00:00:00 - Perdea.
00:00:01 - And Peridea. - Peridea.
00:00:02 - Damn.
00:00:03 - Peridea. - Drawn.
00:00:04 - Yes. - Yay.
00:00:06 And then we have Ahsoka and Ezra and Sabine.
00:00:11 And then Shinran away.
00:00:12 - Shinran did--
00:00:14 - Well not, but after her master's like,
00:00:16 "Well, where did he go?"
00:00:19 - He is on his own path.
00:00:21 He said that he's on a direction that she cannot be on.
00:00:24 He wishes her well in the new empire,
00:00:26 but Balin is doing something.
00:00:27 - Monk fighting.
00:00:28 - And that was the subject of our poll.
00:00:30 What is Balin searching for?
00:00:32 17% of people that responded to our poll
00:00:35 at blindwave.com said,
00:00:36 "Something we know of from current canon."
00:00:40 36% said, "Something new."
00:00:44 And 46% said, "Something from Star Wars Legends."
00:00:48 So most people are thinking something from Star Wars Legends.
00:00:50 Look at some of the responses
00:00:52 to see what their ideas were.
00:00:54 Someone said, "Dave Filoni wrote the show."
00:00:57 So Balin's definitely searching for a wolf.
00:00:59 - I mean, that's very possible.
00:01:01 That's a true thing.
00:01:02 - That's always the answer.
00:01:04 - He does that a lot.
00:01:05 - Regardless of what else he's looking for.
00:01:08 It's for stepping stone.
00:01:10 - The Grisk?
00:01:14 - Okay.
00:01:15 - The Grisk I think are in the unknown region
00:01:16 of our current galaxy, but--
00:01:19 - I don't think that that would connect
00:01:20 to a force thing that Balin's sensing though.
00:01:24 - I have no idea where this is going,
00:01:26 so I voted something new.
00:01:27 Whatever happens though, I'm all here for it.
00:01:29 - I like to hear that.
00:01:31 - I think he's looking to destroy the force itself.
00:01:36 - That sounds like a bad idea.
00:01:38 And I know it doesn't work.
00:01:40 - It did awaken.
00:01:42 Maybe he destroys it and then he's awakening.
00:01:45 - Maybe, okay.
00:01:46 - I have no fucking idea.
00:01:48 Screw it, Abeloth.
00:01:52 Abeloth from old legends.
00:01:55 - I think it could be an ancient Sith temple.
00:01:58 Yeah, we have one person saying Bendu,
00:02:01 we have some people saying maybe like Mortis
00:02:03 and the force gods, maybe the priestesses
00:02:06 and the wellspring of the force.
00:02:07 There's a lot of different things.
00:02:08 Bendu is interesting just because it does have
00:02:09 that connection with Thrawn specifically,
00:02:12 but what's the connection with Balin?
00:02:14 Why is Balin hearing that call?
00:02:15 That's interesting to me.
00:02:16 - What's the call?
00:02:17 - So there's a lot of questions.
00:02:19 We'll see what is answered in this episode
00:02:21 for this first season.
00:02:23 But you know what?
00:02:24 Not everything can be answered.
00:02:26 You gotta have patience.
00:02:27 Balin said last episode, right, he said--
00:02:31 - Have patience.
00:02:32 - Yep.
00:02:32 (laughing)
00:02:33 And patience for victory will guarantee defeat.
00:02:37 So we're not gonna be able to get everything done
00:02:38 in this episode or even in this reaction video.
00:02:40 However, tomorrow we have our Star Wars podcast
00:02:45 Badonkagonk going on.
00:02:46 We're gonna be talking about various things
00:02:49 like A New Dawn, which is a book about Hera
00:02:51 and Kanan Jarrus, pretty appropriate
00:02:53 for what we've been seeing so far.
00:02:55 We're also gonna be having a Kanan discussion
00:02:59 about maybe some of the top moments of Kanan so far.
00:03:03 I say so far 'cause you never know
00:03:04 when you're gonna get new stories.
00:03:05 - True.
00:03:06 - And then also we're gonna be having
00:03:07 a really big, awesome Ahsoka Q&A live.
00:03:11 So make sure you guys are right here on Wavesquad.
00:03:13 Make sure you're subscribed.
00:03:14 And tomorrow that's gonna be popping up
00:03:16 around 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
00:03:18 So come over, get your questions in about Ahsoka
00:03:21 that we don't get to address specifically in this video.
00:03:24 Maybe we'll let it stew a little bit in our heads
00:03:28 before we can really bring out some big questions
00:03:30 about the future of what these stories are.
00:03:31 So come on. - Where we're going.
00:03:33 - We're gonna have a fantastic time
00:03:34 and it's always cool to be there live
00:03:36 because literally we'll answer as many questions as we can.
00:03:39 All right, you ready? - Yep.
00:03:41 - Let's do it. - Yep.
00:03:42 - Jesus. - Oh my God.
00:03:43 - There is little the Jedi can do to stop us now.
00:03:49 - I've watched many an Imperial officer
00:03:52 make the same assumptions about the Rebellion.
00:03:54 Even I fell victim to the heroics of a single Jedi.
00:04:02 Never again.
00:04:05 - Come forward.
00:04:09 - I'm gonna bless her.
00:04:12 - I feel like they're gonna do something to her.
00:04:16 - She's gonna get all helped out.
00:04:17 I was gonna say, she's gonna get Savage oppressed.
00:04:20 Face tattoos.
00:04:29 - Is that what this is?
00:04:31 Maybe they're gonna make her all pale and stuff.
00:04:34 - It's like the White Hand of Sauron.
00:04:36 It's like the black face tattoos of Saruman, Kali.
00:04:42 - What'd that do?
00:04:46 - Wow, it was three mothers, now it's four.
00:04:51 - Is that what that does?
00:04:53 - She gets a stone.
00:04:55 - She'll get a hat with three points.
00:04:57 - Is it a blade, like when they're talisman use?
00:05:07 - Yeah.
00:05:08 - She fought with the spear.
00:05:13 - Fuck yeah it is.
00:05:15 - This is the god daughter of Bruce Lee.
00:05:18 - Oak Talisman.
00:05:21 - Oh, Blade of Talisman.
00:05:23 Definitely can resist a lightsaber.
00:05:32 Nah, that sounds ridiculous.
00:05:34 - It's Night Sister magic.
00:05:37 - Thawne's like, there goes the two ties.
00:05:43 - Two ties.
00:05:44 - I love that shot, that's so cool.
00:05:46 He's like, fuck yeah, my companion just got leveled up.
00:05:50 - Should I have the witch and the warlord?
00:05:54 (laughing)
00:05:57 - That was a little nomad group.
00:06:05 - I like that they set the pace.
00:06:10 - Yep.
00:06:12 - Oh, you got Huwain with you too, don't you?
00:06:14 - Yeah.
00:06:16 - What's he gonna make?
00:06:18 - Not going to work, what are you talking about?
00:06:21 Who taught you how to build a lightsaber anyway?
00:06:24 - Kanan Jarrus.
00:06:25 - Kanan Jarrus.
00:06:27 - Is that so?
00:06:28 - Yeah.
00:06:30 - He was my master.
00:06:31 - And I taught him how to build a lightsaber.
00:06:36 - What?
00:06:37 - Of course.
00:06:38 Now it all makes sense.
00:06:40 (dramatic music)
00:06:43 - Dude, that's Kanan's figure.
00:06:46 It looks just like it.
00:06:47 - Yep.
00:06:48 - I had two of those.
00:06:50 Kanan took one, the other I held onto
00:06:52 in case he ever needed it.
00:06:54 It is proper that you should have it.
00:06:57 - It is, it is so proper, I love that.
00:07:00 - The midder's too narrow.
00:07:02 - We got it right up here.
00:07:04 - Yep.
00:07:04 (laughing)
00:07:06 - Fuck, that's so cool.
00:07:07 (dramatic music)
00:07:11 - What color, blue?
00:07:12 I want to go blue.
00:07:13 Yes!
00:07:14 - Well.
00:07:15 - Matches our eyes.
00:07:15 - That's a good sky blue too.
00:07:17 - What happened between those two?
00:07:21 What did I miss?
00:07:23 - Yeah, I need to know that.
00:07:24 - At the end of the war,
00:07:26 the Empire purged the entire surface of the planet,
00:07:30 killing hundreds of thousands.
00:07:31 - So it was part of Operation Cinder?
00:07:35 - I guess.
00:07:36 At the time, Ahsoka felt that if Sabine
00:07:38 unlocked her potential, she would become dangerous.
00:07:42 - So the Night of a Thousand Tears was Operation Cinder.
00:07:48 Is that what happened at the end of the war?
00:07:53 - That's what he said.
00:07:54 - Hey, let's go, just finished.
00:07:58 - There's those two ties.
00:08:01 As you find them, engage.
00:08:05 (lasers blasting)
00:08:08 - Oh no.
00:08:11 - We've lost the stabilizer.
00:08:12 - Oh man.
00:08:15 - Keep it up!
00:08:16 - Oh gosh.
00:08:18 - Get out of here people.
00:08:20 - Now!
00:08:21 - Cut in half.
00:08:27 - Oh!
00:08:29 - Damn!
00:08:29 - Fuck.
00:08:30 That's not good for the ship though.
00:08:34 - It's going down.
00:08:36 - Dang.
00:08:36 How the heck are we gonna get off this planet now?
00:08:41 - We gotta--
00:08:42 - I don't know how we were gonna get off it really before.
00:08:43 I mean, we couldn't hyperspeed away.
00:08:45 - That's Huyen's ship.
00:08:51 - The T6.
00:08:51 - The options to prevent our departure
00:08:55 are now severely limited, if not impossible.
00:08:58 Which is why we should prepare for a ground assault.
00:09:04 - Immediately.
00:09:05 - He's not wasting any time.
00:09:08 - Are they all working together?
00:09:15 - Go now.
00:09:15 Let none pass.
00:09:18 - They were made of ware.
00:09:24 - They were.
00:09:24 All were honored to make the sacrifice for you.
00:09:30 - It is for the Empire.
00:09:32 The security of our galaxy.
00:09:34 - Made of ware of what?
00:09:37 Like they won't make it on the ship?
00:09:38 - They're not coming back, yeah.
00:09:40 - It's like you will stay there until we leave.
00:09:43 - Oh dude, the eye of Sion is so big.
00:09:46 - It is.
00:09:47 - I'm doing the best I can,
00:09:49 however I cannot promise anything.
00:09:51 - You've kept her in the sky longer than I've been alive.
00:09:55 (shrieking)
00:09:57 - Do not wait for me.
00:09:58 (laughing)
00:10:01 - I hope he doesn't get left here.
00:10:02 - Throw the laser fire.
00:10:06 - Destroy cities.
00:10:09 - It is, but they're not insanely accurate.
00:10:11 They don't really need to be though.
00:10:15 - No.
00:10:15 - Hanzo, the gate.
00:10:17 Sabine, help out.
00:10:29 (explosions)
00:10:32 - How much do you think Sabine helps?
00:10:34 - Oh!
00:10:35 - Oh god, man.
00:10:36 - One percent.
00:10:37 - It's cool, and they all have different colors too.
00:10:47 - Fall back, draw them out.
00:10:49 - I like that Sabine has to rely on Veskar a lot more.
00:10:53 - Sabine, blasters.
00:10:56 - Switch out.
00:10:58 (gunfire)
00:11:01 - He's gonna have to shield.
