Facing such a threatening defense could be intimidating, but Purdy is actually excited for the challenge versus the Browns' defense.

00:00 going to be an interesting test and I was going to win the game unless something weird
00:03 happens and they lose to PJ Walker. But it's a it's a really big test for the offense.
00:08 It's the biggest test they faced. It's a big it's a bit. It might be the best defensively.
00:12 It might be better than the Niners defense. It's really stacked and as good as Michael
00:17 Parsons is, Miles Garrett is. Just as good and bigger. So will the plan that the Niners
00:24 used to neutralize Parsons that worked so flawlessly last game also work on Garrett?
00:33 I feel like it's not because I think something with Jim Schwartz having Kyle Shanahan's number
00:38 over the years and him being very dissectable in terms of when he watches game plans and
00:44 stuff like that. I think he's going to look at that film and really emphasize like probably
00:47 brought in Miles Garrett over the shoulder. Be like, look, dude, this is what they did
00:50 to Parsons. We need to avoid this because I'm put you here and if you do get in that
00:54 situation where I think they're just going to be smarter about it because they've seen
00:57 it already. The point is, I have already shown their cards of what they would do to try to
01:01 slow down. It's a pass rusher. And plus, it's not like, you know, necessarily Parsons and
01:05 Garrett are the same, you know, same style of pass rusher, even the same person or player.
01:09 So what works with against Parsons probably won't work against Garrett. I'm sure the players
01:14 will try to implement some of that to a degree. But I think if you're the players, you're
01:17 going to try to like tweak it and somehow I don't know how you're going to mask it with,
01:21 you know, the way they do so many motions. Maybe you get pretty more on the move a little
01:24 bit since Parsons, I would think is a little bit of a faster player than Garrett.
01:28 Cause like you said, Garrett is more stock. He's more bulldozing. I think if you're, if
01:32 you're the specialty of Swartz, you're not going to be a fool like the Cowboys didn't
01:35 and lined up Mark Parsons half the time over Trent Williams. Cause that's pretty much like
01:38 so stupid. It was like, okay, you're pretty much saying thank you. We are going to win
01:42 this rep because it was really stupid in the first place. So I think number one, that's
01:45 going to be, I think they did that. I kind of thought it was a little bit muchismo in
01:50 terms of like, Oh yeah, we're going to put our guy over there on Parsons part. Maybe,
01:55 maybe Parsons wanted it. Maybe he's like, I'm not avoiding Trent Williams. I want this
01:58 because last week when we talked about like, Hey, Mark Parsons, Nick Bosa is number one,
02:03 the league edge rusher, a double team rate, but Michael Parsons is only 4% less. He's
02:07 right there with them. So why not keep them on the same side?
02:10 Frequently puts himself on the left side of the defense to get whatever matchup he wants.
02:14 Like he's not above that. He's not going out there. Like I gotta beat the best blocker
02:18 out here. Like, no, you don't, you just have to get the sack. They do in Parsons. So I
02:22 feel like that's one thing. That's one area where the Browns won't let the Niners off
02:27 the hook. Like hold McKibben is going to have to block miles. Garrett has going to have
02:32 to stinky, not ideal. Not right there. Right? That's where you're going to have to have
02:37 your boy. You stick with ease. Rest of the left. What's the right. And then it has to
02:40 go over there and try to chip miles Garrett, which I'm not too sure how much impact that's
02:45 going to have, but as long as you can slow them up for half a second, that's going to
02:47 matter. So I'll be wondering if the 49ers game plan is going to be more of a quicker
02:51 release game. Cause it kind of felt like they were letting caution. I was letting pretty
02:54 like after you settle in, it was clear that they could handle that pass rush that, okay,
02:57 we can let them sit back there for like two to four seconds now.
03:00 And we're straight. So I think this one is going to be implementing more of like, what
03:04 can we do to work around that? Maybe overload the side that we think is going to be on.
