00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're taking a look at the 10 best open world Switch games.
00:22 Looking for a game to get lost in while on the go?
00:33 Well these will certainly help kill some time whether you're by yourself or with friends.
00:38 Which open world game is your favorite to play on Switch?
00:41 Let us know down in the comments.
00:43 Before we begin we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo
00:47 Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:52 The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
00:54 We figured we would start with an obvious pick.
01:07 Before launch we would have thrown Breath of the Wild on here, but Tears of the Kingdom
01:11 has been one of the most impressive titles we've seen come to the Switch.
01:15 Not only has the world been expanded upon and given more of a focus on vertical level design,
01:20 but the ability to fuse just about anything and everything to anything and everything
01:25 forces you to rethink combat and puzzles in ways you may have never thought before.
01:29 You will easily clock in dozens of hours just messing around with the physics
01:41 before you even realize it.
01:49 The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
01:51 Look, we know that Skyrim is old, but so are some of our other entries that we'll get to soon.
02:05 It doesn't mean they shouldn't be included if they're available on Switch.
02:16 For Skyrim, we will admit that it probably doesn't run as well or look as great as the
02:20 other versions, but even so, it still plays great on the Switch, and the best part is that you can
02:26 pick up and continue right where you left off whenever you're ready, assuming you haven't
02:30 left your console off of the charger for too long.
02:32 Lego City Undercover
02:40 Charged!
02:41 What do you think you're doing? You can't call me! I'm in witness protection!
02:46 Granted, there are plenty of Lego games that are perfect to play on the Switch.
02:50 Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 and Lego DC Super Villains are great picks.
02:54 So why does Lego City Undercover get the spotlight? Well, for starters,
02:58 it's the perfect game to play on Switch as the main story focuses on just one character,
03:03 Chase McCain.
03:04 Maybe neither, maybe both.
03:06 Yeah, I really do have to tick one of the boxes.
03:09 And also, with the Joy-Cons, you have a second controller with you at all times,
03:14 so you can play with a friend at any given point.
03:16 But more importantly, the Switch version features some exclusive content
03:21 that was originally on the Wii U version.
03:23 Mario Stuff!
03:25 The open world contains several puzzles and collectibles featuring Mario characters and
03:29 items, and it's probably the closest we will ever get to a Lego Mario game.
03:34 Think you're up to getting all those fellas back in their hotel? All in a day's work.
03:39 Dragon Quest Builders 2
03:41 Wade through deep waters,
03:43 warp across the retro-inspired map, and freely view the landscape in first person.
03:48 We could have very easily slapped Minecraft on this list,
03:51 but if you want a building game with more meat on its narrative bones,
03:55 this is an excellent place to start.
03:58 Dragon Quest Builders 2 improves on its predecessor with a better UI and control scheme,
04:02 while delivering a story that is often goofy and entertaining.
04:06 Combat is not completely absent though.
04:09 Yes, most of the game revolves around building,
04:11 but you will have to put on your best basic sword attacks to keep you and your party alive.
04:16 Speaking of, you can play the game wirelessly with up to four players too,
04:26 so you've essentially got a single player adventure that can quickly become a fun co-op experience.
04:32 "This is your world to build and to defend. Are you ready?"
04:39 Monster Hunter Stories 2 Wings of Ruin
04:44 If you want an open world RPG that invokes quite a bit of challenge,
04:56 then you can't go wrong with this entry into Monster Hunter.
04:59 While it boasts the same loop as Pokemon, where you fight monsters and take control of them,
05:04 they aren't going to let you do just the same move four times and surrender.
05:08 No, it takes about as much time and skill to beat as the core Monster Hunter games.
05:21 Plus, you'll have 100 of these beasts to conquer and another 150 after finishing the main game.
05:28 Needless to say, you will be busy catching them all.
05:31 The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt
05:39 The fact that this game is able to function on the Switch at all is just astounding.
05:54 Again, we know that The Witcher 3 was on other platforms before Switch,
05:57 but that doesn't change anything.
05:59 Much like Skyrim, this game is so massive that some might prefer taking it in chunks,
06:08 especially if they're on the go with some downtime between travels.
06:12 Play it that way, and it might just fill out a year or two of your time.
06:15 Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen
06:22 Yeah, we've got a lot of RPGs on here, but they're all just so incredible,
06:37 Dragon's Dogma especially.
06:39 There is a perfect blend between difficult yet epic combat scenarios
06:43 and captivating storytelling that few games are able to match.
06:47 On top of that, the different ways you can make your own build and form parties out of pawns
06:52 can make every fight feel like a whole new encounter.
06:55 Look, just trust us when we say we have yet to meet a soul who doesn't like Dragon's Dogma.
07:01 Just give it an hour, and you will see the might and beauty of this game.
07:16 Burnout Paradise Remastered
07:21 So what if you aren't an RPG dork like most of us here at Mojo Plays?
07:34 Well, there is an open-world racing game for you to check out.
07:38 If you missed out on 2008's Burnout Paradise, well, this is the real deal.
07:43 In addition to a sprawling city that's begging you to smash cars into its walls,
07:53 you also get the Big Surf Island expansion,
07:55 as well as all of the DLC cars that came after its initial launch.
07:59 It's easy to spend hours racing as you aim to become the fastest driver in Paradise City,
08:05 and there's an excellent track list to let you jam while you take the streets.
08:09 Xenoblade Chronicles Series
08:18 For all you JRPG weebs out there, we gotta hand it to the Xenoblade Chronicles series.
08:32 These games really do slap, and they slap hard.
08:35 If you've ever been intimidated by how other JRPGs present their UI in HUDs,
08:39 the Xenoblade games do an excellent job at simplifying them and making them easier to understand.
08:45 And the best part is that all three of the main games are available on Switch.
08:56 Even better, you don't have to jump into the first game necessarily,
09:00 as each game stands as their own experiences.
09:03 There might be some references to previous iterations,
09:06 but for the most part, you can start with whichever one speaks to you the most.
09:10 Animal Crossing New Horizons
09:18 Though it may go against conventional definitions of open world games,
09:29 we would still classify New Horizons as one.
09:32 After all, your island is pretty huge.
09:35 Big enough for your residents to move to and for all the decorations you want to put up.
09:39 But yes, New Horizons is an absolute joy to play by yourself and with friends.
09:44 Many of us have already spent dozens of hours furnishing our homes,
09:55 crafting new decor, and planting flowers in the right spot to make our tropical paradise.
10:00 On top of that, you can fish, dig for fossils, or hang out with friends on their islands.
10:05 It is perhaps the coziest open world game you could possibly play.
10:09 Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed the video, there's more where that came from.
