00:00 "Men power protects you!"
00:02 "Cool, cool, cool, yeah."
00:04 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the callbacks, appearances, and easter eggs
00:10 included throughout the 30th season of Power Rangers.
00:13 Needless to say, you can expect major spoilers ahead.
00:16 "Ha! Unleash the power!"
00:18 "Dino Charge, Dark Ranger!"
00:26 The very first shot in the season features a callback that even Ranger historians had to do a double take.
00:32 We zoom in on the Rangers battling Zedd's forces on the planet Zordnia.
00:35 "Some research trip this turned out to be, Billy!"
00:38 "Sorry!"
00:39 This obscure planet was previously mentioned all the way back in season 3 as the house of the dormant Shogun Zords,
00:45 as Billy briefly mentions.
00:46 It turns out there are more surprises on the planet,
00:49 as it's here where the Cosmic Fury Rangers unlock their new Cosmic Fury Zords to aid them in the ongoing battle against Zedd's forces.
00:55 It makes you wonder what other surprises could be hidden on a planet so obscure that even hardcore Ranger fans couldn't remember it.
01:02 "Did it work?"
01:03 "Yeah, bud. You activated the Zords."
01:05 "Nick? What are the odds?"
01:09 Nick Canick, the quirky mentor for the Ninja Steel Rangers,
01:12 surprised both the Rangers and the audience when he appeared in Dino Fury to help out.
01:16 We are happy to say that his guest appearance was not in vain,
01:20 as he becomes a recurring ally to the Cosmic Fury Rangers throughout the season.
01:24 "Those new suits crush the competition! And those weapons, mwah!"
01:29 "Now, is that arm-wrestling tech? 'Cause it's pretty slick."
01:32 There's more.
01:33 Remember when Mick briefly became the Red Ninja Steel in his debut season?
01:37 Well, once again, he gets a chance to don the red suit and even pilot the Zords to offer more help on the battlefield.
01:44 "Ah! I love the feel of Ninja Steel! And the suit still fits!"
01:49 Ninja Steel didn't get much love after its run,
01:52 so seeing it make a comeback like this is definitely a treat.
01:55 You could only imagine the fandom's excitement to see Billy Cranston,
02:09 the Mighty Morphin' Blue Ranger, returning to action and acting as a mentor to the newer generation.
02:14 But as an extra cherry on this nostalgic Sunday,
02:17 when the Rangers go into battle in the new Zords, Billy pilots the Cosmic Wolf Zord.
02:22 "Whoa! More phenomenal!"
02:24 All the way back in season 3, Billy's Ninja and Shogun Zords were both based on wolves.
02:30 While Billy's well-known for his Triceratops motif,
02:33 seeing him take charge of a blue wolf in an anniversary season feels like a full circle turn for the OG brainy Ranger.
02:39 "Cosmic Fury Megazord, ready!"
02:42 "Hello, everyone."
02:45 "Hi, Billy!"
02:46 Near the tail end of the season,
02:48 Billy calls the Cosmic Fury Rangers to catch them up on the situation throughout the universe.
02:53 The minute he pops up on screen,
02:55 we see that he's calling from one of the franchise's most iconic locations, the Command Center.
03:00 More specifically, the newer, more advanced Cranston Tech Command Center featured in "Once and Always."
03:05 "Cranston Tech's founder calls me a master. Oh, if dinosaurs could blush!"
03:11 We even see Zordon's empty tube in the background,
03:13 and Alpha at the control panels doing what he does best.
03:16 While the original Command Center was destroyed years ago,
03:19 its iconic likeness remains alive and well as a symbol of hope in the franchise to this day.
03:25 "Thanks, Billy. Keep us updated."
03:27 "Affirmative."
03:28 Naturally, for an anniversary season,
03:32 we hear multiple name drops of iconic and notable locations throughout the franchise's history.
03:37 "The rest of my team has been freed from one of Z's prisons in Angel Grove."
03:40 "Zack's hip-hop keto really confused the Zentinals."
03:43 These include Reefside from "Dino Thunder,"
03:46 Nassauda from "In Space,"
03:47 and even Angel Grove, the city that started it all.
03:51 At one point, Billy specifically mentions New Tech City from "SPD,"
03:55 mentioning how the alien survivors from Lord Zedd's invasion are all moving here.
03:58 "Alien civilians caught in the battle are losing their homes."
04:02 "Our forces are having to take them to New Tech City back on Earth."
04:06 This establishes that most of the aliens living in the city were all made unhoused by the Emperor of Evil,
04:11 and further deepens New Tech's title as a haven for aliens across the galaxy.
04:15 "99% of the newcomers live in harmony."
04:18 It's more phenomenal to know that 30 years later,
04:21 the franchise is still keeping the seasons connected one way or another.
04:25 "The only bright spot is hanging out with you, Heckle."
04:31 "Bright spot?"
04:32 "I think of myself as more of a...
04:35 ...shadowy menace."
04:38 In the Boom Studios comics,
04:39 Heckle, the reformed ex-enemy of the Dino Charge Rangers,
04:42 was given a chance to further redeem himself as the Dino Charge Dark Ranger.
04:46 His suit was based on the unused Death Rager suit from "Kyo Rager."