00:11:02 - Go Ezra!
00:11:03 (laughing)
00:11:05 - Oh man, I miss cannon.
00:11:07 - Yeah.
00:11:08 - I could have just like, I don't know.
00:11:09 (laughing)
00:11:12 - Oh, that was cool.
00:11:13 - There we go.
00:11:19 - Oh!
00:11:20 (speaking in foreign language)
00:11:25 - Yep.
00:11:28 - They have the blessing too.
00:11:30 - Yep.
00:11:31 - Oh, look at the eyes are green.
00:11:36 - That was cool.
00:11:37 Yeah, 'cause there's death triggers.
00:11:41 (laughing)
00:11:44 - Not going down.
00:11:46 - You get shot, don't care.
00:11:48 - It is zombie-like, oh my gosh.
00:11:53 - I'm gonna move.
00:11:54 (gunfire)
00:11:56 - Come on, my jet.
00:11:59 - Sabine!
00:12:00 (gunfire)
00:12:02 - Careful, careful!
00:12:03 - Careful!
00:12:04 - I'm gonna trust Veskar.
00:12:08 - All right, Sabine.
00:12:11 - Good job, Sabine, when she's protecting someone.
00:12:14 - All right.
00:12:23 - Let's get going.
00:12:24 - Let's go.
00:12:25 - You know how badly I want Ezra to be like,
00:12:27 this helmet's cool, take one.
00:12:29 (laughing)
00:12:31 At least Enoch's, you know?
00:12:32 - Yeah, Enoch's would be good.
00:12:34 - Does she have to stay behind?
00:12:43 - Life.
00:12:44 (gunshot)
00:12:50 - That's a cool ignition.
00:12:52 (roaring)
00:12:54 - Lightsaber throw.
00:12:56 (laughing)
00:12:57 - But he had to.
00:12:58 - Behind, right?
00:12:59 - I feel like her job should have been to stop them
00:13:00 for as long as she could, not let two of them go by.
00:13:03 Maneuvering the magic is neat.
00:13:07 Yeah, I love the big sparks that come out.
00:13:11 And she can hold the one part of the blade, too,
00:13:13 which is cool.
00:13:13 - I like her, but she's the best fighter
00:13:16 in the show so far.
00:13:17 - Yeah.
00:13:18 - That's amazing.
00:13:19 - That's incredible.
00:13:20 - She can get pain.
00:13:21 - Such intention.
00:13:22 - I like this weapon.
00:13:25 - Zarya's doing great, too, look at that.
00:13:26 - I like this weapon better than when she used the polearm.
00:13:29 - Yeah.
00:13:30 - Yeah.
00:13:30 - Oh, that was, that was so good.
00:13:35 Oh, I wanna see the face.
00:13:39 Look at that.
00:13:41 Yeah, dude.
00:13:42 - It is, it's all fucked.
00:13:43 - Holy shit.
00:13:47 At least some of them then must have already been dead,
00:13:49 right?
00:13:50 - Yeah.
00:13:51 It's been dead for a while.
00:13:53 - It didn't look like, yeah,
00:13:53 like he just died a second ago and then revived.
00:13:56 - Oh.
00:13:57 - Come on.
00:13:59 - He leg it through his head.
00:14:01 - Let me creep.
00:14:02 - Ah.
00:14:05 - Oh.
00:14:09 - You look like you're in the brain.
00:14:10 - And Ezra didn't help.
00:14:11 I was worried he was--
00:14:12 - Oh, yeah, he was like, doing a thing.
00:14:15 - That was cool.
00:14:20 - Dude.
00:14:21 - Hurry, hurry.
00:14:22 Hurry, hurry.
00:14:23 - You got a big--
00:14:26 - Jump, Ezra.
00:14:27 - Too late.
00:14:28 - Slingshot Sabine.
00:14:31 Slingshot Sabine.
00:14:33 - She doesn't have Rising Phoenix, but--
00:14:35 - She doesn't have as big of a force jump either.
00:14:37 - No.
00:14:38 - That's what they usually utilize.
00:14:40 - I appreciate the confidence.
00:14:41 - No, I push you first and you pull me across.
00:14:43 (claps)
00:14:44 - Spin.
00:14:45 - Ezra.
00:14:46 - Wasted time.
00:14:47 - I can do this.
00:14:49 - Trust me.
00:14:50 - Oh my God, if she doesn't do it.
00:14:51 - Ah.
00:14:55 - I push you, you pull me.
00:14:56 - Ezra.
00:15:03 - Fuck yeah.
00:15:06 - Such an Ezra Kanin move.
00:15:07 - Oh shit.
00:15:08 Cheeky hand.
00:15:11 - There he is.
00:15:14 (gunshot)
00:15:16 - Good shot.
00:15:19 - Ah, Ahsoka.
00:15:20 - Damn, again?
00:15:22 - She gonna stay to have Ahsoka?
00:15:27 Nope, okay.
00:15:30 Morgana's scary.
00:15:32 - Oh no.
00:15:34 - Fuck, just the one now.
00:15:37 - Oh, Ahsoka.
00:15:38 - Dang.
00:15:42 - Ooh, dude, that was a bump.
00:15:43 - Was that her?
00:15:45 - Yeah.
00:15:45 - Yeah, that was her.
00:15:46 - That was her.
00:15:47 - Dude, she's embarrassing.
00:15:48 - And you will die here.
00:15:50 Alone.
00:15:52 - They gave her the double voicey thing too, huh?
00:15:55 - Not alone.
00:15:56 - Oh, she did stay.
00:15:58 I thought she left, okay.
00:16:03 - So we are doing the Thrawn and Ezra again.
00:16:06 - Yeah.
00:16:07 - I like the blocking with the Beskar, like the.
00:16:08 - Yeah, she's wholly unique there.
00:16:11 - Yeah.
00:16:12 - Oh.
00:16:17 - Oh, both.
00:16:18 I love how the sword like, de-ignited when it cut her.
00:16:23 - Damn it.
00:16:27 - Maybe Huyang will make it.
00:16:28 - 757 here, copy.
00:16:35 - That's for the heads up.
00:16:40 - That's so Ezra.
00:16:43 - He's gonna change all of his champions.
00:16:45 - Yeah, it's a classic Ezra move.
00:16:48 He's like, I haven't gone for a while,
00:16:49 I'll just use the same methods I used to use.
00:16:51 Oh, damn.
00:16:57 Fuck.
00:16:59 You gotta give him that shit, that's your only way.
00:17:05 Oh man, I didn't realize how fast they got up there, man.
00:17:07 - It's got crazy engines.
00:17:11 - I guess, like it felt like it was just down there
00:17:13 shooting that tower.
00:17:15 - Perhaps this is where a role in such a shoe belongs.
00:17:20 Today, victory is mine.
00:17:27 - A free samurai.
00:17:28 - Long live the empire.
00:17:30 - Yeah, I don't think they made it in time.
00:17:40 - Fuck.
00:17:41 - How did you get here?
00:17:52 - Interesting.
00:17:55 - The Moirai is in a different galaxy.
00:17:57 That is really interesting.
00:17:59 - He's the--
00:18:06 - The bandits?
00:18:06 - The bandits, yeah.
00:18:07 (ominous music)
00:18:10 - Is she gonna be their leader?
00:18:19 - What is wrong with this guy?
00:18:20 - What's that twinkle?
00:18:21 - Nothing, the face.
00:18:23 He's on fingers, huh?
00:18:24 - He's on a thumb.
00:18:26 - No, it is a--
00:18:28 - Yeah, it's a pointing finger.
00:18:31 - Is that the father and the son?
00:18:32 - It is. - Yes.
00:18:33 - And the daughter? - And the daughter.
00:18:34 - So there's more statues.
00:18:36 - Check the aggro or not.
00:18:37 What is he pointing at?
00:18:38 - Sparkle.
00:18:39 - If it's a living mountain.
00:18:41 (laughing)
00:18:44 - Mountain. - A living mountain.
00:18:46 - Yeah, it's an old legend.
00:18:47 - All cargo.
00:18:55 - There's so many cargoes.
00:18:57 - Night sisters?
00:18:58 You know, they're just bringing the night sisters back?
00:19:00 Is that the idea?
00:19:01 Like, what are you doing?
00:19:02 - I mean, he could have an army of night sisters.
00:19:05 That'd be nuts.
00:19:06 (dramatic music)
00:19:09 - Having Andrew here should be proof.
00:19:13 - He did get a helmet.
00:19:15 - He got a helmet, yeah.
00:19:16 (laughing)
00:19:18 - He recognized him.
00:19:21 - Ezra?
00:19:35 - It's gotta be so confusing.
00:19:37 - Hi, Hera.
00:19:39 - Hi, Mom.
00:19:42 - So happy to see family,
00:19:47 but the realization how he got here.
00:19:50 - I wanted to meet Jason so bad.
00:19:52 - What is it?
00:19:55 I felt like...
00:19:59 Nothing.
00:20:04 Just shadows in the starlight.
00:20:06 - I see you.
00:20:13 - Hell yeah. - Dang it.
00:20:33 - Oh, this was rick.
00:20:34 - I mean, you know.
00:20:35 - All right, that was our reaction.
00:20:38 We're gonna be going right into the discussion.
00:20:40 Also remember, we're gonna be having
00:20:41 Badonka Gunk tomorrow,
00:20:42 so if you have any burning questions,
00:20:44 you guys need to come live and watch that
00:20:46 and submit those questions.
00:20:47 And subscribe because pretty soon on the channel too,
00:20:50 I'm gonna be going through Jedi Survivor as well.
00:20:53 So there's gonna be some great stuff
00:20:55 happening at Wave Squadron.
00:20:56 You don't wanna miss it.
00:20:56 Right now, though, let's discuss this episode.
00:20:59 I have one great disappointment.
00:21:03 - The Balin story that we got so far?
00:21:05 - Well, I mean, I'm not disappointed in the story.
00:21:07 I'm disappointed that Rey didn't get to say anything.
00:21:09 - The story we got so far doesn't have a conclusion to it.
00:21:11 And we know that they're not gonna have
00:21:13 more Rey Stevenson.
00:21:14 - And I wasn't exactly even expecting anything either.
00:21:17 It's just that Rey won't be there to continue that story.
00:21:22 So I hope that, I mean, I want the character recast.
00:21:27 I want it to continue.
00:21:28 I don't want it to be like a thing where it's like,
00:21:30 well, only he can play it.
00:21:33 I don't own the Black Panther.
00:21:33 I wanna continue that story.
00:21:35 But yeah, very intriguing that the Mortis Gods are there.
00:21:41 I mean, it doesn't tell us anything other than,
00:21:47 hey, it's answering a mystery
00:21:49 by appealing to a greater mystery, right?
00:21:52 - I mean, it's definitely pushing the idea that
00:21:55 the Force is only in our galaxy.
00:21:56 It doesn't seem to be the case, right?
00:21:57 We have the Force here in this other galaxy.
00:21:59 The Mortis Gods are connected somehow.
00:22:02 Anakin's ghost was here looking on.
00:22:06 There's elements of the Force that we talked about,
00:22:10 whether it was just this galaxy
00:22:11 or if it was other galaxies.
00:22:12 - Sure.
00:22:13 - There's definitely a connection
00:22:14 in a wider array of locations.
00:22:17 But what exactly it means,
00:22:19 I mean, I'm assuming he's looking towards something,
00:22:21 things related to the World Between Worlds.
00:22:23 - Yeah.
