00:00 All right, enough of that, DRS.
00:01 We gotta go back to 2004 to find the last time
00:05 the Minnesota Twins won a playoff baseball game.
00:08 But that skid, that streak, came to a close yesterday
00:12 in the Twin Cities.
00:13 The Twins, snapping an 18-game playoff losing streak,
00:17 winning their first since 2004,
00:20 three to one, the victory over Toronto.
00:22 And DRS, this was the slightest edge
00:25 for the home team yesterday.
00:27 The Twins were minus 116 on the money line.
00:30 The Jays were minus 102.
00:31 Kevin Gossman got the start for Toronto.
00:33 Pablo Lopez on the other side for Minnesota.
00:36 Both pitchers not bad.
00:38 Lopez, sensational.
00:39 And Royce Lewis, the rookie, hitting two home runs
00:43 in his first two playoff at-bats,
00:46 recording all three RBIs yesterday for Minnesota.
00:50 He was huge in that spot, Donnie.
00:52 And the Twins snapped that 18-game playoff losing skid
00:55 with a three-one win over Toronto.
00:58 - Yeah, big time.
00:58 And by the way, coming into this year
00:59 is when the brackets first came out,
01:01 we knew exactly who was playing
01:02 and where they were playing.
01:03 I took a look and said, you know what,
01:04 Toronto's probably got a pretty good shot here
01:06 to upend the Twins.
01:07 But the more you got down to some of those numbers here,
01:09 you take a look at the lineups
01:10 and how they project against right-handed pitching,
01:12 and also more importantly, the pitching staffs here.
01:14 I turned it over and yesterday I was like, you know what?
01:16 Milwaukee's gonna, excuse me,
01:17 Minnesota's gonna win this game
01:19 and Minnesota's also going to win this series.
01:20 Why?
01:21 I think they're better at the plate
01:22 and quite frankly, better on the mound
01:24 over the first two games,
01:25 which is gonna be important.
01:26 I don't think this actually gets to a game number three.
01:28 And that's not a knock on Toronto saying,
01:30 oh, they just didn't show up in the playoffs.
01:32 The Minnesota Twins have flown under the radar
01:33 the entire season here.
01:35 And if you weren't looking at that lineup,
01:36 and there's not a lot of household names in that lineup,
01:38 which includes Royce Lewis.
01:40 You say, well, Donnie's the number one overall pick
01:41 in 2017, what do you mean?
01:43 Come on now, nobody's seen him until this year.
01:45 And he has played quite well,
01:46 but we're not talking about the Minnesota Twins
01:48 on Sunday night baseball every single week
01:50 where you get to know this team.
01:51 It's a quality team here
01:52 that does have a very good pitching staff.
01:54 And you're gonna see that show up again today.
01:56 Big time win for the Twins yesterday.
01:58 They did exactly what they needed to.
01:59 They only got five hits in that game.
02:01 Two from Lewis, both left the ball yard.
02:03 That's how you win games.
02:04 Kids stepping up in big moments like that
02:06 that maybe you don't anticipate.
