00:06 The cost of living crisis is a very real worry for businesses around the city of Bristol.
00:11 Many high streets are lined with empty stores and lots of local small businesses are struggling
00:17 due to the rising cost of living.
00:20 But what do locals think is the biggest problem facing the high street?
00:25 Let's find out.
00:27 It's been men. The place is a tip. And all we ask for is it to be kept clean.
00:36 People can take things home, they can put it in bins. They never do.
00:46 And also, this is going to be built on soon. And that is a travesty. That really is.
00:55 It's something that's being taken away from us.
00:59 Green grocers are separate from the supermarkets. That's what I'd like to see. And plenty of it.
01:08 Because I shop in Morrisons, I do. It's not very often I use these shops.
01:16 And the things they sell, it's more for families. It's not separate.
01:22 I can get things in Morrisons, small stuff, and it's just right for me because I live on my own.
01:29 I think I would agree with the general public that banks and chemists would be a really good addition to high streets.
01:38 Because anything can happen. And maybe a local NHS drop-in, a walk-in.
01:46 Just if something happens, although we don't know, people might have an accident in there or get sick.
01:52 At least there's some area that we can be safe for that, for advice and all that stuff.
01:59 Due to administration, dozens of Wilcos have closed around the country.
02:04 According to administrators, all of Wilco's 400 shops will close by early this month.
02:10 And the remaining stores are selling off all their final stock.
02:14 The Clifton store on Queens Road saw empty shelves and administration signs lining the store.
02:20 But what would locals like to see it replaced with? And how do they feel about its closure?
02:27 I think additional Primark, that would be one.
02:33 Because for now here in Bristol, it's only in the city centre.
02:37 And I think an additional of that would be a good idea.
02:42 And then maybe a local drug store.
02:46 And shops like these, like small shops, like 24/7 shops, so that it'll be accessible as well to everyone.
02:55 Only time will tell how the high street and small businesses will be impacted by the cost of living crisis.