00:22:25 - He said something at one point about the beginning
00:22:27 or something, I forget.
00:22:29 - Balint?
00:22:30 - Yeah, I'm trying to remember what he said.
00:22:31 - It's about how the cycles continue,
00:22:33 these cycles of violence,
00:22:34 and to find the end of this cycle,
00:22:36 he needs to find the beginning.
00:22:37 - Yeah.
00:22:38 - So he found this Agronoth version of the Mortis Gods,
00:22:43 though, curiously, the daughter has no head.
00:22:48 - Yeah.
00:22:49 - 'Cause the daughter, you know,
00:22:50 I mean, all the Mortis Gods are gone,
00:22:51 but the daughter is Ahsoka in a way.
00:22:54 I mean, the Mori shows up here.
00:22:56 The bird that we saw here is something
00:22:59 that's kind of like haunted/followed Ahsoka.
00:23:02 And curiously, in her show, it hasn't shown up until now,
00:23:07 which I think is interesting.
00:23:09 But I mean, if you can say that Ahsoka
00:23:16 is kind of like the daughter,
00:23:17 and Anakin is kind of like the father,
00:23:19 could Balin be like the son?
00:23:21 Maybe there's gonna be something with that, I don't know.
00:23:24 Honestly, while there's elements of me,
00:23:27 especially when it comes to Ray Stevenson
00:23:29 being able to do what he does, that is disappointing.
00:23:33 I'm very excited that we actually
00:23:35 didn't get those answers, right?
00:23:36 'Cause that implies that there is a plan,
00:23:38 that we're moving forward with something.
00:23:40 - Sure.
00:23:41 - One of the big criticisms of the sequel trilogy,
00:23:42 people being like, "Hey, it didn't have a plan,"
00:23:44 and all that stuff.
00:23:46 I imagine a lot of those same people might be upset
00:23:48 by not getting answers in this,
00:23:49 but I feel like you can't have both criticisms.
00:23:53 - Well, sure.
00:23:54 Like, I knew that we were gonna have
00:23:56 whatever the movie day is gonna be doing.
00:23:57 I knew we weren't gonna be wrapping everything up
00:23:59 with Grand Amethystal, you know?
00:24:01 I still had some thoughts where it's like,
00:24:03 I wonder if Balin could be like,
00:24:04 when they say, "Needn't stop it,"
00:24:06 from the beginning kind of thing and whatnot,
00:24:10 could he be trying to find the world between worlds
00:24:12 and going way back to when the Force is found?
00:24:14 Like, you talk about, could he be trying,
00:24:15 whether you or you, could he try to destroy the Force,
00:24:17 or something like that?
00:24:19 - Someone said that in one of the comments of the poll, yeah.
00:24:21 - Yeah, so if it is something along those lines,
00:24:24 could he find the world between worlds in some way
00:24:26 and go back, and maybe he's a catalyst for us
00:24:29 to learn about how the Force was founded?
00:24:31 - Sure.
00:24:32 - 'Cause there's supposed to be that movie coming out, too,
00:24:33 and there's that idea of, like,
00:24:34 is things gonna have any connection to what we know,
00:24:37 or is it gonna be like, we just go really far back,
00:24:39 we have new characters, new everything,
00:24:40 and there's no, like, like, Balin could be a vehicle
00:24:43 that we use to see how things are found
00:24:45 and maybe even be the, I don't know,
00:24:49 protagonist or antagonist of that story, too, you know?
00:24:51 - Sure.
00:24:52 - Depending on what it is.
00:24:53 - Yeah.
00:24:54 - But.
00:24:54 - I don't know.
00:24:57 I'm excited for the future.
00:24:59 But in terms of just what we saw here, you know,
00:25:03 Thrawn's back.
00:25:04 - On Dathomir.
00:25:07 - On Dathomir, with a bunch of caskets.
00:25:10 - I'm assuming night sisters,
00:25:11 like, I figured they're bringing the night sisters.
00:25:13 - With the line that he said he woke up the witches,
00:25:16 to me, implies that there are more witches to be woken up,
00:25:18 and that's what's in there.
00:25:20 - Yeah, Ezra said that, right?
00:25:22 - Yeah. - Mm-hmm.
00:25:23 - Yeah, he said, like, before Thrawn came here
00:25:26 and woke the witches, this place wasn't safe to come to.
00:25:28 - Yeah, and I think maybe you could say
00:25:30 that's one of the reasons that they seem to be
00:25:32 in service of him, like they help him.
00:25:34 - It makes more sense that way,
00:25:35 'cause I was like, why are they listening to him?
00:25:37 - Yeah, well, 'cause I mean.
00:25:39 - Like, Mother Talzin, like, she could make alliances,
00:25:42 but it felt like they were kinda like letting him lead.
00:25:44 I felt like Mother Talzin,
00:25:45 if she was in this predicament kinda thing,
00:25:47 she'd be like, taking over.
00:25:47 - I mean, Talzin, like, in my opinion,
00:25:51 Talzin and the Nightsisters were kind of,
00:25:53 they weren't as egotistical as the Sith are,
00:25:55 and some of the Imperial people.
00:25:57 Like, Talzin will just kind of let Palpatine and Dooku,
00:26:00 yeah, they're in charge, they think they're in charge.
00:26:02 I'll give 'em one of my enemy,
00:26:04 you know, one of my Nightbrothers to train,
00:26:06 and I'll give 'em another one to train,
00:26:07 but, you know, when push came to shove,
00:26:10 Talzin burst out of Dooku's chest and tried to choke him,
00:26:12 you know? (laughs)
00:26:13 - Yeah.
00:26:14 - So, I think that the Nightsisters, like, you know,
00:26:18 they could very well have their own plans
00:26:20 and their own goals and stuff,
00:26:22 and it's just, right now, it's aligned with Thrawn,
00:26:24 but maybe later they won't be, I don't know.
00:26:28 But if Thrawn is trying to create a new empire
00:26:31 out of the shadow of the others,
00:26:33 I mean, the Nightsisters can be his replacement for Vader,
00:26:36 his replacement for the Inquisitors,
00:26:38 his replacement for the Jedi, you know?
00:26:40 You could have each one of those caskets
00:26:43 in command of a Legion, you know?
00:26:45 That would be nuts.
00:26:46 I'm not really sure exactly what they're gonna do with it,
00:26:49 but he's back.
00:26:51 - I don't know what this does for Mare,
00:26:53 like, a lot of her stuff, especially,
00:26:56 from Jedi Survivor, Jedi Fallen Order,
00:26:59 and Jedi Battle Scars, like, a lot of her things,
00:27:01 like being the last, you know, Nightsister,
00:27:03 and that there are no others,
00:27:04 and, you know, kind of being lost
00:27:06 with that kind of stuff, too, like, this here, you know?
00:27:11 If she's around at any point, you know, at this point here,
00:27:13 like, what does she think about all this, you know?
00:27:16 - Yeah, I mean, I can't speak to anything
00:27:17 that she did in Survivor, which, again,
00:27:19 make sure you guys subscribe,
00:27:20 'cause I will be going through that
00:27:21 here in about a month or so, is when I'm gonna be starting.
00:27:24 But it's also, it's a pretty extended time
00:27:27 that, between that and--
00:27:29 - Sure, that's what I'm saying,
00:27:30 like, if she is still around or anything during that time.
00:27:32 - Yeah, I mean, yeah, I'm not really sure.
00:27:35 Mare is pretty capable with the flame,
00:27:39 what do they call it, in,
00:27:41 like, she refers to it in that book as, like,
00:27:44 the flame or a fire.
00:27:46 - Oh, the green magic.
00:27:47 - Yeah.
00:27:48 - That's something specific.
00:27:50 - I don't remember.
00:27:51 - In terms of, like, what we've seen,
00:27:52 she is way closer to Talzin
00:27:54 than what we've seen from the Great Mothers.
00:27:56 Yeah.
00:27:58 - Well, surely Mare couldn't be the last,
00:28:02 because, what's her name, here, that led--
00:28:07 - Morgan. - Morgan Thrawn.
00:28:09 - Morgan Thrawn. - Morgan Elsberg.
00:28:10 - Yeah, but there's gonna be something different,
00:28:11 I feel like, with her, as well.
00:28:13 Like, she's more, like, undercover, I guess.
00:28:16 - Morgan kind of feels like a cultural Nightsister,
00:28:18 in a way, like, she practices, but,
00:28:22 it felt like she, like, once the Great Mothers contacted her,
00:28:24 she, like, went more into it, in a way,
00:28:26 is what it kind of felt like to me.
00:28:28 - Yeah, 'cause I didn't even feel like she was a Nightsister
00:28:31 the first time we met her at Mandalorian,
00:28:33 and then here, she looked, in this series,
00:28:34 she looked more like a Nightsister,
00:28:35 and then they did the burn thing, and, yeah, like--
00:28:39 - Emphasized.
00:28:40 - Inducted her into the sisterhood.
00:28:42 - Into the sisterhood.
00:28:43 (laughing)
00:28:44 - The Blade of Talzin thing is cool,
00:28:46 I wonder if they can do that for all of the other
00:28:50 sisters that might awaken, you know?
00:28:51 - I wonder if Talzin is directly related to Mother Talzin,
00:28:54 or if it's more of like a--
00:28:56 - A title.
00:28:56 - Well, a title, or like a, you know,
00:28:59 like, you could have a god, and, like,
00:29:00 there's people named after something else, right?
00:29:02 - A clan, too. - Or, like--
00:29:03 - You could have a clan, maybe.
00:29:04 - Sure, yeah.
00:29:05 - Yeah.
00:29:06 - So, I was just wondering, like,
00:29:07 when they said the Blade of Talzin, I'm like,
00:29:08 okay, I'm thinking of Mother Talzin,
00:29:09 but maybe it has something higher that it's meaning,
00:29:13 and she was just, like, a part of that,
00:29:15 or named after it, or whatever.
00:29:17 - Either intentionally or coincidentally,
00:29:18 it also kind of reminded me of the blade
00:29:21 that they find on Mortis.
00:29:23 - That Obi-Wan wields to try to kill the sun,
00:29:26 that ends up killing those gods.
00:29:29 - Or Celestials, or whatever you want to call them.
00:29:32 - I'm trying to remember what it looked like.
00:29:34 - Yeah.
00:29:34 - It was--
00:29:35 - Did it have a fire?
00:29:36 - It--
00:29:37 - It didn't.
00:29:38 - It had certain effects to it,
00:29:39 but it kind of had that, like, materialization look to it.
00:29:41 It was a lot more, like, pyramid-shaped in its blade,
00:29:44 you know, but I just, you know,
00:29:46 in terms of magical blades,
00:29:49 there are now three that I think of.
00:29:51 The one that Talzin had,
00:29:52 this one, and the Mortis one.
00:29:56 And then I suppose you could say maybe
00:29:59 Savage Repress's, like, ax thing that he used for a while.
00:30:03 That it was kind of a haste.
00:30:04 - Yeah, the blade thing.
00:30:05 - I'm glad that Ezra made it back home.
00:30:07 - Yeah, that was sweet.
00:30:08 We also, like, lost Sabine and Ahsoka.
00:30:11 They're still here on this place.
00:30:13 Which, I mean, Shin and Balen are too,
00:30:15 so I assume the idea is, like,
00:30:16 those two and these two are still here.
00:30:18 - Yeah.
00:30:19 - And then maybe Ezra.
