00:00 >> When you look at some of the trends around the league, you see McDaniels
00:04 doing it in Miami and Chaney doing it in San Francisco with that kind of
00:09 quick motion from receivers.
00:12 Looks like you guys were doing that with DT yesterday.
00:14 >> Yeah. >> Can you just talk about that and
00:16 is that kind of the newest way to get a very fast player and
00:19 even more of a head start?
00:21 >> I think it's about using the guys that you have.
00:23 And what we have is a couple of young guys with Trey and DT and
00:28 with Rock Jarrett to be able to put some movement on them.
00:32 Try to get, whenever you can switch the pass strength with a quick motion or
00:37 something like that, it just softens up the defense a little bit,
00:40 helps your releases, and then makes the linebackers have to kind of look at some
00:44 things and assess it.
00:46 So yeah, it's something they brought to the NFL game and
00:49 kind of popularized it a little bit.
00:51 College has been doing it for a long time, for a couple of years now.
00:54 So just even dating back to Seattle, being there before, and
00:58 then some of the things we try to build with DT throughout it.
01:02 It's a good thing.
01:03 >> David, on that long drive, you kind of threw everything at them, right?
01:07 You had hand arounds, you had shovel passes, you even had Chris Gotham throw a ball.
01:14 When you're able to do that, and I know you wanna use all your players, but
01:18 just how does that keep your guys stimulated?
01:21 And just those plays you have to work on in practice,
01:24 you have to spend time on them.
01:25 Just the theory behind being that creative on a singular drive and
01:29 throwing that much at it.
01:30 >> Yeah, I mean, it's fun for sure, to that point.
01:33 The guys do enjoy that.
01:35 As long as they're a part of the play, cuz again, that's a lot of mileage for
01:40 if we aren't giving them an opportunity for the ball.
01:43 But I think in a drive like that against a defense like this,
01:49 I just wasn't gonna try to make it this macho, mono and mono type of things.
01:56 There's ways to do that, make them work.
01:58 And I think coming out of the first three games, I just felt like maybe I wasn't
02:03 trying hard enough to just get first downs, make yards.
02:07 While we're learning the core of our system,
02:09 while we're trying to learn the fundamental blocking schemes,
02:13 that we gotta get good at the reads for the backs.
02:15 We talked a lot about the rhythm of the backs over the last couple weeks.
02:19 But the combos up front, we have to be able to practice all that.
02:24 But while we're getting those things, try harder to get first downs,
02:27 try harder to make yards.
02:28 And I was happy about that yesterday.
02:31 >> Did you have an RPO play in there?
02:33 It looked like there was a Mayfield Otten, almost an RPO play.
02:36 >> We got a bunch of sneaky little RPOs built in on a lot of our plays
02:42 under center and in the gun, so I'm not sure exactly which one you're referencing.
02:46 But yeah, we do have options to take advantage of an uncovered receiver here
02:52 or there, or if the backers overplay a run,
02:55 then it's good to just have some answers on the back side in different ways.
02:59 >> What was the thinking with getting Keyshawn Vaughn in there as the number two
03:02 back instead of Sean Tucker?
03:04 And it looked like for a minute there,
03:07 he was gonna get as many opportunities as Rashawn did.
03:10 >> Yeah, who's been around playing against the Saints longer than Sneak,
03:15 as far as in the backfield goes?
03:17 So he's got the experience.
03:18 This is a really good defense.
03:20 They do a lot of cool things, whether it's first, second, or
03:23 third down in some of the packaging.
03:26 And we felt like Sneak gave us the best opportunity that if they didn't do
03:29 something exotic, he would have the eyes that have seen it.
03:34 They did something in the run game, he'd be able to find his way through those
03:38 things, and I thought he did a great job in the role that he played.
03:42 >> Whether it was a big third down conversion to Chris Godwin late in
03:45 the game or the touchdown to Devin Tompkins,
03:47 the offense continuously showed up in big moments.
03:50 Can you speak about them just showing up when it was most clutch and needed?
03:54 >> Yeah, I mean, it starts up front.
03:56 So what we're learning about our offensive line is it's a really good
03:59 pass-protecting group.
04:01 They got us a couple times, that happens to everybody.
04:04 But they continue to show us their ability to do that, so it starts there.
04:07 But then Baker, just making great decisions, and
04:11 they got us on a penalty on one ball, didn't quite get to the line of scrimmage.
04:17 But his decision-making process has been so good,
04:21 the confidence is growing for the group, for me, with what we can do.
04:25 And then, where's Chris at?
04:28 Game on the line, where's Chris Godwin?
04:33 And teams know that, defenses know that, we know it.
04:37 And just the line giving us a chance to find him and to work.
04:40 And then DT, just his energy, right?
04:43 Like one of the things I tell the group all the time is the ball finds energy.
04:47 So if you break with a lot of juice, you make your break,
04:52 it just grabs the attention of the quarterback.
04:54 It's no different than basketball, where everyone's kind of spreading out.
04:57 Someone breaks through the hoop fast, you see him and you dish it.
05:00 It's kind of the same feel, the ball find energy.
05:02 So it was pretty cool there.
