00:12 Bit of a surprise winner
00:14 What's your previous best?
00:16 Eh, previous best would be a
00:18 2.31 down in London
00:20 No problem with that
00:22 Yeah, I'll try to beat it
00:24 So, ehm
00:26 2.31 to 2.22
00:28 Quite new to running I'd say, I went running for a year
00:30 and then I joined a running club, the Odin running club
00:32 Eh, I've been running with them
00:34 for about 9 months now
00:36 Oh right
00:38 Just picking up, picking up. Shout out to Owen, the coach
00:40 So thank you to him and everyone at Odin
00:42 for speeding me up
00:44 [Laughs]
00:46 So you only took up running when?
00:48 Eh, no, the first proper marathon was the Loch Ness Marathon
00:50 back in 2019
00:52 I've done this one three times, each time taking off
00:54 I think
00:56 10 minutes and then this time taking off
00:58 19 minutes on last year
01:00 So, eh, yes, my first marathon
01:02 Oh wow, brilliant
01:04 So, what's changed in your training
01:06 now since you've gone to this recruitment?
01:08 Just running every day basically
01:10 Actually training instead of doing it more casually
01:12 So, yeah, that's the one
01:14 Yeah, ok
01:16 So today, did you go into this race
01:18 with any expectations or
01:20 expectations?
01:22 It just depends who was running
01:24 I was in the top 5
01:26 and I was even happier than that, I beat 230
01:28 So, yeah
01:30 It's nice to
01:32 do better than what you're maybe expected
01:34 So yeah, that's pretty good
01:36 So tell us about the race itself and how did it actually develop
01:38 I believe you didn't take the lead
01:40 No, not at all, I think I was about fifth
01:42 until about 4 miles
01:44 and then started taking over people in the hills
01:46 a wee bit
01:48 and then the guy who came in second
01:50 he was ahead up until 22 and a half miles
01:52 streets ahead of everyone, I thought he was going to
01:54 maybe beat the course record or something
01:56 he was miles ahead
01:58 and then I found the doors a little bit tough
02:00 and then
02:02 I was overtaking about 22 and a half
02:04 and then that's us
02:06 That's when you caught him there
02:08 You finished really strongly
02:10 Yeah, it's nice to have a wee bit left in you
02:12 and you can see the time thing
02:14 at that point, you're like, could we
02:16 come inside 2.52, so I think
02:18 we're just outside that
02:20 2.52, between 9.3 and 4.45
02:22 Yeah
02:24 Yeah, so we'll see what the
02:26 final chip time is at the end
02:28 So where are you actually based?
02:30 I'm based down, it's down
02:32 in Roxburn, I run the Cowoodian Running Club
02:34 so that's where I'm based just now
02:36 I'm 28
02:38 So hopefully
02:40 a few more marathons left in me still
02:42 So you've done this a few times
02:44 You obviously
02:46 It's my third Walknest marathon and then I think my
02:48 sixth marathon overall
02:50 Yeah, so
02:52 do you enjoy this course?
02:54 Yeah, it's good, it's nice
02:56 I forget how hilly it is until you start running
02:58 so your pace is all over the place
03:00 so it's hard to be like, I'm on track
03:02 I'm behind, because
03:04 one wee incline or dip
03:06 downhill can absolutely throw your pace off
03:08 but it's quite good
03:10 Now sort of know what's expecting
03:12 As long as you've got a little bit left in you for the door sill
03:14 you'll be alright-ish
03:16 What's your plan?
03:18 I'm going to do London again, so I'd like to do a good time
03:20 in April for that
03:22 So I'm 220
03:24 I'm 220 to the goal
03:26 so 2 minutes 4 seconds
03:28 to find it, or something like that
03:30 Congratulations
03:32 Thank you very much
