"The Delhi Police Special Cell has filed a new case against NewsClick under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. In the national capital, several journalists' residences were searched on Tuesday morning, and a reporter was briefly detained. The search extended to NewsClick's premises as well. At around 7.15 am, a team of seven police personnel, including two in plainclothes, visited a NewsClick reporter's home in south Delhi, questioning him for an hour before leaving at around 8.15 am, assuring his release. The Enforcement Directorate had previously attached the portal's assets while investigating its funding, following allegations from The New York Times that it received support from American tech mogul Neville Roy Singham, claiming links between China, the Indian National Congress, and NewsClick. Homes of other journalists, including Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, Prabir Purkayastha, Abhisar Sharma, Urmilesh, Aunindyo Chakraborty, satirist Sanjay Rajaura, and activist Sohail Hashmi, were reportedly searched. Abhisar Sharma and Bhasha Singh confirmed this on social media.
