You had 36 runs on the ground.
00:41:44 I had two runs on the ground.
00:41:46 And I had caught a catch.
00:41:48 I didn't know it was on the ground.
00:41:50 Azhar Mehmood was standing
00:41:52 on the silly of Saqlain's ball.
00:41:54 He came on the back foot.
00:41:56 He punched it hard.
00:41:58 I thought it was on his pad.
00:42:00 And then the ball went in the air.
00:42:02 I caught the catch by diving it.
00:42:04 I was very much confident
00:42:06 that I had caught the catch.
00:42:08 I jumped up and
00:42:10 appealed.
00:42:12 At that time, Steve Dunne was the umpire.
00:42:14 No one knew.
00:42:16 He was hit twice.
00:42:18 He went to the leg umpire.
00:42:20 He came back to his place.
00:42:22 He came back and flew away.
00:42:24 Gangoli was furious.
00:42:26 It has been discussed on social media
00:42:28 that Mohit Khan cheated.
00:42:30 Seriously.
00:42:32 I didn't know.
00:42:34 If I had known, I would have appealed.
00:42:36 I was coming to this.
00:42:38 You came to this.
00:42:40 You appealed.
00:42:42 You clarified it.
00:42:44 Very well.
00:42:46 20 runs were left.
00:42:50 It was a test match.
00:42:52 My famous words
00:42:54 still go on.
00:42:56 I said that I wanted one wicket.
00:42:58 It can be a partnership but not a loss.
00:43:00 All the fielders were on the boundary.
00:43:02 We had to give Sachin a single
00:43:04 because he was 6th.
00:43:06 I was standing in the extra cover
00:43:08 to be single.
00:43:10 He was a fielder.
00:43:12 He was in the back of the stumps.
00:43:14 I was in the extra cover.
00:43:16 I planned.
00:43:18 Saklain being Saklain,
00:43:20 I said that he is your second.
00:43:22 Leave him high.
00:43:24 He will go to hit a mid wicket.
00:43:26 Right.
00:43:28 It was a risk.
00:43:30 It could have been hair,
00:43:32 or a par.
00:43:34 It was necessary to take a risk.
00:43:36 He had hit a six before that.
00:43:38 If we had not taken a risk,
00:43:40 he would have won the match.
00:43:42 All the fielders were on the boundary.
00:43:44 Saklain bowler was in the back
00:43:46 and I was in the extra cover.
00:43:48 He bowled the same.
00:43:50 The other one was a bit high.
00:43:52 He was set.
00:43:54 When a great man is set,
00:43:56 he was looking like a football.
00:43:58 He saw that after the off-stump,
00:44:00 he was swinging so high.
00:44:02 He didn't hit it hard.
00:44:04 He hit a shot.
00:44:06 Like a proper catch.
00:44:08 Satellite.
00:44:10 I saw that you were confident.
00:44:12 I was in the back.
00:44:14 The first thing I did was a split second decision.
00:44:16 40,000 people were saying drop it.
00:44:18 I was shouting.
00:44:20 I shut myself in the split second.
00:44:22 I told you two things.
00:44:24 First balance and then eye on the ball.
00:44:26 Right.
00:44:28 I did it in Australian style.
00:44:30 I told him to do it in a way
00:44:32 that it doesn't go out.
00:44:34 Saklain bowled 2-3 out.
00:44:36 I did it.
00:44:38 What a series.
00:44:40 What a series and what a memory.
00:44:42 Thank you to Chennai
00:44:44 ground people.
00:44:46 They have kept the painting there.
00:44:48 That memory is still there.
00:44:50 We will take a break here on the Pavilion.
00:44:52 When we come back, we are closer to the action.
00:44:54 Welcome back to the Pavilion.
00:44:56 You are watching Airsports and Sports
00:44:58 and the AYZ app.
00:45:00 We are getting closer to the game.
00:45:02 We have a special feature
00:45:04 on Harish Rauf.
00:45:06 Yes, Mr. 150+.
00:45:08 Today, his role has become very important
00:45:10 against Afghanistan.
00:45:12 Especially against the middle order.
00:45:14 Yes, I think it is very
00:45:16 important.
00:45:18 Especially against such a team
00:45:20 where the top order can still
00:45:22 negotiate a little pace.
00:45:24 Like the first two batsmen are out.
00:45:26 A bowler who
00:45:28 does around 150
00:45:30 can bowl short balls
00:45:32 and can be effective.
