00:00 Polish opposition parties led by Donald Tusk are getting ready to discuss a possible coalition
00:05 government. This after official results from Sunday's election showed they'd won enough
00:10 seats between them to oust the ruling Nationalist Law and Justice Party. However, it did win
00:15 the highest number of votes at just over 35%, giving it around 190 seats in the 460-seat
00:22 chamber. So who will actually form the government is complicated and will take some time.
00:28 The first chance will be given to PIS, then the majority in the parliament will nominate
00:35 and elect a new government not coming from PIS, then the president needs to approve and
00:42 if he doesn't, there will be the first step that will finally confirm that PIS is most
00:48 likely out of power, but it will take months.
00:52 Turnout in the polls was a record high of nearly 75%. A coalition government led by
00:57 pro-EU centrists will be a massive shift in Polish politics after eight years of conflict
01:02 with Brussels including over democratic standards and media freedom.
