00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:08 On Fridays we wear pink.
00:11 You can't see it, but I am wearing pink, you're just going to have to take my word
00:14 for it.
00:15 It's AEW's inaugural WrestleDream event this Sunday, and it's looking like a pretty
00:19 stacked old card.
00:20 In yesterday's WrestleTalk News episode, I spoke about how it was reported that Original
00:24 Plans called for a big non-AEW wrestler to challenge Jon Moxley after his match with
00:29 Rey Fenix, which got shelved after Mox's injury.
00:32 And with Zack Sabre Jr. and Will Ospreay on this card, it is looking, once again, stacked.
00:37 Big plans abound for WrestleDream it seems, and that could be set to continue.
00:41 While we may not have gotten the big plan for Moxley, there could be another surprise
00:45 lined up for the show.
00:46 According to PWInsider, Edge has now been taken off the miscellaneous part of WWE's
00:51 internal roster list, with the belief being that his contract officially expires tomorrow,
00:56 September 30th, which just so happens to be...one day before AEW's WrestleDream on Sunday,
01:04 which means Edge is completely available to appear at the show if he were going to.
01:08 While of course there hasn't been any hints directly of Edge appearing in AEW, it's
01:12 certainly been high in fan speculation, and it would no doubt be a highly regarded move
01:16 for fans if it were to happen.
01:18 One match that's had to be altered for WrestleDream is The Righteous taking on Better The New
01:22 Bay Bay for the Ring of Honor Tag Belts, because the Bay Bay part of the tag team isn't cleared
01:27 to wrestle.
01:28 It was announced on Dynamite that Adam Cole broke his ankle in three places and needs
01:31 surgery.
01:32 MJF will still be defending the belts by himself though, because he's a mad lad.
01:36 This announcement, combined with the final segment of Dynamite involving a masked attacker
01:39 using MJF's Devil Mask to attack Jey White, has led to many people questioning whether
01:43 Cole's injury is legitimate or a work.
01:46 Fightful Select has more details on it, as they're reporting that yes, Cole is legitimately
01:50 scheduled for surgery and is expected to be out for some time.
01:53 When he was seen backstage, his leg was wrapped, was using crutches, and needed assistance
01:57 travelling, so if for whatever reason he's not actually hurt and it's all a work, nobody
02:01 else is in on it.
02:03 Which means it's not a work, gang, so let's stop speculating about it.
02:07 Unless it is.
02:08 No.
02:09 No no.
02:10 It's not a work.
02:11 Not everything is a work.
02:12 Best wishes to Adam Cole, hope you get better soon, The New Bay Bay.
02:14 In other news, Matt Riddle, after being released from WWE one week ago, has now teased his
02:18 next move on social media, posting to ex-Riddle Posting what looks like a new logo of some
02:23 sort though of course there's no hint on what the next project actually is yet.
02:27 Riddle's release from WWE last week came after a fresh batch of WWE releases, with
02:31 reports noting that Riddle had burned through too many chances in the company.
02:35 Booker T has now spoken on Riddle's release too, saying that, "You can get away with
02:39 that kind of stuff only for so long.
02:41 It catches up with you because then you become a liability.
02:43 You don't want people in the news for negative reasons."
02:46 While Riddle's WWE release perhaps wasn't too much of a shocker within the company based
02:50 on Booker's comments, the same could not be said for one Mustafa Ali.
02:54 With the exception of Riddle, Ali has been the most visible release star in recent months,
02:58 being a featured part of the NXT brand since June.
03:01 What made this even more of a surprise was the fact that Ali was also just over a week
03:05 away from a marquee North American title shot against Dominik Mysterio at the No Mercy PLE
03:10 this Saturday.
03:11 I mean, why would those in NXT go to those lengths to build up someone who was on WWE's
03:14 chopping block, surely?
03:15 These things will be communicated ahead of time, right?
03:18 Of course not.
03:19 According to Fightful Select, as of Tuesday 19th September, there was no indication of
03:23 Ali being released or cuts to NXT talent with main roster deals for that matter.
03:28 This obviously made several people unhappy with Ali's release, particularly with the
03:32 lack of communication between those making the decisions in WWE and those in NXT.
03:37 This frustration was said to be due to WWE's recent pivot to include main roster names
03:41 such as Ali and Dana Brooke on NXT, only for them to be cut without warning.
03:45 At the No Mercy media call yesterday, Shawn Michaels was quizzed on the releases, noting
03:50 his surprise at the releases of Ali and Brooke, saying that he found out about Ali's release
03:54 right before he did.
03:56 Michaels continued to say, "I'd be lying to you if I said it didn't take us by surprise.
04:00 That's one thing I'm learning here is that main roster and NXT are totally separate
04:04 rosters.
04:05 I think the world of Mustafa.
04:06 Had a great working relationship with him in the time that he was here.
04:08 I will miss him."
04:10 Fightful Select learned that HBK had creative plans for Ali factored until March 2024, with
04:15 the Chicago native set to be on Tuesday night long term.
04:19 Speaking of Chicago, Ali was not the only free agent to be brought up in the media call,
04:23 and yes, ring the alarm, it's clobberin' time, baby!
04:27 While little is still known regarding the specifics of Punk's AEW termination and
04:30 what he can and cannot do at present, many, perhaps tentatively, believe he could wind
04:34 up back in WWE.
04:36 Gotta get around that whole Punk hating Triple H, Triple H hating Punk thing, right?
04:41 Well despite Tripp's and Punk's history together, what does The Game's DX Bro Chacho
04:44 for Life think of Phil and the potential of him returning to the company?
04:48 Asked whether he would welcome Punk to NXT if given the chance, Michaels replied, "Of
04:52 course we'd welcome him here in NXT.