00:45:34 The pitch and the
00:45:36 chances of a reverse swing.
00:45:38 The most important thing
00:45:40 that I think Harish missed
00:45:42 in the previous games
00:45:44 is that he used to bowl
00:45:46 very good out swingers with a new ball.
00:45:48 That is missing in the early
00:45:50 change.
00:45:52 The ball doesn't swing after 5-6 overs.
00:45:54 I think if your 6-7 overs
00:45:56 have passed, then don't
00:45:58 bowl Harish in the power play.
00:46:00 Because his confidence is a little
00:46:02 down. After 10 overs,
00:46:04 if you bring him in and
00:46:06 use the spinner early,
00:46:08 he will be very effective.
00:46:10 But, Mr. Rauf, I can understand where you are coming from.
00:46:12 That can happen. But he as a bowler
00:46:14 should be able to know now
00:46:16 that he has been playing for Pakistan for the last
00:46:18 three years or more probably.
00:46:20 He should be able to bowl in any situation.
00:46:22 He should be able to bowl in first 10-2 power play.
00:46:24 The same is true for Mesbah.
00:46:26 If someone is struggling,
00:46:28 then you have good spinners
00:46:30 within the power play.
00:46:32 My point is that
00:46:34 Harish as a bowler, when will he learn
00:46:36 that he can bowl in power play?
00:46:38 Especially in pressure matches.
00:46:40 The 150-145
00:46:42 who have an average speed,
00:46:44 they are struggling
00:46:46 in other teams as well.
00:46:48 Lukey Ferguson
00:46:50 is bowling well.
00:46:52 He is bowling well because
00:46:54 he is the captain
00:46:56 and that's why he brings the shot ball.
00:46:58 The batters should be tired
00:47:00 and play a rest shot.
00:47:02 Especially the key batters in all the teams.
00:47:04 Lukey Ferguson
00:47:06 is successful because
00:47:08 when he bowls the last ball,
00:47:10 he exploits you.
00:47:12 If a batter
00:47:14 doesn't play well outside the off stump,
00:47:16 he does it there or in the body.
00:47:18 Both of them are struggling
00:47:20 because their shot ball
00:47:22 is not falling on the right place.
00:47:24 Lukey Ferguson
00:47:26 is bowling 6-8 meters
00:47:28 and that's where
00:47:30 he is bowling with no room.
00:47:32 He is bowling
00:47:34 from stump to stump.
00:47:36 That's why it's important
00:47:38 to bowl at the right place with pace.
00:47:40 That's why Mark Wood and
00:47:42 Harish are struggling.
00:47:44 Your swing is not right,
00:47:46 your seam is not right.
00:47:48 You have to keep the length
00:47:50 of the bat so that the batsmen are tired.
00:47:52 That's why they are struggling.
00:47:54 It's true that you can try
00:47:56 a spinner in power play.
00:47:58 We have seen Navars.
00:48:00 He plays in T20 cricket
00:48:02 and he bowls well.
00:48:04 Use him.
00:48:06 In all the matches
00:48:08 I have seen New Zealand
00:48:10 doing 8th or 9th over
00:48:12 centner.
00:48:14 They put
00:48:16 doubt in the batsmen's mind
00:48:18 that still in power play
00:48:20 it's 9th over.
00:48:22 If he takes a chance in 1st over,
00:48:24 it's a chance for wicket.
00:48:26 And secondly, early on
00:48:28 they also see how a new ball
00:48:30 will be played here.
00:48:32 How a ball can stay straight
00:48:34 and spin.
00:48:36 Pakistan can do the same early on.
00:48:38 In one or two matches
00:48:40 give him some comfort zone.
00:48:42 He will regain some confidence
00:48:44 and then he can bowl anywhere.
00:48:46 If 10 overs are over,
00:48:48 4 fielders
00:48:50 will go out of the
00:48:52 30 yard circle.
00:48:54 So, a fast bowler should be protected.
00:48:56 Alright, we are going to take a break.
00:48:58 When we come back,
00:49:00 we will discuss the spin of Pakistan.
00:49:02 There are some issues in the spin department.
00:49:04 We will discuss that right after the break.
00:49:06 Welcome back to the Pavilion.
00:49:08 I am Fakhriyana.
00:49:10 You are watching Esports Esports and the AYZ app.
00:49:12 Our coverage of the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.
00:49:14 Sorry, Pakistan is going to clash
00:49:16 with Afghanistan.
00:49:18 And we are getting close to the toss.
