00:03 - Let's move over to Fanatic,
00:04 a company that's trying to kind of work their way
00:08 into the sports betting stratosphere here in 23 and 24.
00:11 I found the story that you guys had
00:13 on Legal Sports Report very compelling
00:15 and I wanna learn more.
00:16 What's going on here?
00:17 Fanatics is able to stream NFL games through their app.
00:21 How does this work?
00:23 - Yeah, so it's part of a deal that they have
00:27 with Genius Sports, which is the provider
00:32 of official league data for the NFL.
00:36 If you recall, Caesar's app did this last season.
00:41 No official announcement from Fanatics on this,
00:46 but obviously Sam Quillen over at Legal Sports Report
00:51 wrote the story and had some pretty solid intel
00:54 that they are in fact streaming games
00:58 through the Fanatics Sportsbook app
01:01 in Massachusetts, Maryland, Ohio, and Tennessee,
01:05 where they operate under that Fanatics Sportsbook brand.
01:10 Now, of course, Fanatics bought out
01:16 the US assets of PointsBet.
01:18 So as these PointsBet app starts to become more popular
01:23 and starts to make that transition over,
01:25 it's important to mention that if you're in a state
01:29 where it's the PointsBet by Fanatics experience,
01:34 those apps are not streaming these NFL games.
01:39 So like Sam mentioned in the article,
01:43 you have to place a wager, at least a dollar,
01:46 on one of the NFL games and it needs to be airing
01:50 in your local market.
01:53 So if it's a local team or one of the prime time games,
01:57 you'll be able to stream that game right in the app.
02:00 And of course, this is a big part of the tech conversation
02:05 when it comes to sports betting,
02:07 the immediacy, right?
02:09 How quickly can we live bet a game?
02:12 What's the latency between the online feed
02:14 coming through the app or over the TV?
02:17 So certainly something interesting to keep an eye on
02:20 as we move forward and see how this expands.
02:24 It's likely that DraftKings and FanDuel
02:27 are working on doing the same thing
02:31 or at least something similar.
02:33 So more content in the hands of sports bettors
02:38 and we're starting to see those trends from the tech side
02:42 and from the live betting capability.
02:45 So something that we'll be watching
02:48 over at LegalSportSupport
02:50 and hopefully we get some more information on this
02:54 in the coming weeks and months.
