A first look at Glasgow’s new darts bar Flight Club ahead of its official opening
Flight Club is five years in the making, situated at the east corner of George Square. The darts bar officially opens to the public on 6 October.

00:00 Thanks Jonathan. Welcome to Flight Club Glasgow just on the corner of George Square. We're
00:07 on North Frederick Street and George Street. We open tomorrow which is Friday the 6th of
00:11 October. We've always loved the idea of Glasgow. I think it's such a great city in terms of
00:16 what's going on, hospitality, there's always something popping up and something new to
00:20 do and we love to bring something new to a city and we genuinely believe that Flight
00:25 Club provides that for Glasgow. You've got games but you've also got hopefully a really
00:29 cool looking bar and food and drinks too. So we've wanted to be part of it for quite
00:33 some time and we think from 5-6 years ago we first saw this site we fell in love with
00:39 it, we loved the heritage aspect and we can't wait to show everyone of Glasgow what we've
00:44 been working on. So with Flight Club we take the heritage of Darts which is the pub and
00:48 the fairground and we try to infuse that together. So this room is very much leaning on the pub,
00:53 we've got all these beautiful old paintings, lovely feature wallpaper and it's a nice
00:59 new colour scheme that we've worked with that we haven't used before but you've still got
01:02 the banquette seating that we normally have in our venues and the ring lights that you
01:05 see in all Flight Clubs. So everyone can book online to come join us, we welcome groups
01:10 from 2 to 350. You get an occy as part of your booking so that's your semi-private playing
01:16 area and each occy holds up to 12 people at once so you can have 12 people playing our
01:20 games so you'll be in pairs once there's more than 6 of you and it's £13 a person for a
01:24 10 minute session. So we took this site on about 5 years ago, in advance of that we spend
01:29 about 6 to 8 months mood boarding and bringing the pieces together for what we think the
01:34 vision for the building will be. With this site here on George Square it was a really
01:38 old building, the tax hall, loads of heritage feature pieces for the team to play with but
01:43 also that provides its own challenge so it was working out how we could best work with
01:47 this site but also show off all of its amazing features so you've got double storey height
01:53 and a mezzanine area as well as well as kind of hidden occy's around the back as well so
01:57 there's a lot of different features to show off there and also some new schemes for us
02:00 to kind of play around with and try to. We're so excited to join this neighbourhood and
02:04 also for more people to be coming as well, we always see it as great news if more people
02:08 are coming to a neighbourhood because we can all help bring something to life with it so
02:13 having more options and more places to try out is no bad thing. We're not shy of the
02:18 fact that we know that people might not come to us every day but they hope they'll come
02:21 back to us so if we've got some fun neighbours around the corner that's brilliant news. We
02:24 recommend booking for social darts itself because that tends to get quite popular but
02:28 we've got plenty of space for food and drinks whether it's lunch during the week, weekends
02:32 we do brunch so we do bottomless pizza, bottle of prosecco each, social darts, have a DJ
02:37 playing so it's really fun so you can join us for loads of reasons whether it's with
02:40 your pals after work or on a big team night out or just for a date night and a drink at
02:45 the bar we should be able to provide something for everyone. So this space is our mezzanine
02:49 floor so we've got four ockies up here, it's lovely bright yellow which is a different
02:53 colour palette that we've worked with before that's a really nice one, nice and joyful
02:58 and warm. You can book this as a private area for team building so you can have 75 people
03:02 playing up here but also you get a great view of the bar down below as well so you get to
03:07 hear all the joy coming from the bar but you also get a nice sky view of that as well.
03:11 We do have a spectacular team of interior designers, they're all in house so there's
03:15 a team of 17 that work on all of our sites to cast and design them so as I said before
03:20 you should always know you're in a flight club but each one's different and Flight Club
03:23 Glasgow is no different. So it's how can we lean on the heritage features so you can see
03:27 all of the cornering here in the building so we work tirelessly to kind of restore that
03:32 but then also looking at new ways to elevate what we do with our brand whether it's the
03:36 colouring, the antiques details, the signage and fairground elements that you see as you
03:40 come around us as well.