00:49:20 We have already shown you the pitch report.
00:49:22 I have Shoaib Malik,
00:49:24 Miss Bahul Haq, Mohin Khan
00:49:26 and Wasim Akram.
00:49:28 Let's talk about Pakistan's spin.
00:49:30 First, give some advice to the Pakistan team
00:49:32 to increase their vision.
00:49:34 Mizwa said that he saw the toss.
00:49:36 He has been telling us in the break that the toss is over.
00:49:38 We are checking it.
00:49:40 Give the advice that you were giving in the break.
00:49:42 The same advice you give.
00:49:44 You should put the frags.
00:49:46 You know that Mizwa has sharp eyes.
00:49:48 He is giving a guarantee.
00:49:50 He is giving a guarantee.
00:49:52 You are more than me.
00:49:54 More than you?
00:49:56 We have already discussed cricket.
00:49:58 Pakistan's spin department.
00:50:00 Let's talk to Shoaib Malik.
00:50:02 Shoaib, what do you think?
00:50:04 We have Osama Mir, Nawaz, Shadab Khan.
00:50:06 Some people are saying that Shadab should play today.
00:50:08 Should we give the toss to Osama?
00:50:10 He has given only one match.
00:50:12 He has given that match in Bengaluru.
00:50:14 The boundaries were small.
00:50:16 Against Australia.
00:50:18 What do you think?
00:50:20 What should be happening here?
00:50:22 We should play with the same team.
00:50:24 I think.
00:50:26 You can see one thing out of the box.
00:50:28 Your stats are not good against the opposition.
00:50:30 As compared to their spin.
00:50:32 Salman Ali is ahead.
00:50:34 He is ahead.
00:50:36 He is ahead.
00:50:38 Salman Ali is ahead.
00:50:40 He plays good spin.
00:50:42 You can think that out of the box.
00:50:44 Whose place?
00:50:46 I think your bowler.
00:50:48 All-rounder.
00:50:50 You can make him play less.
00:50:52 You mean, spinning all-rounder.
00:50:54 You have Nawaz in that.
00:50:56 But you will need Nawaz.
00:50:58 You need a company.
00:51:00 You can do this.
00:51:02 You can take a chance of wrist spinner.
00:51:04 If you are thinking out of the box.
00:51:06 You can take that chance.
00:51:08 But if you go with the same team.
00:51:10 Osama Mir should get a second chance.
00:51:12 If you want to judge him.
00:51:14 On the basis of that catch.
00:51:16 That's a very wrong thing to do.
00:51:18 I don't think people are judging him on that catch.
00:51:20 I have seen a lot of people.
00:51:22 They started judging.
00:51:24 He has tweeted it.
00:51:26 If he has done it.
00:51:28 You should not do it.
00:51:30 Why would you do that?
00:51:32 You should not do that.
00:51:34 Why would you tweet.
00:51:36 While you are playing a world cup.
00:51:38 Get off social media.
00:51:40 I don't think their managers have any sense.
00:51:42 One thing is surprising.
00:51:44 As per the clause of the central contract.
00:51:46 They are not supposed to see or comment on the social media.
00:51:48 Obviously, they are not listening then.
00:51:50 I think the one who controls.
00:51:52 I don't know who is there.
00:51:54 He should do it.
00:51:56 There was a wearing sign.
00:51:58 The bowling of Osama.
00:52:00 He did it very slow.
00:52:02 Although being a tall leg spinner.
00:52:04 He normally bowls into the pitch.
00:52:06 Because of that he gets bounce.
00:52:08 He spins.
00:52:10 Even the side match.
00:52:12 The practice game he played against Australia.
00:52:14 He was bowling after hitting.
00:52:16 I was so surprised.
00:52:18 He was bowling very slow.
00:52:20 He was bowling very flight.
00:52:22 When a long bowler bowls.
00:52:24 The ball is coming from above.
00:52:26 If you bowl flight.
00:52:28 The batsman will get a lot of time.
00:52:30 Did you see one thing?
00:52:32 Why is it fun?
00:52:34 Because when you are not given confidence.
00:52:36 And the field placement.
00:52:38 I have played with Osama.
00:52:40 I have played under him.
00:52:42 We play from the same club.
00:52:44 So I am sure.
00:52:46 The fielding that was there.
00:52:48 In the time of Warner.
00:52:50 You have played with Osama.
00:52:52 You know that.
00:52:54 Five on the side.
00:52:56 And his main weapon is googly.