00:30:20 I mean, having Ezra back should hopefully shed light
00:30:23 to that stupid councilman.
00:30:25 (Ezra whimpers)
00:30:26 - Yeah.
00:30:26 - Right, of like, "Hey, look, here's Ezra."
00:30:29 You know?
00:30:30 Like, "We were telling some truths.
00:30:32 "How did you get back here, Ezra?"
00:30:34 - Right.
00:30:34 - "Well, I rode some whales to another galaxy."
00:30:39 And Ahsoka--
00:30:40 - Stole this guy's uniform.
00:30:40 - Ahsoka and Sabine showed up,
00:30:42 which one rode a, you know, whale here,
00:30:44 and the other one rode a big, giant ring
00:30:46 that they made to carry a Star Destroyer.
00:30:48 - Yeah.
00:30:49 - Oh, yeah, and there was some fallen Jedi's that showed up,
00:30:53 and some real Jedi's, and I'm a Jedi.
00:30:55 You know, like, just that guy,
00:30:57 all the things he complained about,
00:30:58 and just like, "Ah, I don't know."
00:31:01 We'll see what they do.
00:31:02 Hopefully it gives, I mean,
00:31:04 it opens the idea of like, if they do the movie,
00:31:06 they do it like, heir to the empire kind of idea,
00:31:07 and you have Thrawn.
00:31:08 Now you have like, here's this little rebel force.
00:31:11 I don't know, like, whatever Mon Mothma
00:31:14 will do with it or anything, but.
00:31:15 - Yeah, sure.
00:31:16 - Maybe even like, you get the mentions of like,
00:31:19 Organa, like--
00:31:19 - Leia Organa.
00:31:20 - You know.
00:31:21 - Yeah.
00:31:23 The leader of the defense force or whatever.
00:31:25 - Yeah.
00:31:26 - Some great moments in this episode.
00:31:28 I loved Huang and Ezra completing a lightsaber for him.
00:31:32 I love how quickly he was able to do it.
00:31:33 Ezra's probably been thinking about it for a long time.
00:31:35 - Yeah.
00:31:36 - And then, yeah, the emitter of Kanan.
00:31:40 Like, it's not Kanan's emitter,
00:31:42 'cause technically the last time we saw Kanan's lightsaber,
00:31:45 was it in Thrawn's possession?
00:31:47 Right, like it blows up and he like--
00:31:49 - They recovered it from the wreckage, right?
00:31:51 - Yeah.
00:31:52 Maybe that's something Jason will wield one day, I don't know.
00:31:54 - He dropped it, I believe, fighting Rook, right?
00:31:59 Whenever he was saving Hera.
00:32:01 - Yeah.
00:32:02 - He was blown up at the big ball.
00:32:05 - The fuel depot, yeah.
00:32:06 - And then, I don't know if they ever got it back
00:32:09 from there, did they?
00:32:10 From when it fell on?
00:32:11 - I thought, I have a memory of Thrawn having it.
00:32:14 - That Thrawn had it?
00:32:14 - I might be wrong about that, though.
00:32:16 - Okay.
00:32:17 - Either way, like it's still out there.
00:32:18 Like, it's not that that was the emitter of,
00:32:20 you know, he said like there was two of these things, so.
00:32:22 - I had two.
00:32:23 - Yeah, I had two.
00:32:24 It kind of reminded me of-- - It took one, and then--
00:32:26 - There's a little like Harry Potter in there.
00:32:27 It's like, oh, there's two phoenix tail feathers
00:32:29 from this one phoenix,
00:32:30 and you just so happen to have the other.
00:32:32 - Yeah.
00:32:33 - That's, like, I remind him of,
00:32:34 but it's a very sweet thing.
00:32:35 I also--
00:32:36 - If you go that way, if Thrawn still has it,
00:32:38 like maybe you can do it where like Thrawn tries
00:32:40 to fight against him with Kanan's saber,
00:32:42 while Ezra has his new saber.
00:32:44 The thing I was kind of hoping for that would be nice
00:32:46 is that, like, we have Sabine,
00:32:48 and she's training from Ahsoka,
00:32:51 but like Ezra doesn't have an apprentice.
00:32:53 Maybe he's a Jairus.
00:32:55 - Yeah.
00:32:56 - You know, and then maybe he gets a saber
00:32:57 that looks like his dad's.
00:32:58 - Yeah, sure.
00:32:59 - And then Ezra makes a new one or something.
00:33:00 - I mean, Ezra still has no idea that Jason exists,
00:33:04 even with that scene there.
00:33:06 I also think it's so Ezra to keep,
00:33:08 like he's gonna make the,
00:33:09 he's gonna, you know, get the drama out of this.
00:33:11 He kept that trooper outfit on the whole drive there.
00:33:14 - Yeah.
00:33:15 - Just to make a, you know.
00:33:16 - I love that he got a chance to be like,
00:33:20 all right, copy.
00:33:21 - Yeah, that was so--
00:33:22 - It was like, it just reminded me of Rebels.
00:33:23 - Thanks for the heads up.
00:33:24 - Yeah.
00:33:25 - In terms of, like, all of the casting they had to do
00:33:28 to bring those characters to life, you know,
00:33:30 Lars Mikkelsen is easily the one that, I mean, is him.
00:33:35 But in terms of new casting, yeah,
00:33:38 the guy that plays Ezra, I get a 10 out of 10.
00:33:41 - Sure, yeah.
00:33:42 Like you can say, well, Lars, like, we voiced him,
00:33:44 so we kind of had that laid out, right?
00:33:45 - Yeah, yeah.
00:33:46 - I think--
00:33:47 - It's an unfair comparison in that case.
00:33:48 - I think that he looks like Ezra.
00:33:50 I think he talks and sounds a lot like Ezra.
00:33:52 Like, the cadence and stuff is great.
00:33:54 - I personally, I mean, my only real gripe with the show,
00:33:57 and it's not that big of a deal,
00:33:59 is I do feel like the contact lenses
00:34:01 that they've used for Ezra, for Ahsoka,
00:34:04 and for Hera are a little too intense,
00:34:06 and it's hard for actors to have their eyes
00:34:09 shine through those, you know?
00:34:12 Ezra's, I feel like, is, I mean, that is the color.
00:34:14 His eyes were in the show,
00:34:15 but they're just, they're a little too vibrant.
00:34:17 But they look great with that blue lightsaber.
00:34:20 - Yeah, they do.
00:34:21 - And his eyes pop.
00:34:21 (laughing)
00:34:22 - Yeah, they do.
00:34:24 - But yeah, man, he's perfect.
00:34:25 I can't, I don't know the actor's name,
00:34:27 but it's the best casting so far.
00:34:31 Do you think the little thing that, like, Ezra earlier,
00:34:36 maybe not, but he's like,
00:34:37 ah, this blade emitter's too narrow.
00:34:39 Was that like a little, like, kinda nod
00:34:42 to like, Rebels having their little thin lightsabers?
00:34:45 - I don't know.
00:34:46 - You know? - Maybe.
00:34:47 - I don't know if that's a thing or not,
00:34:48 but it's what I thought of.
00:34:49 - Like, if he complained about it, it's gotta be bad.
00:34:51 (laughing)
00:34:54 - We got a tiny bit more information
00:34:55 about what happened to Sabine's family,
00:34:58 and it does seem like, I'm gonna guess,
00:35:01 the Night of a Thousand Tears is what they're talking about,
00:35:04 and that would've, clarifying the timeline a little bit,
00:35:07 that would've happened at the end of the war.
00:35:09 So Gideon probably did that at the end of the war,
00:35:11 which is real shitty.
00:35:13 But that would probably be connected to Operation Cinder,
00:35:18 where they just were glassing planets.
00:35:22 - Yeah.
00:35:24 - Weren't they bombing Mandalore?
00:35:27 - Mm-hmm.
00:35:28 - Operation Cinder wasn't a bombing run, though, right?
00:35:30 - Well, I mean, it wasn't all just the satellites, too.
00:35:33 Like, they had those for certain worlds,
00:35:35 like in Battlefront II and stuff,
00:35:37 but they just would bombard planets, too.
00:35:39 - Number one.
00:35:39 - Right.
00:35:40 - Yeah, it was just a punishment, pretty much.
00:35:44 But I only bring it up, I mean,
00:35:46 'cause it was the thing that happened
00:35:48 when the Empire realizes they've lost the war.
00:35:50 So when they say this happened at the end of the war,
00:35:53 that's at least a time frame.
00:35:55 So if it's not connected, it's pretty close.
00:35:58 - Sure, no.
00:36:01 I'm trying to remember what happened
00:36:01 and what we knew of Cinder.
00:36:03 'Cause Battlefront II visited it,
00:36:06 and that's the same thing that--
00:36:08 - In the Aftermath books, as well.
00:36:10 - Yeah, but isn't that the same thing that,
00:36:13 shoot, what's his name, Thobur?
00:36:15 - Mm-hmm.
00:36:16 - He was talking about it, right, to the one dude?
00:36:17 - Yeah, yes.
00:36:18 - But, dang, what's his name?
00:36:19 - Yeah, his name is, it starts with an M.
00:36:20 - Maze.
00:36:21 - Maze.
00:36:22 That sounds right.
00:36:23 - Migs.
00:36:24 - Migs Mayfield.
00:36:25 Mayfield, that's what it is.
00:36:26 - That's what it is, yeah.
00:36:27 - But he was talking about it, too.
00:36:28 And I don't figure he was talking about Naboo.
00:36:31 So yeah.
00:36:33 But I don't know, even the one that he talked about,
00:36:34 I guess I always pictured the electric things,
00:36:36 but it could've just been a lot of other stuff, I suppose.
00:36:39 I thought it was a certain weapon style
00:36:41 that he made to be around these planets to do stuff.
00:36:44 - They primarily use those,
00:36:46 but there was other elements of Cinder
00:36:47 where they're just destroying things.
00:36:48 - Was there?
00:36:49 Is that from Aftermath, or?
00:36:50 - I think so.
00:36:51 - Okay.
00:36:52 I haven't read that book.
00:36:53 - Mm-hmm.
00:36:54 A lot of Aftermath stuff was covered in,
00:36:56 or was stuff I saw when I was studying Shmoedown.
00:37:01 It had a lot to do with sequentially stuff.
00:37:04 - Hmm.
00:37:07 (sighs)
00:37:08 - Could've also just melted the hell out of it
00:37:10 with that mining machine from Rebels.
00:37:12 - Mm-hmm.
00:37:13 Yeah, sure.
00:37:14 - With Anakin's ghost at the end,
00:37:18 like is that meant to be like,
00:37:21 he's watching over Ahsoka?
00:37:23 Is that meant to be he's gonna be here
00:37:24 kind of like Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan eventually were?
00:37:29 Right, when he finally got reconnected to the Force
00:37:31 and rebalanced and whatnot?
00:37:32 Like, Qui-Gon was there.
00:37:33 Is it gonna be more of like,
00:37:34 training things that he can do?
00:37:37 Communication or anything?
00:37:38 I don't know.
00:37:40 I'm wondering what his reason for kind of being there is.
00:37:44 - I don't know.
00:37:45 Maybe it's more connected to like the--
00:37:46 - I was always there, but you just weren't ready to see.
00:37:49 (laughs)
00:37:50 - He was more connected to like the Mori
00:37:51 and the Mordiskods and stuff.
00:37:54 - Maybe.
00:37:55 - 'Cause there was a role that they were supposed to take.
00:38:00 They never did, really.
