00:00 How about yourself? I'm doing good. We are your undrafted rookie free agents and today we're
00:06 going to be talking about the Miami Heat and things going on around the NBA, WNBA, and NFL
00:13 world today. So let's just get right into it. Yep, jumping straight into things with the Heat.
00:18 As usual, Damian Lillard stays on everybody's mind, right? And as we're approaching training
00:25 camp, things are starting to pick up in discussions it seems like. But not just with the Heat,
00:31 also the Raptors and Bulls have been reported to be showing some interest in Lillard. How do you
00:37 think he would fit in those organizations if he did decide to open up his willingness to play with
00:42 other teams? And I mean, what would their package look like? For the Raptors, I mean, you'd have to
00:49 imagine they send Pascal Siakam, even though he's not a guard like Damian Lillard, they have to get
00:56 a significant player for him. So him, maybe package Gary Trent Jr. and a few picks,
01:06 maybe throw in Scottie Barnes. So that's what I think Toronto's would look like. Chicago,
01:13 I mean, they'd have to give up. You'd think Zach Levine, probably and Amar DeRozan,
01:19 which sounds crazy. But again, it's Damian Lillard. And you see the way that, you know,
01:25 Portland, you see the amount they want for him from the Heat. So you'd imagine that they'd want
01:32 a significant amount from any other team. So having both of them is not out of the picture.
01:37 Now, would Chicago agree on that? Probably not. But that's probably what Portland would ask for.
01:43 Absolutely. And I really don't think it makes any sense for either of those teams to go after
01:48 Lillard. I mean, look at a team like Toronto all offseason. They've been talking about trading
01:52 Siakam as is and, you know, starting kind of a fresh start with Scottie Barnes as your main guy.
02:00 So I don't really think it makes much sense to bring in a aging guy like Lillard to make one
02:06 final playoff push. And then as far as Chicago goes, I mean, if you have to give up Amar DeRozan
02:12 and Zach Levine, what's the point in making the trade in the first place? You're going to be
02:17 stuck over there with Lillard and Vucevic as your top two guys. And obviously that's not going to
02:23 work out. Right. Definitely. But to the point of other teams getting involved, like I just feel
02:31 like this was inevitable just because the Heat are taking so long to get him. Like you'd have to
02:36 think other teams are like, all right, well, if they can't get them, let me throw in, you know,
02:41 my let me throw my head into the ring and try and, you know, put a trade package together to see if I
02:46 can, you know, get Lillard. Yeah, definitely. And I think, you know, one final team that has
02:52 maybe not reported interest, but I think it was a Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix was talking
02:57 about potentially if the Oklahoma City Thunder are playing well this season and Lillard isn't
03:03 traded before the season starts. I think he said he could see them making a real push for Lillard.
03:08 Is that something you foresee? I think the Thunder, I think where they're at right now with
03:14 all their picks and the way they've developed players like Shea Gildas, Alexander and Josh
03:20 Giddey, I think they're on the right track. I don't think they need to trade for a big player
03:24 like Lillard. But then again, maybe that, you know, that's the benefit of having so many picks
03:29 and so many young players that you can be able to push for a big superstar. So
03:35 that wouldn't be ideal, in my opinion, but I could see it happening. Yeah, I think even in two years
03:43 time, they could go out and make a push for Giannis if he decides he wants out of Milwaukee.
03:47 Right. I remember you talking about that a couple of episodes earlier.
03:51 Yeah. And, you know, following up with these other teams showing interest in Lillard,
03:57 earlier today it was reported that the offers Portland's front office is receiving from these
04:03 other teams, and maybe it's not Toronto or Chicago, but a team like the Knicks or the Magic,
04:10 whoever it may be. Apparently, these offers are even worse than the Heats offer, which, you know,
04:15 I think is a little disrespectful to Lillard's value. But I mean, what do you foresee the Heat
04:23 giving up? I mean, you'd have to think they trade Hero to a third team. They get, I'd say, like,
04:31 maybe two first round picks and maybe like a role player. And they take that package and put together
04:39 Caleb Martin, Kyle Lowry, and probably a couple more other draft picks.
04:44 And then obviously, either Jaime Hawkins or Nikola Jovic.
04:49 Those two, I think one of them is going to have to be involved that minimum,
04:55 but I'm sure the Blazers are going to try and squeeze both of them out of the Heat.