00:52:58 Against lefty.
00:53:00 You have given four offside.
00:53:02 With mid-off up.
00:53:04 When you are bringing someone.
00:53:06 On such a big platform.
00:53:08 As a think tank or as a leader.
00:53:10 Your goal should be to give.
00:53:12 The best confidence.
00:53:14 To that player.
00:53:16 Who you are bringing in the side.
00:53:18 That was clearly seen.
00:53:20 And that can be done with him.
00:53:22 I guess he should get another opportunity.
00:53:24 With giving.
00:53:26 The whole confidence.
00:53:28 There is a way to give confidence.
00:53:30 When the captain calls the bowler.
00:53:32 To bowl.
00:53:34 I think you should ask him.
00:53:36 What field do you want to play?
00:53:38 Go ahead.
00:53:40 Apparently Nawaz and all.
00:53:42 I have heard that Nawaz got a fever.
00:53:44 He might not play today.
00:53:46 He will play Shadab.
00:53:48 Two leg spinners.
00:53:50 Gentlemen I am going to interrupt.
00:53:52 Because I have to take you guys.
00:53:54 We are ready for a flip.
00:53:56 Brought to you by Samsung.
00:53:58 Well the news out of Chennai.
00:54:00 Pakistan winning the toss.
00:54:02 And have elected to bat first.
00:54:04 Mohin you wanted Pakistan to win the toss.
00:54:06 Yes I wanted both teams to win.
00:54:08 Because it was important to bat first.
00:54:10 Because Afghanistan's batting.
00:54:12 Is better in first batting.
00:54:14 It is not as good in chasing.
00:54:16 I think it is a good decision.
00:54:18 But in a small way.
00:54:20 Bad luck.
00:54:22 Noor Ahmed is playing as fourth spinner.
00:54:24 Three spinners were already bowling well.
00:54:26 And teams were struggling against them.
00:54:28 Pakistan also struggled a lot.
00:54:30 I think Noor's addition will create a little problem.
00:54:32 For Pakistan.
00:54:34 But they have to play 50 overs.
00:54:36 It will be very important.
00:54:38 If you can't play 50 overs.
00:54:40 If you are all out.
00:54:42 It means you invite the next team.
00:54:44 Towards winning the match.
00:54:46 I think it will be very important.
00:54:48 Then we will see.
00:54:50 I think it will be very important.
00:54:52 50 overs are important for Pakistan.
00:54:54 And the start.
00:54:56 Like Mujib is bowling.
00:54:58 We will have to attack a little.
00:55:00 We will have to put a little pressure.
00:55:02 So that the ball goes on the back foot.
00:55:04 We have got the playing elevens in.
00:55:06 Basim take us through Pakistan's squad first.
00:55:08 One kind of force change.
00:55:10 I suppose that's what the captain said.
00:55:12 Shadab is in.
00:55:14 Nawaz is not feeling well. He has got a fever.
00:55:16 Otherwise Osama is getting a second chance.
00:55:18 And rightly so.
00:55:20 Three pacers and of course.
00:55:22 Hopner and then the middle order.
00:55:24 Skipper coming at number three.
00:55:26 Very good.
00:55:28 Interesting. Two leg spinners.
00:55:30 Two wrist spinners for Pakistan today.
00:55:32 How does that impact Afghanistan?
00:55:34 This is Afghanistan's team.
00:55:36 Take us through this.
00:55:38 Afghanistan has added a spinner.
00:55:40 Normally the top order is the same.
00:55:42 Gurbaz.
00:55:44 Ibrahim.
00:55:46 Rehmat. Hashmat.
00:55:48 Azmat.
00:55:50 And their wicketkeeper Ikram.
00:55:52 Nabi.
00:55:54 So it's a bit of change.
00:55:56 They have added a spin option.
00:55:58 But one thing can definitely happen.
00:56:00 In Pakistan's favour.
00:56:02 Noor is a very good bowler.
00:56:04 But the way I have seen him bowling.
00:56:06 He gives you boundary balls.
00:56:08 So he is not a very good bowler.
00:56:10 Like Rashid or Mujeeb.
00:56:12 I know but it's done.
00:56:14 I have seen his last series.
00:56:16 I think in a franchisee cricket.
00:56:18 He is bowling quicker now.
00:56:20 I have played with him in LPL.
00:56:22 He is an improved bowler.
00:56:24 Before he used to give you
00:56:26 bad balls.
