00:00 Well, hi and welcome to another one of Wally's weekend drives.
00:06 Man, I'll tell you what, weather's finally breaking down cool.
00:10 Got a cool car, went cruising this week for about 600 miles.
00:14 Right here with my friend here, Jerry Vasquez.
00:16 We're up here at Larry H. Miller Toyota, talking about the 2023 Prius Prime.
00:22 Jerry, this thing, frankly, I'm really impressed.
00:26 What's the general public think of this so far?
00:28 Oh, everybody wants one.
00:30 I believe it.
00:31 I believe it.
00:32 You know, not only does it get great mileage, I'm getting about 54 miles per gallon around
00:35 town.
00:36 Made a 600 mile trip down to Tombstone and back, got 48 miles per gallon, and that was
00:41 running with traffic now on the I-10.
00:44 We know we go 80, 85 on there.
00:46 But when you look at the new Prius right here in general, what you see is a lot of aerodynamics.
00:52 This thing is like a wedge going down the road.
00:55 Now, the one thing about having the windshield laid down and the back window laid down that
00:59 flat, a little bit smaller room to look at, so you keep your eyes open because it might
01:03 not block anything, but you're not going to be like a wide panoramic view.
01:08 But if you look right here, what you're going to see, LED lights over the top here, bi-xeon
01:13 lights in here, so you got good headlights when you're going down the road.
01:17 And again, this is a plug-in hybrid.
01:19 So Jerry, with a plug-in, you generally get about 30 miles of electric to start with.
01:25 That's either accessible or you can save it, correct?
01:27 Correct.
01:28 Okay, so I got 38 on the way up here.
01:29 So Toyota's like overachieving.
01:32 I'm liking that for sure.
01:34 If we look right here, what you see is you got 19-inch alloy wheels, and you can see
01:38 the fit and the finish, the styling on Toyota, man, it leaves nothing to be desired.
01:44 It really doesn't.
01:45 Moving up here to the side, blind spot control here, so you see what's going on.
01:51 If you take a look inside here, Jerry, you're the tech guy.
01:56 Tell me a little bit about your tech in there.
01:57 So this one will have the new Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system, which incorporates a more
02:02 proactive driving assist.
02:04 What it'll do is that it's actually going to not only be a reactive system, it'll be
02:08 proactive in helping you drive in a safe way.
02:11 Yes.
02:12 Now, one thing that I noticed, and when you're sitting at the stoplight, just say you inch
02:16 forward just a little bit and there's cross-traffic ahead, it puts the brake on automatically,
02:21 thinking that you're taking off into traffic.
02:23 So it is very intuitive with that.
02:25 Also, I believe this has the parking feature in it, right?
02:28 Yes.
02:29 Tell me about that, because I haven't been brave enough to try it, frankly.
02:32 So they're doing it on the new Prius and also the new Crown.
02:35 It's basically going to allow you to park without having to touch the steering wheel
02:39 at all.
02:40 Wow.
02:41 The car will do it for you.
02:42 Okay, so in the old days, we used to have to parallel park and it was a big deal.
02:45 Now the car just does it yourself.
02:46 Absolutely.
02:47 Okay, so also, let's talk about the touchscreen inside there.
02:50 Yeah, what we've got there is a 12.3-inch infotainment screen.
02:55 Basically puts everything at your fingertips and it's touchscreen too.
02:58 So what do you think about that?
02:59 I love it, especially with the new wireless CarPlay that you have now, because it used
03:03 to be wired and now it's completely wireless.
03:05 That's right.
03:06 Also, speaking of wireless, the wireless charging, the phone slides right in the center console
03:10 sideways the way it should be.
03:12 Yes.
03:13 Easily accessible, easy to get to when a phone, if it calls or something, or if you're using
03:17 it for maps, you can see it on there too.
03:19 Let's take a quick look around back here, because not only is Prius known for its spaciousness
03:25 inside, like I said, this is also a plug-in hybrid.
03:29 So when you get in here and look, right here, you're going to see your plug-in hybrid.
03:34 So you take this, you plug it into your house, you go around to this side, right here, plug
03:43 it in like that, and voila, about six hours later, you've got another 38 miles to go
03:49 just on full electric.
03:52 One thing that we also like about that is the fact that it's only $42,659.
03:59 Now that's pretty good, and the styling, the handling is like second to none now, but if
04:06 you're not into hybrid, I understand Toyota just come out with that new electric vehicle,
04:10 right?
04:11 Yes.
04:12 Okay, tell me a little bit about that.
04:13 So that's going to be Toyota's first all-electric vehicle.
04:15 They're manufactured exclusively in Japan.
04:18 They do give you 222 mile range with the full charge, and you do have the ability to charge
04:24 it either at home with just the regular plug-in, or you can use a fast charge and it'll charge
04:28 it within like 30 minutes.
04:30 That's right.
04:31 So Toyota's stepping into the electric market in a big way here.
04:34 What was it called again?
04:35 The BZ4X.
04:36 The BZ4X.
04:37 So hey, if you're looking to, whether a hybrid, full-on electric, come on up here and see
04:42 Jerry.
04:43 Larry H. Miller Toyota on Bell Road, just west of the 101.
04:47 you want a Wall-E deal.