00:38:01 - Hmm.
00:38:03 - I just kind of took it as like,
00:38:05 he is, you know, he's there, he's watching.
00:38:08 - I mean, it could be closer to like Return of the Jedi.
00:38:10 Like at the very end there, the three show up
00:38:13 and they're not, I don't know that they necessarily
00:38:15 do anything, but then Yoda shows up again later on,
00:38:17 talks to him, like, "Bitch, turn her to Jedi, we're not."
00:38:19 You know, like that kind of stuff.
00:38:20 And it's like, well, he's been around then.
00:38:22 He must've been able to talk to him.
00:38:23 So I just wonder if that opens the door
00:38:25 of having more Ahsoka talking with Anakin
00:38:29 or maybe anything like that.
00:38:30 - Sure.
00:38:31 - I never want that to feel like, you know,
00:38:36 like an open channel you can just click on
00:38:38 anytime you want to, you know?
00:38:39 I always wanted to, it needs to feel mysterious.
00:38:41 It needs to feel mystical.
00:38:42 It needs to be, you know, it's not a phone call.
00:38:44 It's very rare that that type of thing happens.
00:38:47 - Would that not be like here?
00:38:50 - Yeah.
00:38:51 - I'm saying like, if we're gonna continue that,
00:38:53 like I don't want it to be just happen all the time.
00:38:55 - Overplayed.
00:38:56 - Obi-Wan did all the damn time.
00:38:58 - He did.
00:38:58 - Yeah, sure, yeah.
00:38:59 But I mean, that's one of the parts of the OT
00:39:01 I don't love as much.
00:39:02 - Oh, really?
00:39:03 - He has a good little Dagobah system.
00:39:04 - Well, 'cause I mean, Lucas also had the idea
00:39:06 that like, you know, Obi-Wan was like,
00:39:08 every time you saw him, he got more and more like physical.
00:39:11 And then there was the idea that like,
00:39:12 he was gonna return from life,
00:39:15 which is not my favorite.
00:39:18 - Well, he didn't do that.
00:39:19 - I know he didn't, but I'm just saying like,
00:39:21 that's one of the parts of the OT
00:39:23 that I don't love as much is that Obi-Wan showed up a lot
00:39:26 and just to give like, all right, well, Luke's,
00:39:27 and you know, he just needed,
00:39:28 he's in a good talking to right now, you know?
00:39:31 And whenever it's more ill-defined,
00:39:34 I think there's always,
00:39:39 it makes the stories feel more rich to me.
00:39:42 - Hmm.
00:39:43 - But we'll see.
00:39:44 - I mean, I would say the strongest times he's back
00:39:45 is when he's there on Dagobah,
00:39:47 which is also like a hub of force energy.
00:39:49 - Sure.
00:39:50 - So like, part of my thoughts with Anakin here,
00:39:51 especially how colorful he was here,
00:39:53 is that it's an area of strong force activity.
00:39:57 You can even look at the same thing whenever Kanan's gone
00:40:01 and Hera feels Kanan being there.
00:40:04 They're also around the point of entrance
00:40:06 for the World Between Worlds,
00:40:07 which could be a great hub of force energy as well.
00:40:09 So like, that veil could be thinner for these ghosts
00:40:14 that maybe aren't typically around,
00:40:17 aren't able to manifest,
00:40:19 like Obi-Wan could or Qui-Gon could or any of that.
00:40:22 - It's also crazy that like,
00:40:24 I don't know like the force is all connected
00:40:26 and everything like that,
00:40:27 but Anakin was here on this planet.
00:40:30 - Well, maybe he's there 'cause the Sith is there.
00:40:35 Yeah, he's something that she brings with him.
00:40:39 - Yeah, she does carry a piece of him with her.
00:40:41 - Brings with her, sorry.
00:40:43 Yep, I don't know.
00:40:45 I mean, I trust Dave Filoni though
00:40:47 when it comes to that stuff, so we'll see.
00:40:49 Yeah.
00:40:52 - Yeah, there's a weird thing where like he's,
00:40:55 there's no part of him that is physical,
00:40:57 but the force is very physical.
00:40:59 You know, see, it feels like there has to be
00:41:03 some kind of object permanence where like,
00:41:06 there has to be some transit between the two galaxies.
00:41:09 - It's also like confirming a bit more
00:41:12 for those that do need it that
00:41:14 what we saw of Anakin this season was Anakin
00:41:17 as opposed to something that Ahsoka was thinking of
00:41:19 or just a world between worlds vision or something
00:41:24 and it's not really Anakin,
00:41:25 it's just what Ahsoka has in her mind.
00:41:27 But here, like that's separate from her is that spirit.
00:41:31 - Now, was Anakin choosing only to
00:41:34 let himself be seen by Ahsoka
00:41:38 or was she just weak
00:41:43 and Sabine couldn't see him yet?
00:41:46 - Did Ahsoka see him there?
00:41:47 I mean--
00:41:48 - I think Ahsoka did.
00:41:49 - No, I don't think so. - I didn't think she did.
00:41:51 - Did she not? - I didn't think so.
00:41:52 - I mean, yeah, she had turned away
00:41:54 by the time that we see Anakin.
00:41:56 I mean, it's possible that she saw something
00:41:58 or felt something, but they didn't like lock eyes
00:42:02 or anything.
00:42:02 - I thought that she was just like watching him,
00:42:06 looking at him and then Sabine came over
00:42:10 and she was like, "Oh, hey Sabine."
00:42:12 - I mean, it's possible,
00:42:13 I just didn't see anything that indicated that.
00:42:16 But it could be--
00:42:16 - It looks like she's looking at him,
00:42:19 is what I thought, but.
00:42:21 - For me, it was kind of almost like at the end of Obi-Wan
00:42:25 where like he's there, but they can't see him,
00:42:29 they're not ready to see yet.
00:42:30 - Sure.
00:42:31 - No, no, no.
00:42:32 I would, my thought was that they didn't, so maybe.
00:42:35 - I think if you wanted to communicate that,
00:42:36 those are the sharp choices that you would pick.
00:42:39 But if you're wanting to be maybe more abstract,
00:42:41 then you could say, yeah, it might be.
00:42:43 Or it might be that she just feels him,
00:42:45 she didn't actually see anything,
00:42:47 but there might not be that big of a difference
00:42:48 between the two.
00:42:49 - Sure, it's the idea in like Rebels,
00:42:52 whenever Hera puts her hand on Kanan's ghost hand, right?
00:42:56 Like that kind of moment happens.
00:42:57 And then he fades away and her hand's just there.
00:43:00 I feel like it's a thing if she feels him there,
00:43:03 but it's not like she actually touches his hand
00:43:05 or sees him at all.
00:43:05 She just like senses he's there.
00:43:07 You could have the same idea where it's like,
00:43:10 she's, like Sabine felt like something was there
00:43:14 and then leaves.
00:43:15 Ahsoka's there and like senses something,
00:43:18 but can't actually see it.
00:43:19 And then we, as an audience, see like what it is
00:43:22 that they were feeling or not able to see or whatever.
00:43:24 So. - Sure.
00:43:25 - Kind of bummed about what happened with Morgan.
00:43:28 I mean, you know, she's a bad guy,
00:43:29 so you don't wanna go too crazy.
00:43:31 But like I, for the first time,
00:43:33 I feel like I really was like, oh, hell yeah.
00:43:35 - Her fight was really good.
00:43:36 - Her fight was amazing.
00:43:37 It's, I think it's the best lightsaber fight in the show,
00:43:40 barring Anakin versus Ahsoka.
00:43:42 But even then, there were certain moments in this one
00:43:44 where I was like, I love the movement here.
00:43:48 - Yeah.
00:43:50 It felt like two equally matched opponents
00:43:52 rather than a master and a student.
00:43:56 - Yeah, I mean, the Ahsoka and Anakin thing,
00:43:58 there's a lot of, there's just a lot going on.
00:44:00 - There's a lot of expression inside of the fights.
00:44:01 - There's a lot to focus on.
00:44:03 There's a lot of emotion as a viewer,
00:44:04 there's a, as the characters.
00:44:06 Whereas there, that would just felt like a,
00:44:08 like a fight to the death.
00:44:09 - Yeah. - And I really enjoyed it.
00:44:10 - Sure.
00:44:11 - I just, I'm slightly sad that she's dead.
00:44:13 But her, the killing move was awesome using both blades.
00:44:15 - Is she?
00:44:16 - I mean, she could be alive.
00:44:19 I mean, if she has the blessing, you know,
00:44:22 like some of those other troopers took way more damage
00:44:25 and got back up.
00:44:26 So I don't know.
00:44:26 - How many times did Mother Talzin die?
00:44:28 - I don't even know if she's dead.
00:44:31 - She kind of disappeared.
00:44:32 - But the great mothers were like, she's dead.
00:44:36 - Yeah, they were.
00:44:37 - So.
00:44:37 - Yeah, I think they would know.
00:44:38 They're probably a pretty reliable narrator
00:44:40 in that respect.
00:44:42 But I did like the two burns
00:44:44 and you see like the more conventional orange saber burn
00:44:46 and then the green burn was cool too.
00:44:48 - Yeah, it was like it was still on fire.
00:44:49 - Yeah.
00:44:50 - I wonder if Ahsoka will fix slash build a new saber
00:44:53 or if she can like use that blade.
00:44:55 - Hmm?
00:44:56 - Or, 'cause like she had one blade cut, right?
00:44:58 - Yeah.
00:44:59 - So like. - Her short blade.
00:45:00 - Has she replaced that?
00:45:00 Does she go to one?
00:45:01 Does she use the real blade in her saber?
00:45:04 Like I just wonder what her route will be with that.
00:45:05 You know?
00:45:06 - Yeah.
00:45:07 - Also like the styles didn't feel quite as different
00:45:11 as like Balin has that slower, stronger,
00:45:15 like almost like a knight feel to him fighting Ahsoka
00:45:18 who has a little bit more of like a,
00:45:20 I don't know, like an Eastern style,
00:45:22 like a, I don't know if samurai is the right word,
00:45:24 but closer to something along like that I feel like.
00:45:26 Where it's like katana versus like broadsword,
00:45:28 you know what I mean?
00:45:29 - Yeah, sure.
00:45:30 - And this one, he primarily keeps both hands
00:45:32 on that saber.
00:45:34 - Yeah, whereas here like it felt like,
00:45:37 like Eastern fighting against Eastern fighting.
00:45:39 - Ezra kind of felt a little more like Chinese flowing
00:45:42 to him a little bit.
00:45:43 Sabine obviously like she has fundamentals,
00:45:47 but like, 'cause you know, I've seen some criticism
00:45:50 of primarily Sabine's fighting style
00:45:52 and I wanna like shake the person and be like,
00:45:55 she's a student, you dummy.
00:45:57 - She's an old student, right?
00:45:58 - She doesn't look as good as I think she should.
00:46:01 - She's not as flexible as I think she should.
00:46:02 - She hasn't been doing this as long,
00:46:03 she hasn't been trained as much,
00:46:05 and she started much older than most Jedis
00:46:08 that we've seen, right?
00:46:09 - Too old, too old to be in the training.
00:46:11 - I mean look at, like I don't think Luke Skywalker
00:46:13 has the best fighting style, you know?
00:46:15 - No.
00:46:16 - He also started that at like 18.
00:46:18 - His footwork and stance are sloppy.
00:46:21 - Yeah, he prioritizes holding the bottom of his saber
00:46:24 rather than up higher, you know?