00:56:28 But he was in good form
00:56:30 when I played with him in LPL.
00:56:32 But he was bowling within
00:56:34 the stumps.
00:56:36 As we all know Shabbir
00:56:38 that we do struggle against
00:56:40 the left arm leg spinner like we did
00:56:42 against Kuldeep in Asia Cup.
00:56:44 So I hope they will be able to
00:56:46 read this guy.
00:56:48 One thing Pakistan should be ready for.
00:56:50 I think they can spin from both sides.
00:56:52 Mohit has calculated
00:56:54 how to play.
00:56:56 He has written it down.
00:56:58 I have told you that you have to attack.
00:57:00 The bad balls that
00:57:02 the bowlers do.
00:57:04 Especially Noor.
00:57:06 You have to convert it into boundaries.
00:57:08 If you don't put pressure.
00:57:10 This is the kind of bowling.
00:57:12 It's a different variety.
00:57:14 Like Noor's addition.
00:57:16 It will be a difficult task for Pakistan.
00:57:18 So
00:57:20 the dot balls should be minimal.
00:57:22 Alright, thank you Mohit.
00:57:24 We are going to take a break right here.
00:57:26 But when we come back, we are closer to the action.
00:57:28 Welcome back to The Pavilion.
00:57:30 You are watching Airsports10 Sports and the ARY Zap app.
00:57:32 The news out of Chennai is Pakistan has won the toss.
00:57:34 And elected to bat first.
00:57:36 And with that
00:57:38 it's time for
00:57:40 expert predictions.
00:57:42 Brought to you by Palmolive Natural.
00:57:44 Jee Shoaib. Pakistan. Pakistan.
00:57:46 Moin. Pakistan. Wasim.
00:57:48 Al-Pakistan. Misbah.
00:57:50 All the parties have changed.
00:57:52 Pakistan.
00:57:54 You have also changed.
00:57:56 I have started from there.
00:57:58 Final decision? Pakistan.
00:58:00 Alright, locked and loaded.
00:58:02 And those are your expert predictions.
00:58:04 Player to watch out for. Brought to you by Ufone.
00:58:06 Alright Misbah. For you.
00:58:08 Player to watch out for today. Rizwan.
00:58:10 Rizwan. Wasim.
00:58:12 I'll go for Shadab Khan.
00:58:14 Shadab Khan.
00:58:16 Moin. Haris Rauf.
00:58:18 Haris Rauf.
00:58:20 150 plus.
00:58:22 And Shoaib. Captain Babar Azam.
00:58:24 Babar Azam.
00:58:26 And those
00:58:28 are your players to watch out for.
00:58:30 Brought to you by Ufone.
00:58:32 Misbah, keeping in mind the pitch
00:58:34 and the bowling change Afghanistan has done
00:58:36 by bringing in Noor and all that.
00:58:38 What would Pakistan be setting up
00:58:40 as a target mentally?
00:58:42 How much will we keep in mind?
00:58:44 250-270?
00:58:46 Minimum 250.
00:58:48 Anything over 250,
00:58:50 I think that is a very good total on this pitch.
00:58:52 If you look at the average
00:58:54 first inning score, it's 247.
00:58:56 And in this World Cup,
00:58:58 it's 258. So anything
00:59:00 over 250, 270, 280
00:59:02 would be a, I think, winning score.
00:59:04 It's a winning score.
00:59:06 Misbah said earlier
00:59:08 that it's possible that today's attack
00:59:10 will be done with the spin.
00:59:12 Will I, at top order, be able to
00:59:14 utilize that?
00:59:16 Will they go after those spinners?
00:59:18 Or will they be cautious like they have
00:59:20 been generally so far?
00:59:22 From a distance,
00:59:24 it doesn't look like
00:59:26 the pitch is where you
00:59:28 go after the bowlers.
00:59:30 We shouldn't take away
00:59:32 the credit that
00:59:34 their spinners are quality spinners.
00:59:36 So, the most important thing
00:59:38 today will be strike rotation.
00:59:40 If you keep on rotating the strike,
00:59:42 you will get the balls
00:59:44 that you can convert
00:59:46 in the boundaries. So the main
00:59:48 goal should be strike rotation.
00:59:50 That will be the key in today's game.
00:59:52 With Shahdaab Khan coming in,
00:59:54 Mohin, replacing
00:59:56 Nawaz,
00:59:58 how do you look at the middle order?
01:00:00 It's an opportunity
01:00:02 for Shahdaab.