04:50 It was awesome enough seeing it in the comics,
04:52 but fans will be delighted to see that not only does Heckle return in the show as the Ranger spy,
04:57 but the Dark Ranger suit makes its full debut in the show.
05:00 "But after a classic redemption arc, I became a Ranger?"
05:05 "Eventually, yes. I'm a good egg now."
05:08 Not only is incorporating elements from the comics a massive treat,
05:12 but it's also inspirational to see how far Heckle has come since his days as a devious prisoner.
05:17 "From one ex-bad guy to another, not bad."
05:20 "Someone else can take the next tentacle-related mission, though."
05:23 In the final battle of the season,
05:28 the Cosmic Fury Rangers find themselves at a huge disadvantage as Bejilius forces box them in.
05:33 However, Billy arrives with the best backup any Ranger can ask for,
05:37 a squad of Megazords.
05:39 "Greetings. Heard the mayday so long. We've got a surprise I think you're gonna like."
05:44 These include the Dino, Astro, Galaxy, Ninja Blaze, and Beast-X Megazords.
05:49 While their CG renders leave a lot to be desired,
05:52 seeing so many robotic titans kicking butt in one place is all kinds of awesome.
05:56 "That's some classic Megazord action right there!"
05:59 Even more so considering the Astro and Galaxy Megazords have been out of action for over two decades,
06:04 and yet it's like they were never retired.
06:06 Even though their appearance was brief, their presence alone made the most of it.
06:11 "Thank all the others for us, Billy. We wouldn't have got out without you."
06:13 With Lord Zedd back in the Universal Conquest game,
06:18 he needs a new palace and decides to set up shop on Eltar.
06:22 "Ah, welcome, boy, to my new fortress. It's the chariot of my latest conquest, Planet Eltar!"
06:30 For those not caught up on Ranger lore,
06:32 Eltar is the home planet of the OG Ranger mentor Zordon.
06:36 Having Zedd turn what was once a peace-seeking planet,
06:39 and the birthplace of his mortal enemy,
06:41 into an empire of destruction is twisted in every sense of the word.
06:45 "Eltar is under attack!"
06:47 Even more so if you consider the comics canon when this was also Zedd's home
06:51 before he became the deformed evil warlord we know today.
06:54 We give Zedd credit for this. He has a good taste for irony.
06:58 "Wasn't your enemy Zordon from here?"
07:00 "And this would only be sweeter if he was still alive to watch his people perish!"
07:05 Number 2 - The New Z-Wave?
07:08 Just when you thought Zedd was large and in charge,
07:10 Bajilius swoops in and reveals that he was just a pawn in her evil plan.
07:14 Her ultimate end goal involves trapping an all-powerful Zedd in an energy tube and shattering it,
07:19 using his destructive wave to wipe out all the good in the universe.
07:23 "Does this sound familiar to anyone else?"
07:25 Sound familiar? It's the antithesis of the iconic Z-Wave,
07:29 where Zordon sacrificed himself to purge the universe of the United Alliance of Evil in the in-space finale.
07:35 "Lies! Slander! This energy wave is the intellectual property of Squid Ink, Ink!"
07:41 "It destroys good, not evil. There's no similarity!"
07:45 That sacrifice was a monumental moment for the franchise.
07:48 And now it's inspired a monstrous CEO to pull an inverse of it?
07:52 The irony really is strong with this season.
07:54 "It's gonna explode and release an evil energy wave!"
07:57 "Like the inverse of Zordon's wave. All that's good in the universe wiped out!"
08:02 Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.
08:06 Rita Repulsa. Rita Repulsa returns as an allusion to Torment Zedd.
08:11 "That voice! Rita! I told you not to bother me at work!"
08:15 "Ahh! More babies!"
08:18 Heckyl's Helmet. Heckyl's Helmet is the repainted navy version of his Sentai counterparts.
08:23 "I'd suggest learning some good manners."
08:27 "Sleepy cuffs!"
08:29 "Your occupation is over."
08:31 Unused monster cameos. Some of Zedd's minions are unused Sentai monsters.
08:36 "You all work for me now."
08:38 A countdown to destruction. A cheeky name drop of the in-space finale.
08:44 "A countdown to destruction?"
08:47 General Shaw. The Beast Morpher's mentor delivers a hopeful message at a press conference.
08:52 "Let me assure you, Earth stands united and defiant."

09:12 Number 1. May the Power Protect You.
09:16 Since the Mighty Morphin' years, the phrase "May the Power Protect You" has been a staple of the franchise and Zordon's iconic catchphrase.
09:23 "Very well then, let the power protect you."
09:26 While Ion is trapped in the void, we meet a ghostly figure resembling Zato who utters that very catchphrase,
09:32 reminiscing how he used to say it.
09:34 "There's something I used to say in times such as these."
09:37 "May the power protect you."
09:40 So this basically confirms what Billy thought in once and always, that Zordon is indeed still out there in some form,
09:47 watching as his saying keeps inspiring Rangers across the galaxy.
09:51 This is further proved as the phrase is turned into a heartwarming song to close out the season.
09:56 A fitting conclusion to celebrate 30 years of Power Rangers.
10:00 "No matter how far, may the power protect you."

10:10 "Until next time, Rangers."