00:46:26 Like I don't think he's a great fighter,
00:46:27 but he's also new to the whole thing, you know?
00:46:30 And then half the time had to train himself.
00:46:32 - Yep.
00:46:33 - So I feel like Sabine, for what she is,
00:46:37 which is a Mandalorian and a great warrior,
00:46:39 holding a lightsaber, which is a tricky weapon,
00:46:41 I think that she does pretty well.
00:46:43 I love when she did like the blaster saber
00:46:46 kind of style that she was working.
00:46:47 - It was almost like she was using
00:46:49 like a sword and board style.
00:46:51 'Cause like she would use this arm,
00:46:53 I feel like primarily as like a shield.
00:46:54 - A block and stuff, yeah.
00:46:56 - And then she had the sword in her strong arm.
00:46:58 - Yeah.
00:46:59 - Yeah.
00:46:59 - No, I think it would be awesome to give her
00:47:00 that like Mandalorian holo shield.
00:47:02 - That would be so cool.
00:47:03 Like--
00:47:04 - Did she have it all during Rebels?
00:47:06 Was that just Bo?
00:47:06 - It was Bo, yeah.
00:47:08 - It was Bo.
00:47:09 Yeah, Sabine never really used that type of thing.
00:47:11 - I wish she had a jetpack.
00:47:13 - I would've made that a lot easier.
00:47:15 - Yeah, right?
00:47:16 That jump?
00:47:17 - Yeah.
00:47:18 - I'm glad they kind of brought back
00:47:18 the slingshot jump a bit.
00:47:19 - Yeah, no, that was good.
00:47:21 - That's a cool Rebels callback, man.
00:47:23 I wouldn't have waited quite that long.
00:47:25 - And we saw growth.
00:47:26 - Until he's going down.
00:47:27 - Yeah, right?
00:47:28 We saw growth too of Sabine's force,
00:47:30 resistivity, force powers and stuff, you know?
00:47:33 Before it was like she couldn't do anything,
00:47:34 she got stabbed in her first fight, right?
00:47:37 Like and then we go on and it's like
00:47:38 now she summoned the saber, she force pushed Ezra.
00:47:41 - Yeah, no, we joked about it,
00:47:43 but I just kept anticipating like Ezra like,
00:47:45 get in the door.
00:47:47 But no, that's the first like overt,
00:47:53 for sure she used the force there.
00:47:55 - I think so.
00:47:56 - In terms of like telekinesis.
00:47:57 - Yeah, I think of anything really.
00:47:58 - A more powerful form of being able
00:48:00 to connect with the force.
00:48:01 - Yeah, I mean like you could say like
00:48:03 maybe she's had bits of like Anakin pod racing, right?
00:48:05 Where it's like not quite as noticeable,
00:48:07 but she has instincts of like flying or whatever.
00:48:10 But yeah, that's the first one I think
00:48:11 that she's really moved something
00:48:14 or done something like that.
00:48:15 'Cause she was trying to cup at one point, right?
00:48:16 - She did something earlier that was like
00:48:21 she couldn't replicate it, right?
00:48:23 She did something in a split second to save someone,
00:48:27 but then like she couldn't do anything else afterwards.
00:48:30 - Not that I can think of.
00:48:31 I mean, most of the stuff that we've seen,
00:48:33 it's like she could have, but she also could not have.
00:48:36 Like when they're trying to get to the door
00:48:37 and they're opening the door,
00:48:39 Ezra, Ahsoka and Sabine are all having their hands up.
00:48:42 And you could say like--
00:48:43 - It's hard to measure who's doing what, right?
00:48:43 - Yeah, it's like when you're, you know,
00:48:45 moving furniture and like the guy in the middle
00:48:47 sometimes like, I don't know if he's helping.
00:48:49 (laughing)
00:48:49 - Sure, right?
00:48:50 - He's just making sure it doesn't bump into the wall.
00:48:52 - Yeah, exactly.
00:48:52 He's like, "Hey, take your hand off real quick."
00:48:54 Yeah, nothing, nothing changed.
00:48:55 (laughing)
00:48:57 - But that last one was the...
00:49:00 So now that we've watched the whole show,
00:49:02 or at least this first season,
00:49:04 how do you guys feel about having Sabine
00:49:06 be a force user in this?
00:49:08 - I mean, for me, I don't necessarily care.
00:49:15 Like I don't think it's like a,
00:49:16 I don't think it breaks anything for me or anything.
00:49:18 I'm curious to see where they go with it.
00:49:20 Which I think is the main part of it.
00:49:21 Like maybe she was force sensitive
00:49:24 and it was never found, right?
00:49:25 'Cause she was on "Mandalore."
00:49:27 There's not a lot of Jedi on "Mandalore."
00:49:30 - Sure.
00:49:31 - That kind of thing too.
00:49:32 So.
00:49:33 - It's very rare, yeah.
00:49:34 - But I don't know.
00:49:35 I'm not against it,
00:49:36 but it just depends what they do with it.
00:49:38 - I'm...
00:49:42 I wanted to wait until I watched the whole season
00:49:44 before I really like thought about how I felt about it.
00:49:47 Like I'm not convinced that
00:49:50 it's something that I wanted or still want.
00:49:53 I never felt like Sabine in "Rebels" was like,
00:49:56 you know what she's really missing?
00:49:57 The full, you know, like she was such a full character.
00:49:59 You know, she had so much going for her already.
00:50:01 Obviously the utilization here is very important.
00:50:05 The way that it can be a reason for us to think
00:50:10 about all of Ahsoka's choices so far, right?
00:50:13 Like why she chooses not to teach Grogu, right?
00:50:19 Like she didn't trust Sabine.
00:50:21 Like they said, like, I thought that if I trained her,
00:50:23 she was going to go dark.
00:50:25 And she might've, you know, with Anakin's shadow over her,
00:50:29 like that really affected her a lot.
00:50:31 So I liked the utilization of the story
00:50:33 of having Sabine be someone that actually know
00:50:36 you can trust your student.
00:50:37 You can trust this person
00:50:39 and not be afraid to pass on what you've learned.
00:50:42 'Cause Anakin didn't corrupt you, you know?
00:50:45 He is trying to tell you that you are you.
00:50:48 You're not me, you're you.
00:50:49 And Sabine's not me either.
00:50:51 Sabine can be a Jedi, like can do it.
00:50:53 I think all those stories are awesome.
00:50:55 I just, there was a part of me that still like
00:50:57 is a little reluctant to think
00:51:01 that that was the way to go with Sabine.
00:51:03 But I'm super certainly open to it.
00:51:06 And I've changed my mind on Sabine before, you know?
00:51:09 - Have you? - Mm-hmm.
00:51:11 No.
00:51:11 No, the first girl I personally kind of felt like,
00:51:17 - Like in Rebels, you mean? - In Rebels.
00:51:18 Like she had a lot, you know?
00:51:20 Like she was a Mandalorian and a scientist
00:51:24 and created these crazy weapons
00:51:28 and she's getting training from Kanan in a little bit.
00:51:30 And now she's also getting,
00:51:31 she has the force, like she's not,
00:51:33 you don't want characters to have a,
00:51:37 oh, that's the right way to say it.
00:51:38 Like when you're building a character,
00:51:40 you don't, you wanna like have strengths and weaknesses.
00:51:43 You don't wanna have like a little bit and everything.
00:51:45 Right?
00:51:46 - Sure.
00:51:47 - So, but I've kind of turned around from that
00:51:49 from when I first watched Rebels.
00:51:51 I might turn around depending on the stories
00:51:53 that we get in the future with this.
00:51:55 - Okay.
00:51:57 I just never thought of her as scientist.
00:52:01 - Well, yeah, she creates the weapon, right?
00:52:04 - Sure.
00:52:05 I guess I didn't think about that
00:52:06 as being like a scientist or anything.
00:52:07 - She specifically calls herself a scientist.
00:52:08 - I thought of her more as like just, I don't know.
00:52:11 Mandalorians, things they're known for is typically weapons.
00:52:14 So like progressing weapon tech.
00:52:16 I didn't think the same thing as being like,
00:52:18 I guess I was thinking more like,
00:52:21 I don't know, different science or something like that.
00:52:23 But she definitely knows like explosions and weaponry.
00:52:27 - Yeah, I mean, it was focused primarily
00:52:31 on weapons and stuff,
00:52:32 but like you'd still have scientists create weapons.
00:52:36 Thanks.
00:52:37 I mean, Oppenheimer's a scientist, you know?
00:52:40 I think that's what they were going for
00:52:41 with her creating something
00:52:43 that specifically targets Mandalorians.
00:52:46 - Sure.
00:52:48 - But anyway, we'll see what happens in the future.
00:52:50 - Okay, yeah.
00:52:54 - Maybe those are things that we can--
00:52:54 - I don't know if I have anything else
00:52:55 really to add to it or anything.
00:52:57 I don't hate it or anything,
00:53:00 but I get what you mean.
00:53:01 Like there could be other routes,
00:53:04 but I'm not against what they're doing.
00:53:06 - Yeah.
00:53:07 - Yeah.
00:53:08 I don't think she's ever gonna be like
00:53:10 Anakin level power.
00:53:13 - Sure.
00:53:13 It's one thing they've done with this too.
00:53:14 It's not like she just--
00:53:15 - Yeah.
00:53:16 - It's not like, all right, you're my apprentice again,
00:53:18 and now you just start using force powers.
00:53:19 - Sure, yeah.
00:53:20 - It's been a struggle through the whole series
00:53:22 up to this point here, right?
00:53:23 - Yeah.
00:53:24 - And I mean, it kind of goes along
00:53:25 like the same idea as Finn in the sequel trilogy, right?
00:53:29 Like Finn is the one to wield the lightsaber
00:53:32 despite not having that ability.
00:53:34 But then, you know, in the last movie,
00:53:36 there are really good indicators
00:53:39 that he does have that ability.
00:53:41 It's something that's just manifesting later.
00:53:43 And that very well could happen with Sabine.
00:53:45 It's just that with Finn,
00:53:46 I felt like Finn needed something else, you know?
00:53:48 'Cause I felt like a lot of his character in that
00:53:50 was about how he was utilized for the Rey character.
00:53:55 And then whenever, if you're gonna bring that character back
00:53:57 let's say in Rey's Jedi Order movie,
00:54:00 I think that he should be able to be filled out
00:54:01 as more of a Jedi.
00:54:03 And there's a lot of holes that I think that can fill.
00:54:06 Whereas Sabine, I felt like was more of a whole character.
00:54:09 But I'm super open to it still.
00:54:13 I mean, and it's the promise of a Mandalorian Jedi.
00:54:16 I mean, to be fair, I felt like Grogu
00:54:18 was kind of already on that path.
00:54:21 But that might be something that doesn't really
00:54:25 come to fruition for a hundred years or so, I don't know.
00:54:29 - Sure, like how long is he gonna stay a kid?
00:54:30 - Yeah.
00:54:31 - So I get that too.
00:54:32 - And maybe it's easier to extract force abilities
00:54:37 from someone when there are fewer Jedi in the galaxy.
00:54:42 Maybe the force is like a water balloon.
00:54:45 Like you can put a little pinprick in the top
00:54:47 and if the balloon is mostly empty,
00:54:49 the water won't get up there
00:54:50 and it won't pour out of that hole.
00:54:52 But if the balloon's more full, then it squirts out.