01:00:04 He dropped in the last match.
01:00:06 He should avail it.
01:00:08 Comparatively, as I said,
01:00:10 it's an opposition that doesn't
01:00:12 play well in the middle overs.
01:00:14 They don't convert their
01:00:16 balls in the boundaries.
01:00:18 You have a chance there.
01:00:20 He should bowl wicket to wicket.
01:00:22 I think
01:00:24 he should focus
01:00:26 more on the middle overs.
01:00:28 He should bowl more in the match.
01:00:30 I don't think
01:00:32 that the Afghan batsmen
01:00:34 read the ball well.
01:00:36 I think it's a fair chance for him
01:00:38 against this opposition
01:00:40 to explore his options
01:00:42 and try to get wickets.
01:00:44 Like Mohin said, it's a good thing
01:00:46 because the leg spin is not falling
01:00:48 from the control. So if he
01:00:50 does more of the googly, Rashid...
01:00:52 What is this practice
01:00:54 that he's doing?
01:00:56 He's rolling the wrist spin
01:00:58 with two balls.
01:01:00 He's still done it with two balls.
01:01:02 This is how it is.
01:01:04 When the turn is coming
01:01:06 and he's next,
01:01:08 he also takes two bats
01:01:10 and brings the flow of his arms
01:01:12 so that his body
01:01:14 opens up. Same goes for
01:01:16 a bowler like Rashid
01:01:18 who was doing it with two balls.
01:01:20 So Shahdaab
01:01:22 is doing the googly
01:01:24 in his place. So bring Midoff up.
01:01:26 Keep the off-spin fielding
01:01:28 and go for the attacking option.
01:01:30 Do more of the googly
01:01:32 so that... As a batter,
01:01:34 when you've played a leg spinner,
01:01:36 you think that Midoff
01:01:38 will always be at the back.
01:01:40 No. Do more of the googly
01:01:42 and bring Midoff up. Think out of the box
01:01:44 because you have to
01:01:46 come back in form.
01:01:48 You can see on the screen
01:01:50 that Agha is holding a umbrella.
01:01:52 He's joined hands with Shaheen Shah Preeti
01:01:54 and Iftikhar.
01:01:56 He's holding an umbrella. White umbrella.
01:01:58 Very good.
01:02:00 See this.
01:02:02 There's an umbrella label on it.
01:02:04 Adda to Anil Kapoor.
01:02:06 (Laughs)
01:02:08 See,
01:02:10 he's got two old friends.
01:02:12 Two old friends.
01:02:14 I'll tell you why. Because it's very hot
01:02:16 and when you wear a shirt,
01:02:18 especially in commentary,
01:02:20 they don't get it.
01:02:22 As a talent,
01:02:24 like we're looking good here
01:02:26 with jackets. They say
01:02:28 that you have to do a show
01:02:30 from the ground for an hour or an hour and a half
01:02:32 live with a shirt on
01:02:34 with 40 degrees.
01:02:36 Obviously, you'll have sweat patches all over
01:02:38 and that looks gross.
01:02:40 And I'm all for
01:02:42 feeling that people feel
01:02:44 on the ground. But talent should
01:02:46 look good.
01:02:48 We look like we're not good.
01:02:50 Actually, when you were doing Isha in Dubai,
01:02:52 we could see some of the games.
01:02:54 In Sri Lanka.
01:02:56 An hour and a half post show, pre show.
01:02:58 In the evening, it gets slightly better
01:03:00 but at 2 o'clock,
01:03:02 12-30 starts.
01:03:04 I thought Vakar was trying to protect his
01:03:06 Rangat. No, I don't think so.
01:03:08 Anyway, where I am today, Chennai,
01:03:10 Sri Lanka is very close from there.
01:03:12 Chennai and Colombo are very close.
01:03:14 Similar kind of weather.
01:03:16 Alright, gentlemen. Thank you very much.
01:03:18 Thank you, Muin. Thank you, Misbah.
01:03:20 Thank you, Waseem. Team Pakistan,
01:03:22 best of luck. The entire nation
01:03:24 is rooting for you and we are right behind you.
01:03:26 Best of luck. Babar Azam and
01:03:28 the boys, make us proud.
01:03:30 Go play. Your hearts out.
01:03:32 As long as we see a great game of cricket,
01:03:34 we're all okay with that. With that,
01:03:36 we will see you in mid-innings.
01:03:38 Keep watching A Sports, 10 Sports
01:03:40 and the ARY Zap app.