04:58 And, you know, jumping forward, Brian Winhurst earlier this week, I believe, was talking about,
05:06 you know, the Blazers, like I was saying, trying to squeeze every last asset out of Miami. And
05:13 from Miami's perspective, if you want to go out and get Lillard, that's totally understandable
05:18 because you want to form that big three with Lillard, Butler, and Adebayo. But at what cost
05:24 is it worth giving up? Right, I completely agree with you. And it's the fact that they did make
05:30 the finals. So it's like you're taking, I mean, obviously, you know, players like Duncan Robinson
05:37 and Kyle Lowry didn't get you to the finals, but they contributed. And so if you're giving up so
05:43 much that you take away the pieces that got you there, it's kind of like, what's the point of
05:48 the trade? Yeah, Miami's always thrived off of those deep teams. And by acquiring Lillard,
05:56 like Brian Winhurst was saying, it might be a point where it's not worth it. And then you put
06:02 Portland in a really tough spot where you have a guy that wants to go to the Heat. But at the
06:07 same time, the Heat don't want him at the point of the Blazers asking price. Right. No, I completely
06:13 agree. And, you know, now jumping around the rest of the league, it's the dust has kind of settled
06:21 in this situation now. But Kevin Porter Jr., you know, there's been a lot of controversy around him
06:27 the last week or two. I wouldn't expect to see him in the NBA ever again. But what's your take
06:34 on the situation? No, I mean, like you said, the NBA is much more strict in the NFL in terms of
06:40 their suspension and player punishment. So I would not be surprised if we don't hear, you know, a lot
06:47 from him. But Miles Bridges was recently seen in a Hornets jersey. So you never know what,
06:54 you know, what can happen. Yeah. And I saw one thing going around of the idea of another trade,
07:02 another team, excuse me, trading for Kevin Porter Jr. And even if they have no plans to keep him on
07:08 the roster, it's it's that media attention that you're bringing to your organization.
07:14 That's just going to be such a negative impact that I think it's going to get to a point where
07:18 they're just forced to cut them. Yeah, I completely agree. And I just don't see what
07:23 team would trade for him. Yeah, no team wants that in their locker room. It's that
07:28 part of the organization. Right. And as much as it as crazy as it is to say, you know, if this were,
07:34 you know, a budding superstar, maybe, but not a young guy who hasn't really proved a ton in the
07:42 NBA yet. And transitioning over to the WNBA, the semifinals are coming up. So just doing a little
07:50 preview on those. We have the Wings versus the Aces and the Liberty versus the Suns. What do
07:57 you expect to come of those matchups? Who are you taking? So right now I have the Aces and the
08:02 Liberty. That's kind of the matchup that everyone was anticipating all year. Aces, Wings, I like
08:10 Enrique Ngubowale. I like Sattel. I can never know. I never know how to pronounce her last name.
08:17 Sabali or something like that. Yeah. Yeah. OK. I think they're good, just not good enough.
08:28 You got Asia Wilson, who's unstoppable. Then you have Kelsey Plume. You have Chelsea Gray.
08:34 You have Jackie Young, who are all all-star, all-star caliber players. So I think that's
08:42 pretty, I think that's going to swing in Las Vegas' favor very easily. Sun and Liberty,
08:49 that's actually a decent matchup. I'm still going to lean towards New York
08:53 just because Breonna Stewart is, in my opinion, the MVP this season. And then John Quayle Jones
09:00 is played better than you got Benaji Laney. Sabrina Ionescu, if she can be consistent,
09:05 that'll be really good. And then Courtney Van Der Sluijf, she can continue to be a facilitator
09:11 and then contribute 13, 14 points a game. I think they'll come out on top.
09:16 And if I'm not mistaken, I believe it was Sabrina a few days ago took a shot at some of the other
09:23 New York basketball teams. She said something like this is the best New York basketball in
09:29 a long time, I believe. Right. You know, I think that's a little disrespectful to land.
09:34 Right. I mean, she kind of has a point like in terms of this year, but historically,
09:41 absolutely. Oh, yeah, absolutely not. Easily the next. But yeah.
09:46 And then, you know, finally moving out of the NBA over to the NFL, Miami Dolphins took home the win
09:54 in week two over the Patriots, went into Gillette Stadium, you know, got the win 24 to 17. What are
10:00 a few takeaways you have from that game? Yeah, well, first, I got to mention they took a win
10:04 over your Patriots. So I got to rub that in your face a little bit. Yeah, didn't look as explosive
10:13 as they did week one, but they're facing a harder defense. So I anticipated it was going to be a
10:18 little bit of a lower scoring game. Raheem Mostert looked pretty good. Tyreek didn't look as good.
