00:00 >> [INAUDIBLE]
00:10 >> What makes Mike Gunbury such a tricky running back?
00:23 >> Tricky? >> Yeah, what makes him so tough to stop?
00:25 >> Well, not necessarily tricky.
00:26 I think he's very downhill, he runs strong.
00:31 He's pretty big, he has some size on him.
00:33 And he has good vision.
00:36 I don't know what you mean by tricky.
00:37 >> Just in general, tough to tackle.
00:39 >> Yeah, I would say more from a physical standpoint,
00:42 just the way he runs and his balance.
00:45 >> I asked you about why it's been difficult for the defense to stop him.
00:49 You said you had to look at tape.
00:51 What have you seen in looking at that tape and
00:53 why that's been a struggle area for you guys?
00:56 >> It's been small issues.
00:59 Like I said, some of the simplest is as an alignment.
01:03 But it's hard to say.
01:12 Like I said, this is a true game of teamwork, you know what I'm saying?
01:16 So it can just be one guy that's out of his gap and it can fall, it can crumble.
01:21 So we just have to count on everybody doing their job and
01:25 being disciplined cuz the run game really doesn't take a lot of talent.
01:28 It just takes discipline and grit.
01:30 So I think those are the main two things that we just need to hone in on.
01:33 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:36 >> What have you seen out of him during the early stages of his game?
01:42 >> I always say, Utah always had, there's no surprise to me that he's rushing well.
01:47 Like I said, in the prior years, he's been put in difficult positions to have
01:54 a lot of set success, cuz he's in a four-eye and playing three at one point.
01:59 But now I think he's back into his true position of being on the edge.
02:03 He's able to use his strength and that kind of thing.
02:05 So I always knew he was gonna take that, so I'm happy to see it.
02:10 >> This was a big win for you guys last year.
02:13 Given the scheme change, is there much to gain from that tape from last year?
02:21 >> From a defensive standpoint?
02:25 Not really, I feel like a lot of things kinda roll over from defensive.
02:31 They do have those two new backs that they're doing a great job,
02:34 and they got a nice one-two punch.
02:36 Still, the golfers don't get rid of the ball, he's gonna make good decisions.
02:41 Other than that, I don't see nothing.
02:43 >> What was the key last season that really slowed him down?
02:49 >> One, I mean, we were locked in.
02:52 But two, also, like I said, it's a team sport, complementing football.
02:57 Our offense did a great job last year with running the ball,
03:00 and that was really weighing on their team.
03:03 So other than that, defensively, we were locked in.
03:07 We were all over them, so that's just what that was.
03:09 >> How do you duplicate that this Sunday, having that level?
03:13 >> I honestly feel like our defense is still at that point.
03:16 I think it's just the main goal is planning the entirety of the game.
03:19 We're great for a half or three quarters or whatever it may be,
03:25 and then we take a slump.
03:27 We have to work on not doing that.
03:29 So I think that's our main focus right now, mental stamina.
03:36 >> Brian, it's outside of the obvious.
03:38 What would a win do for this room on Sunday?
03:40 I mean, forget the record itself, but
03:42 what would it do for the feeling inside this room?
03:44 >> Confidence.
03:47 I think that's one of the main things.
03:48 We look at every day as pretty much attacking the day the same way.
03:54 But once you get that first win, it's a relief.
03:59 Okay, now we can start stacking them, but you just have to get it first.
04:02 >> Is the first one the hardest one?
04:05 >> I would say, yeah, I would say.
04:06 Starts with a little bit of skill.
04:07 >> All right, thanks, Brian.
04:10 >> Thanks, Brian.
04:11 >> Thanks.