03:07 Cause if you overlaid the side against McKivitt's, how much does George kill Kyle use checks
03:11 and moving away from that is really going to help too much. You know, it kind of, it
03:14 kind of feels like Jim Schwartz is smarter in that sense than Dan Quinn or Micah Parsons
03:18 would be with Gary. Also, I feel like the Niners loaded up to start to stop Parsons
03:23 and Quinn didn't really do much to help Parsons, but with Garrett, it seems like Schwartz is
03:28 doing a lot to help Garrett get sort of freed up. Right. We've seen it. He'll line up on
03:34 one side and then before the snap, he'll run to the other side or he'll stand in front
03:38 of the center and start crossing them over. Like they're being very creative in how they
03:44 get him set up. And it seems like it's very difficult for teams to load up to stop them
03:51 because they don't really know where he's coming from on any given play, which makes
03:55 it more difficult.
03:56 It's pretty much, how do you feel like the matchups aside from player versus player?
03:59 How do you feel about Chris Forster against Jim Schwartz in that sense and his defensive
04:02 line coach and what they can do to like really mix and match with that sense? Because where's
04:07 the really mental? This way, you're gonna be able to keep an eye on him. Like, don't
04:09 get confused. Like, oh, he started on this alignment. All of a sudden he's over here
04:12 and I'm blocking air because that happened. That could happen at times. I mean, that's
04:15 not gonna happen too much to the 49ers offensive line, but it could happen to be a mental lapse.
04:19 It's just gonna be ways where these both teams are gonna try to really put that fake mask
04:23 on and try to see if you can free them up. And then if not, because if you're just going
04:26 heads on, that's not really gonna work out too well in 49ers favor. Again, I know it
04:30 worked well with Parsons, but I just feel like what worked for them isn't gonna remotely
04:34 work halfway near as well as it will for Garrett and the Browns company.
04:38 Yeah, it's gonna be an interesting one. Jim Schwartz is a really good defensive coordinator,
04:46 maybe better than Dan Quinn. And I think Miles Garrett's probably a bigger handful than Michael
04:51 Parsons. You know, I think the Niners do a good job against like undersized pass rushers
04:56 like Parsons, Aaron Donald, but it's the big menacing ones that can overpower him because
05:02 their offensive line isn't that big. Yeah, like that's one on one. Yeah, they can handle
05:08 the speed rushers pretty well. The bulldozers like sometimes the Niners get road graded,
05:12 so it'd be interesting to see they're gonna have to really help Colton Kibitz. I think
05:17 Trent Williams should be able to handle him on his own. I think.
05:22 Last time you had help, he did that against someone who was less of a speed rusher and
05:26 more of just power, just maybe all well rounded TJ watt. That didn't work out too well. Again,
05:30 you know, they blew the blue lid off the Steelers in that game, but there were easily like three
05:34 drives in that game where it's like, okay, this could have been exacerbated in a closer
05:38 matchup against a better team. And this is against, you know, a better defense. And this
05:43 is again, where you're gonna hope if it does get to that point where you're not really
05:45 having too many answers or enough to slow down Garrett that okay, 49ers defense, where
05:49 you at PJ Walker, pick them off, score some points, hold them to less than 13 because
05:54 all we got to do is get to 20 and we're winning or 1316 whatever.
05:59 Do you think Dorian Thompson Robinson, the first we'll play in this game? It's up on.
06:07 No, I don't think you will because if he wanted to play, they were starting them. I think
06:11 they're kind of, I feel like the fancy was kind of pissed at his last game for some reason
06:15 when it's like, why are you pissed at him? So Sean Watson was the one who really used
06:18 to be pissed at because he kind of left you guys hanging. He was reported as questionable
06:22 that he was on track to play. Then he wakes up. He's like, I'm good fam. I'm I'm I'm gonna
06:28 go count my dollars. You know why shoulder he has a shoulder contusion probably from
06:31 flipping too many bills as he checks because there's no way he's doing it from throwing
06:34 passes because he sucks. Wow. I like it. I like it.
