Melissah Gibson wins Loch Ness Marathon 2023
Transcript
00:00 And that's the winner of the second set,
00:02 the Conor McSwee backstretch,
00:04 and that's now the spotlight champion,
00:06 Ramos Troy from the Champs-Élysées.
00:10 Congratulations.
00:12 Thank you.
00:14 243-46 roughly. What's your PB?
00:16 I think it's 42 at the end,
00:18 so I just missed it, but I'm happy.
00:20 It's a season best.
00:22 Did you see the clock on your PB?
00:24 I did, but I really wanted under the 44, so it's good enough.
00:26 Well done, yeah.
00:28 So my mum's telling me this is your 90th marathon.
00:30 That's right.
00:32 It's taken me 12 years,
00:34 but I'm having a good run this year.
00:36 I think it's probably number 10 or 11.
00:38 This year, yeah. Wow, that's pretty prolific.
00:40 Yeah, and consistent.
00:42 It's my favourite thing to do.
00:44 Okay, so what was your most recent one before this?
00:46 I did Oslo two weeks ago,
00:48 and then Tallinn the week before that.
00:50 Oh, wow.
00:52 So it was good prep,
00:54 because they're both a little bit ghillie.
00:56 So it helped for this.
00:58 Okay, so how were your times there?
01:00 Slower, so 246 and 251.
01:02 Okay.
01:04 And which way round was that?
01:06 251 in Tallinn,
01:08 246 in Oslo.
01:10 I've got Chester next week,
01:12 so hopefully I can PB there.
01:14 Sorry, which one? Chester.
01:16 And then Yorkshire after that.
01:18 So there's always another chance.
01:20 You're crazy.
01:22 So tell us about today,
01:24 because it's your first time at Loch Ness.
01:26 It is. I've been here for years,
01:28 but it often places with Chester.
01:30 So this is a great year to get to them both.
01:32 Yeah, and what did you think of the course?
01:34 It was so well organised.
01:36 And it's just beautiful.
01:38 It's such a nice opportunity and a privilege
01:40 to run along the water,
01:42 and the volunteers were great.
01:44 Yeah, and what did you think of the course,
01:46 the downhill, uphill?
01:48 The downhill was tricky.
01:50 I thought I would be okay,
01:52 but when I put on my new shoes,
01:54 I felt a bit wobbly.
01:56 But then when it was mildly undulating,
01:58 I did okay.
02:00 And were you always leading?
02:02 I don't know how far ahead you are.
02:04 I was, but I had no idea.
02:06 And the girl who will probably come in second,
02:08 Rosa, she's really fast.
02:10 She beat me in Edinburgh,
02:12 so I kind of knew she'd be on my tail.
02:14 So I just had to do my best then.
02:16 Okay, well congratulations again.
02:18 Well done, and I hope everything goes well
02:20 I see you next year.