04:54 My guess is he would probably want to go to the main roster.
04:57 I always enjoyed working with Phil."
04:58 Michaels recalled that Punk had even showed him a signed autograph from the showstopper
05:02 that he kept in his wallet, suggesting that Punk also held the Hall of Famer in high regard.
05:06 HBK continued to say that the similarities between himself and Punk probably aid his
05:10 positive opinion of him, believing that he would also do numbers and make money for WWE
05:15 if he did return.
05:16 However, he would admit that the decision to bring the cult of controversy back obviously
05:20 lies way above him.
05:21 "Obviously that's for people to decide higher up on the food chain than I am.
05:25 That would be a risk/reward ratio that from a company standpoint they'd have to consider.
05:29 When it comes to, 'would we have him in NXT and have him on our television?'
05:32 Are you kidding me?
05:33 Who wouldn't take that kind of star power?
05:34 I don't know.
05:35 If I get in trouble for that, I'll let you know."
05:37 CM Punk to NXT confirmed.
05:39 Do you, like most people, think that the WrestleTalk News presenters are the most attractive people
05:43 on planet Earth?
05:44 Do you, like some other people, think that the WrestleTalk presenters could be the most
05:48 attractive people on planet Earth, if only they could remove all of their facial features?
05:53 Well do we have the shirt for you.
05:55 It's our brand new WrestleTalk News Presenter Faces Shirt, complete with no facial features.

06:05 become the world's coolest person, with the world's coolest people, on your shirt.
06:10 While Punk to WWE confirmed may be just a pipe dream at this point, one AEW crossover
06:15 that is now in the books is of course Jade Cargill, who was announced as an official
06:18 WWE Superstar on Tuesday.
06:20 Despite us and many other fantasy booking Cargill's WWE debut on TV, her actual debut
06:25 on WWE's channels came strictly through the company's social media channels, with
06:29 images of her first day at the WWE Performance Center gaining massive attention.
06:33 So much so that WWE's post announcing Cargill's signing became the company's second most
06:37 viewed of the entire year at 14 million views.
06:41 This is behind only Jimmy Uso turning on Jey at Summerslam, which had a staggering 29.9
06:46 million, but impressively beat out moments such as Carlito's Backlash return and even
06:51 The Rock's recent shock appearance on SmackDown.
06:53 While Cargill's undoubtedly already been given the star treatment by the company, the
06:56 question still remains whether she will be treated as such on WWE TV.
07:00 Will she immediately be thrusted into the world title picture on Raw or SmackDown, or
07:04 instead made to start off on Tuesday night in NXT?
07:07 At the No Mercy media call, Shawn Michaels weighed in, heaping praise on Cargill calling
07:11 the former TBS Champion an "awesome specimen" with an "incredibly bright future".
07:15 On the potential of her joining up with him in NXT, Michaels said, "I'd be lying if
07:19 I didn't say that I wouldn't love to have her here in NXT, but wherever she ends up,
07:23 I have no doubt that she's going to have great success.
07:26 If she's here with us, it's going to be like it always is.
07:28 We're going to utilize her to the best of our ability, try to make it an enjoyable experience
07:32 for her."
07:33 Moving on to some former NXT talent now, and an update on the megastar LA Knight, yeah,
07:39 whose recent mega push hit a slight snag on last week's September 22nd SmackDown.
07:43 While reported by Fightful Select to feature in the main event segment involving John Cena
07:47 and The Bloodline, this never materialized with it later being revealed that Knight tested
07:50 positive for COVID-19, and was forced to leave the arena early.
07:54 This led to the seemingly planned tag team match at Fastlane of Cena and Knight against
07:58 Sola Sokoa and Jimbo Uso to be announced as a handicap match.
08:02 Despite this, Cena did recently hint at still finding help for his big PLE return match
08:06 responding to a fan dressed up as him on X saying, "I do need a tag team partner for
08:09 Fastlane."
08:11 And Cena's prayers may be answered as according to PWInsider, WWE sources have confirmed that
08:15 LA Knight is in fact set to return to tonight's SmackDown in Sacramento, CA, meaning in all
08:21 likelihood, Knight may be added to the Cena/Bloodline equation as soon as tonight.
08:25 While WWE were forced to enter some change plans on last week's SmackDown, how about
08:29 on the AEW side, as it's been reported that the company's Grand Slam injury crisis
08:33 played a role in some late changes on this week's Dynamite too.
08:36 Now it's been well documented, and I even mentioned it earlier on this episode, that
08:39 John Moxley's international title defense against Rey Fenix did not go to plan, with
08:42 Mox legitimately concussed early on, leading to an unplanned finish that saw Fenix capture
08:46 the title.
08:47 What was less reported on however, was that Fenix was also hurt in the exact same dive
08:52 spot that concussed Mox according to PWTorch.
08:55 This led to uncertainty regarding Fenix being cleared to compete at Dynamite, which he of
08:59 course did, defending his title against Jeff Jarrett.
09:02 However, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this didn't come till late
09:06 in the afternoon on Wednesday.
09:07 Meltzer revealed, "Fenix was not cleared, or I should say, it was up in the air if he
09:12 would be cleared.
09:13 He had not been cleared.
09:15 So they had apparently put together a show without him, and then they had to change it
09:18 to put the match with Jarrett on, which was basically a late addition to the show."
09:22 It was also revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Nick Jackson, who later won a number
09:26 one contender three-way for the International Championship, was also seemingly affected
09:30 by this.
09:31 Jackson reportedly turned up to Dynamite with no gear, because he didn't know he was going
09:35 to wrestle, with an outfit having to be pieced together on the night.
