Helen Pyper, owner of Tiled in Marmion Road, Southsea, is taking part in the Great South Run on Sunday, October 15, but instead of asking for money donations, she is asking for people to donate bags of crisps which will be donated to Sophie's Legacy who offer support to children and families in hospital and they go through 700 bags of crisps each week.

00:00 I'm Helen from Tylde in South Sea, Miami and Road.
00:04 And tell me what you're going to be doing.
00:05 I'm going to be running the Great Self Run on Sunday
00:08 and I've been asking for donations of crisps to fill the bath that's in my shop window.
00:15 They will be given to charity for Sophie's Legacy
00:18 who will use them in the snack box scheme in hospitals.
00:22 So tell me how you feel about the amount of donations you've been getting of crisps.
00:26 It's been overwhelming actually because the bath is quite visual
00:31 so there's been complete strangers who know nothing about me and the business
00:37 that have seen the shop, have seen the signs and the bath and wanted to donate.
00:42 I've had parents as well that have benefited from the snack box scheme
00:46 so they've obviously felt compelled to add to the bath of crisps.
00:51 Equally customers, friends and family.
00:54 And I'm pleased to say I'm brimming if not certainly full at the moment.
00:59 And what made you choose the crisps option not for donations?
01:04 I think this moment in time it's quite difficult to be asking for money donations from people
01:10 and I think with crisps people can give as little, as much as they want.
01:15 And it felt like it also has a direct impact to the charity
01:21 and it's a quite nice visual thing to do.
01:24 So you were saying earlier, but just to touch on what the response has been like
01:28 and how you feel about the run on Sunday.
01:31 It's come quite quickly the run, I'm not going to lie.
01:35 So a couple more days to go.
01:37 I have put some training in this time, this will be my third time running.
01:41 I have raised money before for Sophie's Legacy
01:43 hence why I thought I'd change it up a little bit this year.
01:47 But the weather looks good, it looks cold, it looks sunny.
01:50 But yeah, I'm really, really motivated now the bath's full.
01:53 So thanks very much to everyone.
01:55 Are you still open for donations of crisps?
01:57 Absolutely, I am a donation point for Sophie's Legacy anyway.
02:01 So moving forward if anybody wanted to donate you're welcome to at any time.
02:05 But for the purpose of the bath and the crisps
02:08 I'm open until 3 o'clock on Saturday when we'll be doing the big count
02:13 and I'll be able to reveal how many we've managed to collect.