00:54:54 - That was certainly the case
00:54:58 when they were coming out with Force Unleashed.
00:55:01 It's like, how can they do this crazy force stuff?
00:55:03 It's like, there's a lot of people using it right now.
00:55:06 - Like there's a finite amount of force energy
00:55:11 that is produced.
00:55:13 - Maybe, but also currently in High Republic,
00:55:16 they had that one in the first book
00:55:20 where there's a huge fuel tank heading towards a star
00:55:24 and it's gonna destroy the system if it hits.
00:55:27 It's gonna do a lot of damage.
00:55:27 - Yeah, it's going at hyperspace speeds.
00:55:29 - Yeah, it's gonna do terrible stuff.
00:55:31 And they get out a message and the feeling is supposed
00:55:36 to be like all the Jedi in the galaxy focus on this thing.
00:55:41 - Slow it down. - Push it.
00:55:42 - They push it. - Just enough
00:55:44 so it will miss the star.
00:55:46 There's no one around it.
00:55:47 It's just hurling through space.
00:55:49 But they all just focus on this one thing
00:55:50 just in the galaxy.
00:55:52 It's gonna be that small on this huge vast galaxy thing
00:55:55 and just focusing on that one thing.
00:55:56 - It was a magical moment.
00:55:57 - It's a really cool moment, yeah.
00:55:59 But that's a crazy strong force power kind of moment.
00:56:03 Not one person pulling out the Star Destroyer,
00:56:05 but forever more. - Like a spirit bomb.
00:56:07 - They're not even really seeing that.
00:56:08 People are on Coruscant, people are on other places
00:56:11 like all focusing on this.
00:56:12 - And don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore OG Legends fan,
00:56:17 but I prefer that way more than I ever preferred,
00:56:20 like well Luke can do that by himself.
00:56:22 - Luke moves the entire Starfleet out of the way
00:56:24 so they can get out and stuff.
00:56:25 - Yeah, they just made him Superman
00:56:27 and Superman's not the most interesting character.
00:56:29 - Sure, I know.
00:56:30 - I like my characters.
00:56:31 I mean, Star Wars characters are Arthurian legend characters
00:56:36 and the thing about Arthurian legend characters
00:56:37 is they get a flaw and they never get over it.
00:56:40 You know, it affects their entire life.
00:56:42 Like despite how they feel about it, it's different.
00:56:45 Yeah, but that flaw will haunt them forever.
00:56:47 - That's why I want you guys to play Pendragon.
00:56:49 - Yeah.
00:56:50 - It's such a good system.
00:56:51 - I don't want any flaws. - That'll be fun.
00:56:53 - It's so good.
00:56:54 - No flaws, Calvin.
00:56:55 - Flaws are so good, Aaron.
00:56:57 - Why no flaws?
00:56:57 - They make amazing role-playing moments happen.
00:57:00 (laughing)
00:57:03 - But yeah, this was a hell of a season.
00:57:06 Eight episodes, I mean, even being longer
00:57:08 than some of the others, I mean, I guess,
00:57:11 Andrew, what, 12 episodes?
00:57:14 But they were a little shorter each, I think.
00:57:16 But even still, I guess.
00:57:17 - Was Kenobi only six?
00:57:19 - Yeah, I believe so.
00:57:21 But this one had a lot to do.
00:57:23 It had a lot to explain to the more casual Star Wars fan.
00:57:27 And I think relatively it succeeded in that regard.
00:57:30 There's definitely gonna be some people being like,
00:57:31 "What the fuck are those statues?
00:57:33 "What's that?
00:57:34 "What's Balin do?
00:57:36 "Why's that guy pointing?"
00:57:37 - Sure, 'cause especially if you haven't seen
00:57:39 any of this stuff, that's just like,
00:57:40 what is this kind of stuff?
00:57:41 And we didn't get a lot with Balin, you know?
00:57:43 Like, for the story of what he was doing here.
00:57:45 - Yeah, I know, I said in the beginning,
00:57:46 I was like, "Ah, man, this is gonna be
00:57:47 "Ray Stevens' last performance."
00:57:49 And it was like, what was it?
00:57:51 - 10 seconds.
00:57:52 No dialogue.
00:57:53 - But I can't fault, there's no fault
00:57:56 to put at the feet of anybody for that.
00:57:57 - No.
00:57:58 - I mean, they fully expected, like,
00:57:59 "Dude, we're gonna have this fucking great actor
00:58:01 "for years," you know?
00:58:03 And unfortunately, it didn't happen.
00:58:04 But we'll say, if you were a fan of Ray Stevenson
00:58:08 this season, you haven't seen a lot of his stuff,
00:58:10 Rome is something that we're covering right now,
00:58:12 but go back and watch Black Sails.
00:58:14 He's so good. - Black Sails is so damn good.
00:58:16 - Go check out a lot of the work that he's done.
00:58:19 - And that one season of Dexter.
00:58:21 - Hey, hey, man, he was the best part of that season.
00:58:22 - He was the best part of it.
00:58:24 - But Rebels.
00:58:25 - He was fantastic as Gar Saxon, yes.
00:58:27 Yeah.
00:58:30 - Not enough of him.
00:58:32 But I just, you know, the subtlety that he brought
00:58:34 to Balin, I think, is the thing that,
00:58:37 I mean, and his fighting style,
00:58:38 the fighting style that they put for Balin, too,
00:58:39 I think is one of my favorites for a Jedi.
00:58:42 - I've heard a lot of people complain
00:58:43 about how slow he looked.
00:58:44 But the idea of his movements,
00:58:47 like, it's like he has a heavier weapon, almost.
00:58:50 So he moves very specifically and not to waste energy,
00:58:53 whereas, it's the opposite of a lot of the Jedi way,
00:58:55 where it's, like, very quick, and they do the flourishes
00:58:58 and all this.
00:58:59 His is like, "I don't need to do all that stuff.
00:59:00 "I'm gonna, here, here.
00:59:01 "I'm wasting too much energy doing that stuff."
00:59:03 You know, like.
00:59:04 - Can I, I want to dismiss that opinion.
00:59:07 - Outright.
00:59:08 - Immediately outright.
00:59:09 - Like, Vader is the slowest lightsaber wielder ever.
00:59:14 Who complains about him?
00:59:16 I know, it's a flaw I have.
00:59:19 I'm a furry legend, I can't get over my flaws.
00:59:21 - Some people like to have, like, the faster lightsaber.
00:59:23 Like, some people like prequel stuff.
00:59:24 And that's one of the things, too, is like, you know,
00:59:26 the prequel era is the, I feel like,
00:59:28 the higher moment right now.
00:59:30 We're not where the sequel trilogy is gonna be high yet.
00:59:32 And a lot of the prequel stuff is faster-fighting
00:59:35 lightsaber styles, rather than the original trilogy,
00:59:37 which was a lot slower and not set up the same way.
00:59:41 It had more, maybe more emotion to it,
00:59:42 but less of the speed and intenseness and stuff like that.
00:59:45 - It was a lot of strike, hold, strike, hold.
00:59:48 - I think when you take those people that grew up with that,
00:59:50 the nostalgia they have for lightsaber fates
00:59:52 look more like that.
00:59:52 - Sure, I get it.
00:59:53 - More like what we got from Morgan, right?
00:59:55 Like, we were like, "Man, that Morgan fight was great."
00:59:56 But it's a lot of movements and a lot of quick stuff
00:59:59 and not the specific.
01:00:01 - Yeah.
01:00:01 I personally, I mean, it's the way that all lightsaber
01:00:04 fights are being done now, especially in the Disney era.
01:00:06 Like, I just really dislike this idea that,
01:00:11 well, no matter what you like in terms of your
01:00:13 lightsaber fighting, everybody on that screen currently
01:00:16 is gonna fight the same way, with the same intensity
01:00:18 and the same movement.
01:00:19 Like, why can't we just have different styles that clash?
01:00:22 Why can't we have a balance?
01:00:23 Like, honestly, I think Ahsoka has succeeded where
01:00:26 almost every other Disney property with lightsabers
01:00:29 has failed, in that their, like, Ahsoka's style
01:00:32 is so distinct from Balan's, is so distinct from Morgan
01:00:34 that we saw here, is so distinct from Anakin Skywalker.
01:00:37 Like, that is what you need to go for.
01:00:40 Get rid of this whole, like, lightsabers need to be,
01:00:43 it's either the prequel thing, or it's the OT thing,
01:00:46 or it's the sequel thing.
01:00:47 No, like, throw that in the trash.
01:00:49 Make characters have styles and develop styles.
01:00:52 That's what you do.
01:00:53 I don't understand.
01:00:54 I don't know why we do this.
01:00:55 - No, I don't disagree.
01:00:56 I think, like, characters should have styles.
01:00:58 I think that you'll have overlap with, like,
01:01:00 this person learned from this person,
01:01:02 so they're gonna have similarities
01:01:03 in the way they fight and stuff.
01:01:04 But I understand people having an idea
01:01:07 of what they view as being, like, this and that.
01:01:09 But we had the same issue, I think,
01:01:11 with, like, other series where, like,
01:01:12 well, this isn't Star Wars.
01:01:14 Star Wars isn't supposed to be like this.
01:01:15 It's supposed to look like this.
01:01:17 And it's like, well, who says?
01:01:19 Why does Star Wars have to be anything specific?
01:01:20 Star Wars can just be, like, we have these
01:01:22 nomad, turtle crab, rock people, right?
01:01:26 Okay, well, there's those guys somewhere.
01:01:28 And then we have Jabba the Hutt,
01:01:29 and then we have these guys that modified themselves
01:01:32 with cybernetics, you know?
01:01:33 - Sure.
01:01:34 - We have, like, Darth Vader is, like, a cyborg.
01:01:36 You know, like, he's been modified with cybernetics
01:01:38 and stuff, like, it's just,
01:01:39 that's kind of a thing that happens.
01:01:41 So, I think just adding to the universe
01:01:44 and having different feelings of different places
01:01:45 is just a cool thing to be like,
01:01:47 what can we have in Star Wars?
01:01:48 Like, a lot.
01:01:49 Future and past can all kind of meld in this universe.
01:01:52 It's just neat.
01:01:53 - You know, the only thing I feel like
01:01:54 I'm really missing from, like, the prequel era
01:01:56 of lightsaber fighting is the feeling that
01:02:00 you're not fighting in the present,
01:02:03 you're fighting three moves ahead, right?
01:02:05 Like, that's what, that speed really gave that feeling.
01:02:08 And I do miss that, but Sabine shouldn't be doing that yet.
01:02:12 - No.
01:02:13 - Like, Ezra forces his ally, you know,
01:02:15 he's not really focusing on his lightsaber right now,
01:02:17 and he hasn't touched one in 10 years, you know?
01:02:20 Ahsoka is this Ronin Jedi.
01:02:21 Like, I love the individuality that we've seen so far
01:02:24 in the Ahsoka show.
01:02:25 - But Ezra also didn't grow up in the time of, like,
01:02:27 the prequels, when it was like, a height of Jedi.
01:02:29 He wasn't trained as a kid to be tapped into the force
01:02:32 and understanding, right?
01:02:33 He's getting pummeled by a chopper with milk cartons.
01:02:35 - Even Shin, like, Shin's style, like, you know,
01:02:37 she's very, like, shoulders up and, like, you know,
01:02:41 visceral and has, like, an untrained feeling to her,
01:02:45 like a trained untrained feeling to her.
01:02:47 Like, I like that, like, that's really cool.