10:24 But, you know, again, they're facing a more difficult secondary. They're not playing,
10:30 you know, J.C. Jackson. So, yeah, I mean, Tua still looks good. Other than that,
10:37 under throw on Tyreek Hill that led to an interception. I still believe as of right now,
10:43 he's probably a top two quarterback in the league because Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow still don't
10:49 look that great. So, yeah, I have very high expectations for Miami. Obviously, if Tua can
10:57 stay healthy, if they can stay consistent, because I remember last year they won three games and lost
11:03 three games. They won five games. They lost five games. And like that's just like very streaky.
11:11 So, yeah, if they can maintain that, I have them coming out of the AFC as a on top.
11:16 Tyreek Yeah, and touching on that last point about last season, their streakiness, I mean,
11:22 most of that had to do with Tua's health and all the concussions he went through. And I mean,
11:28 everybody's seen that play in preseason where he kind of fell back like on his back instead of his
11:33 head. So hopefully that's something he's been working on a lot this offseason to prevent those
11:38 injuries. Right. You know, taking a little more in depth look at the box score, you were saying
11:44 Raheem Mostard had a nice game, 18 carries, 121 yards for two touchdowns. And I think that's
11:51 something that we didn't see as much with the Dolphins last year, they were super reliant
11:56 on Hill and Waddle to go out there and get 250 plus yards a game between the two of them. And now
12:03 they're a little more lenient on the run game. Tyreek Right. And I think that's definitely going
12:08 to help them. It's going to alleviate some pressure off Tua. So I like seeing them incorporate the run
12:14 game a little bit more. Raheem And then, you know, I got I got to talk about my Patriots for a second.
12:19 Mac Jones, man. I mean, week one against the Eagles, he came out and he looked like a different
12:25 quarterback. I thought he played very well in week one for his standards. And then, you know,
12:30 he comes out in week two and he's just he's just not making the right plays. Sometimes he's looking
12:37 over the middle, he's forcing things on third down. You know, I really think the Patriots have
12:42 a very good defensive unit and it's just let down by the offense. Tyreek No, I completely agree.
12:49 As a Steelers fan, I can completely relate to having like a heavily defensive team with a
12:54 terrible offense. And Mac Jones, I really thought after week one, I'm like, OK, well, here he comes.
13:00 Maybe, you know, he'll redeem himself after last season, but we're just going to have to see.
13:05 Raheem Yeah. And I think the Dolphins
13:09 will come out of the AFC East like you were saying, especially after Rodgers goes down. I was
13:15 pretty high on the Jets with Rodgers, but, you know, Zach Wilson under center isn't exactly the
13:19 best look. Right. What do you think about the Bills, though? You think I have them in the mix
13:28 with the Dolphins, but like I just can't trust Josh Allen that much. Well, you know, I'm curious
13:33 when you said to it looks like the second best quarterback in the NFL right now, who's your
13:37 number one? Um, I have to take a look at my my QB ratings, probably like I know this is crazy to say,
13:46 but maybe like Justin Herbert, just because like as of right now, I can't put Patrick Mahomes. I
13:52 can't put Joe Burrow. Lamar Jackson look better this week than he did, you know, after week one.
13:58 But, uh, yeah. So, yeah, I'd probably put to a one or two, probably probably one over Herbert.
14:05 Zach Yeah, but jumping back to your question to me about the Bills,
14:08 I agree. I think they're going to be right there with the Dolphins. I mean, I would it's going to
14:14 be a toss up. It's really going to come down to those divisional matchups and who can come out of
14:18 there with those. And, you know, you have two quarterbacks that are essentially exact opposites.
14:23 You got two on one hand who's known for his accuracy and his underthrowing. And then you
14:28 got Josh Allen, who's got maybe the best arm in the league and tends to overthrow guys for
14:33 interceptions. Right. Or just make like careless turnovers. Absolutely. I'm not sure what weeks
14:42 they play, but those matchups will end up determining that division. Definitely. I would
14:46 agree with you. Well, that wraps up episode two, unless you have anything else to say here.
14:53 Jay No, that's it for me. Thank you guys for tuning in again. My name is Jay Narmont. I'm
14:59 here with Anthony Pasciola. Pasciola. Pasciola. All right. I'm gonna get it one day. All right.