01:02:50 Continue doing that type of thing.
01:02:51 Like, describe to me the difference between, like,
01:02:55 you know, like, describe to me Rey's style.
01:02:58 Like, you can't really describe it very well
01:03:00 'cause it's kind of just like a big mishmash
01:03:02 of, like, what the directors think lightsabers should be,
01:03:04 you know?
01:03:05 I need to, what we saw of the acolyte at Celebration,
01:03:08 that's what I'm super excited by.
01:03:10 That felt like it had a lot of individuality
01:03:11 in the very few moves that we saw.
01:03:14 So I'm hoping that one nails it, too.
01:03:15 - I really think Rey should have used a polearm.
01:03:18 - Yeah?
01:03:18 - Yeah.
01:03:19 - I think she should have attached her saber hilt
01:03:22 to the end of that staff that she had.
01:03:24 It was one of the things 'cause, like,
01:03:25 she grew up using that.
01:03:26 - Agreed.
01:03:27 - But I feel like her using her lightsaber like that
01:03:28 would have been, it's just different.
01:03:30 And it's like, I'm so used to this,
01:03:31 let's connect the two and make that my weapon.
01:03:33 And one, it's unique to her 'cause, like,
01:03:35 we've seen, like, double A lightsabers,
01:03:36 but you don't typically get polearm weapons
01:03:39 too often in Star Wars.
01:03:40 - Not unless they're pre-enters.
01:03:41 - I think it's happened in comics.
01:03:44 But I don't remember it in any, like, visual,
01:03:46 like, movie or show or anything really yet.
01:03:50 - Yeah.
01:03:51 - Like, they've done, like, the electro stabs
01:03:52 and that kind of stuff, you know?
01:03:52 Like, doing a weapon kind of like that for her
01:03:55 would have made it unique,
01:03:55 and her fighting style would have been unique in her own.
01:03:58 - A polearm or a double blade for Rey
01:03:59 I would have been happy with, yeah.
01:04:01 - What about that?
01:04:02 - I'd just say double blade, not that,
01:04:04 because, you know, Darth Maul kind of has that,
01:04:05 and that's kind of another thing where it's like,
01:04:07 well, now it's kind of like Darth Maul.
01:04:09 But she could have been a good guy.
01:04:10 - I mean, I agree with you,
01:04:11 but we've only seen-- - That scissor saber
01:04:12 wasn't great.
01:04:13 - We've only really seen, other than the Jedi Temple Guards,
01:04:18 like, one style of how a double blade could be used.
01:04:21 Like, we-- - We've seen two.
01:04:23 - I mean, yeah, but like, how,
01:04:26 which ones are you thinking of?
01:04:27 You're thinking of-- - I'm thinking of Maul and Krell.
01:04:29 - And Krell, well, yeah, Krell definitely.
01:04:30 - On Krell. - I mean, that's a,
01:04:31 that's a, it's hard for me to think of styles
01:04:34 when it comes to the Clone Wars,
01:04:34 'cause it's that key frame animation, but--
01:04:37 - Don't forget the Inquisitors.
01:04:39 - You know, Kal from, yeah, Kal from--
01:04:43 - Jedi. - From Jedi Fallen Order,
01:04:45 from what I've seen so far,
01:04:47 had a fantastic, different style than Maul.
01:04:50 Like, you can have Rey have her own style and that weapon.
01:04:53 - Sure.
01:04:53 - There's as many differences you can have
01:04:55 with a single blade or a double blade,
01:04:57 you can have with that, you know?
01:04:58 - Yeah, that's what I was gonna say,
01:04:59 it's like, there's a lot of single blade style
01:05:00 and stuff, too. - Yeah.
01:05:02 I just want, you need to get,
01:05:03 you guys need to get, like, a lightsaber guy.
01:05:06 Like, I wanna say, just, Nick Gillard's there waiting,
01:05:08 but you need a lightsaber guy that you can, like, call when,
01:05:11 like, you know, they call the R2 builders
01:05:14 when they need R2.
01:05:15 Like, they need a lightsaber person.
01:05:16 I'm not saying it needs to be us, absolutely not.
01:05:18 Someone that has way more experience.
01:05:20 They need a guy that they can, like, go to.
01:05:22 - Sure. - And they're like,
01:05:23 "We need a lightsaber fighter, call Jim."
01:05:25 - What are ideas when you--
01:05:26 - Yeah, and Jim could have, like, a lexicon
01:05:28 or a bible of different styles and how characters--
01:05:31 - It would be cool to be like,
01:05:32 "I am the Jedi lightsaber bible guy," right?
01:05:36 I know, here's a list of all the sabers,
01:05:38 who has them, what their styles are like,
01:05:40 what era they're from, you know?
01:05:41 Like, okay, what are we going for, what do we want?
01:05:43 We already have this, this, and this, you know?
01:05:45 - Yeah, and then you could build, like, a flowchart
01:05:47 of, like, well, this person trained this person,
01:05:49 so they would have probably these regional styles
01:05:53 and this learned style from their master.
01:05:56 - Yeah, I just think it would be cool to do--
01:05:57 - And then it would become this style.
01:05:58 - Are they primarily attack or are they primarily defense?
01:06:00 - Yeah. - Yeah, do they keep things
01:06:02 close to the body, do they go far out with their range?
01:06:05 - Yeah. - You know, like,
01:06:06 you can have a lot of really cool ideas.
01:06:07 - This guy trained under Balin,
01:06:09 so he's gonna have kind of a similar style to him,
01:06:11 but they wanna use a double-bladed lightsaber.
01:06:12 - Yeah. - Yeah.
01:06:13 - You know, like, and he was--
01:06:14 - Oh, exactly, what's that gonna be like?
01:06:15 - You know, he was also, at one point,
01:06:16 defeated by this person, so he changed his style
01:06:19 to make up for it, you know?
01:06:20 - Yeah, I didn't-- - That's why, like,
01:06:21 Iron Man is so cool, 'cause each time he loses,
01:06:24 he changes his stuff so that he never loses the same way.
01:06:27 - Yeah. - You can do that
01:06:28 with fighting styles, especially space monks
01:06:31 that can see the future. (laughs)
01:06:32 - Iron Man's like a super Saiyan.
01:06:33 - Yeah. (laughs)
01:06:35 You know, like, I think that he, you know,
01:06:37 every time we see Ezra now, you know,
01:06:38 they didn't really do it necessarily here,
01:06:40 but we see Ezra, maybe you should have more
01:06:42 of that kind of more monk, force monk style in there,
01:06:45 you know, and then--
01:06:48 - I really enjoyed Ezra's monk, saberless fighting style.
01:06:51 - Yeah. - I didn't fully feel
01:06:53 like it was still there when he had his saber.
01:06:55 - Yeah. - I hope they try
01:06:56 to keep that idea, 'cause yeah,
01:06:58 this has had a really nice feel of, like,
01:07:00 this feels like some kind of, like, monk punching style,
01:07:02 this feels like a samurai, this feels like a knight,
01:07:05 like, I liked that a lot, and I, Ezra, it felt so unique,
01:07:09 and something that we didn't get from, like, Rebels.
01:07:10 - Yeah. - To have him, like,
01:07:11 well, he's been here for a long time,
01:07:13 what's he been doing? - Sure.
01:07:13 - He's been punching stuff, he ain't got a lightsaber.
01:07:15 - Mm-hmm. - So, like,
01:07:16 letting him rely on that a lot, I think,
01:07:17 would be really cool.
01:07:18 Imagine, like, turning off the blade a lot
01:07:21 to punch with it and stuff, and then turning it back on,
01:07:24 and, like, I don't know, there's just neat things
01:07:25 you could do with that.
01:07:26 And it's just unique. - Mm-hmm, sure.
01:07:28 - Give 'em knuckles, but they turn to sabers.
01:07:32 (both laughing)
01:07:34 You know, like, it's like the staple gun instead, though.
01:07:36 - Yeah, sure. - It's brass knuckles.
01:07:39 - Or like electroshock knuckles or something.
01:07:40 - Yeah, it's like fucking Captain America's shields.
01:07:44 I don't know. (laughs)
01:07:45 - Or one of those things from Slice.
01:07:47 (both laughing)
01:07:48 - Something like that would be cool, yeah.
01:07:49 - Camera what they're called.
01:07:51 - All right, well, I think we covered pretty much everything
01:07:53 and then some in this discussion.
01:07:56 But we need to end with a poll.
01:07:58 Guys, the poll is going to be,
01:08:02 of the eight episodes we got of Ahsoka,
01:08:04 which was your favorite?
01:08:06 You can go to blindwave.com,
01:08:07 click the link for the Ahsoka video,
01:08:09 it's gonna be right under the video,
01:08:11 both in the full-length version, the reaction version,
01:08:14 all you gotta do is scroll down, you'll find that poll,
01:08:16 and let us know what your favorite was.
01:08:18 You can also comment maybe a favorite moment
01:08:21 or a reason that you picked that one.
01:08:23 Personally, for me, I think episode six
01:08:25 is a very, very special one with the World Between Worlds.
01:08:30 Far, far away.
01:08:31 - Far, far away.
01:08:33 - Oh no, I'm sorry, that was five.
01:08:36 Five was what we were talking about.
01:08:38 - Yeah. - Yeah.
01:08:40 Shadow Warrior was the name of that episode.
01:08:42 - That's the one that you're thinking of.
01:08:43 - No, I did like Far, Far Away.
01:08:44 It's probably a close second.
01:08:46 I liked Far, Far Away.
01:08:48 Lot of information in that one.
01:08:52 I like Dreams and Madness, too.
01:08:54 Yeah, I don't know, I'll go with this one.
01:08:58 - Yeah, number eight? - Yeah.
01:09:00 - I'm gonna say number five.
01:09:04 - Number five, I'm just gonna take it from you.
01:09:05 That's what we think, we wanna hear
01:09:06 what you guys have to think,
01:09:08 and thank you so much for following along with us
01:09:12 as we watch this amazing show.
01:09:13 If you want to add us to your Star Wars ritual,
01:09:17 we'll be here, we cover absolutely everything that we can.
01:09:20 We're slowly catching up on a lot of the
01:09:23 canon books and comics, and if that's something
01:09:25 that you personally are kind of intimidated by,
01:09:28 it's like, that's a lot to get through,
01:09:29 you can follow along with us,
01:09:31 and we're just kinda doing it slowly.
01:09:32 We've covered some stuff so far
01:09:34 that you can find in playlists,
01:09:35 like book reviews and stuff like that.
01:09:37 We'll be covering some comics here very soon,
01:09:39 The High Republic, and then all things
01:09:42 television and movies coming up.
01:09:44 - Yes, movies! - We got Skeleton Crew,
01:09:46 we got The Acolyte coming,
01:09:48 we have a couple movies in the works,
01:09:51 who knows what stage and development those are,
01:09:53 but we'll be here to talk and to enjoy,
01:09:56 so make sure you subscribe, and I think that's it.
01:09:59 You guys got anything else?
01:10:00 - No, bye guys, more so-ca.
01:10:02 Guys, thank you so much for watching.
01:10:05 Make sure to join us if you're here tomorrow,
01:10:07 Thursday, the 5th, 3pm, we're gonna be doing
01:10:10 Badonkadonk, talking about a canon book,
01:10:13 a new Don, it's Kanan and Hera.
01:10:15 - And if you can't be there, just watch the video.
01:10:17 - Yes, it'll be available as well.
