00:00 >> Bryce, I know it's tough being on too, but do you think with that last touchdown
00:03 drive, the momentum could help you go into next week for next week's game?
00:08 >> I mean, you try to build on positive things, but
00:11 it's not gonna carry over for any points on Sunday.
00:16 So just like any week, there's good and bad.
00:20 You wanna obviously correct the bad, get that cleaned up, and
00:23 then there's positive stuff that we can look at and try to continue to build off of.
00:28 So I think it's more just trying to, the things that did go well,
00:34 went well on the positive plays, how can we be more consistent on those?
00:39 But we don't need any points next week for anything that we did so.
00:43 >> Bryce, can you explain the ability of what, God,
00:46 almost two full games without allowing a touchdown, what makes this defense a tough
00:51 defense?
00:52 >> Yeah, really good group, really, really, guys who you can tell are very
00:57 good, so understanding the defense, they play together, they play hard, very physical.
01:02 Again, just know exactly where they're supposed to be, they play together.
01:06 So obviously, we didn't do enough offensively.
01:11 They did a good job, they did a great job.
01:14 So they did a good job, it's a really good defense.
01:17 So for us, that's not an excuse.
01:20 They've been really good, and we knew that coming in,
01:23 that wasn't a surprise or anything.
01:24 We knew they were a good defense, but still, we have to do a better job of executing.
01:28 But obviously, defensively, they definitely got the best of us, so
01:32 all the credit goes to them.
01:34 >> How do you explain the ability that they've played the last two weeks?
01:38 >> Yeah, that's just on me making sure that I have points there,
01:41 I take advantage of it.
01:42 Hitting throws, in the mix, obviously, I have to do a better job of that.
01:49 There's stuff with down the field stuff that gets called that maybe I don't get
01:55 all the way through it, or as far as just whatever it may be, but it's on me.
02:00 Again, we're putting in places to execute as a unit,
02:04 we need to do a better job, and that's for us to do, so that's great.
02:08 >> Bryce, you've been under a lot of pressure from the defense the first two
02:11 games, how do you feel like you've responded to that?
02:16 >> Excuse me, can you- >> The pass rush has been really strong,
02:19 put you under a lot of pressure, how have you responded?
02:22 >> Honestly, I think our line's done a great job.
02:25 It's people, when you get in known rushes situations,
02:29 and we've run against some really good rushes,
02:34 and there's a lot of good defensive schemes, and you get in known passes.
02:38 It's tough, but still, I think they've done a great job, especially,
02:42 they did a great job with base down, stare down, I think they've done a really good
02:44 job, and then it gets caught hard in very known passing situations.
02:49 So I think, again, that's the thing,
02:50 there's always this, you're not gonna go a full game with a hundred chain clean
02:54 pocket, those guys get paid well to run that in, but
02:56 I have a tremendous amount of faith in them, and I think they've done a great job.
03:00 I think, again, I think it really, just the way they go out and
03:05 they fight and they battle, and they battle today, it really means a lot to me.
03:09 So I think they've done a great job, and I look forward to working with them.
03:13 >> Bryce, we saw the entire sideline, kind of clear when Shaq went down,
03:17 I'm just wondering if you said anything to him, and if he said anything to you guys?
03:22 >> Even though he's still with us, still being, Shaq's a leader for us.
03:28 He's not, obviously, he's a great player,
03:32 obviously does a lot on the field, but he does a lot more too for
03:38 us on just being a leader in the locker room.
03:41 Just all that he does, when we see that, especially with a guy like Shaq,
03:46 that really hurts, and we all hate to see it.
03:49 So we all, again, that's our brother, so that means a lot to us as a team.
03:56 So we're all very, very friendly.
03:59 >> Bryce, Shaq was made of your size, obviously, from the draft.
04:02 So how do you think that's translated so far?
04:06 >> I don't think my, I think, again, I don't know what it's like to be tall,
04:11 to be honest with you.
04:12 So it's been the same, I think there's a lot of things I can improve on,
04:16 so I think I can get better at.
04:18 Obviously, we have to do a better job, we all do, so we have to do a better job.
04:23 But again, I think that's, there's a lot of things I'm gonna work back on and
04:28 try to be better at.
04:29 We all learn, look at who we're gonna grow, but
04:32 I think I've grown, I really wanna know what it's like to be tall,
04:37 so I can't compare it to something else.
04:40 >> All right, so there are things you look at in terms of communication,
04:41 maybe early downs.
04:43 Is there communication issues that are causing some of the penalties or
04:46 late clock rundowns?
04:47 You've seen some of those from last week, but how hard is it as an offense to
04:51 operate second to nine, second to 12, second to 13 like you did today?
04:55 >> Yeah, obviously not ideal when you're behind the stakes.
04:59 But I think, first and foremost, I think I have to do a better job of
05:04 orchestrating all that, being in command, making sure we're at the line of
05:08 experience with enough time to go, making sure that we're on the same page.
05:14 If there's something that isn't okay, well, making sure that I go over there and
05:17 make sure we're on the same page and make things correct.
05:20 So at the end of the day, that's all I'm gonna make sure the operation's smoother.
05:24 >> Bryce, what did change on that drive when y'all were able to make it to
05:27 the end zone compared to the rest of the game?
05:30 >> Just execution, we were able to execute that drive.
05:35 But obviously, it was too little, too late.
05:39 But I think it was just being able to pull it together and execute.
05:42 A lot of times we were one thing away,
05:45 I missed throws that should have kept the space moving, whatever it may be.
05:50 But it was just execution.
05:52 I think we're in good spots to be successful.
05:57 And we just need to make enough plays to win and that starts to win.
06:01 >> Did this high end get involved more?
06:04 >> That's not a me call.
06:10 Again, there's stuff that we have designed.
06:13 We have stuff going in, but again, Coach Wright and all the offensive coaches,
06:17 again, they've done a great job consistently in putting us in situations to succeed.
06:22 And we have to do a great job of executing,
06:24 we have to do a great job of building that execution.
06:26 So I definitely trust them with our plan to move forward.
06:30 >> On the fumble, Bryce in the red zone, did you ever see that guy?
06:36 >> Yeah, I'm doing a better job of making sure I'm secure with the ball.
06:40 No one didn't see him, but when you're out in the pocket,
06:44 most of the time it's the guy you don't see.
06:46 I do a better job of being aware that I'm putting the ball away.
06:50 So obviously, when the coach gets turned over, especially when you end up losing,
06:55 you end up losing by the paper, and we're aware of that.
06:58 So obviously, stuff like that can happen.
06:59 >> You always- >> ASPN, and then we do ASPN,
07:01 and we'll get you next time.
07:03 >> Thank you.
07:03 >> Bryce, it feels like you're getting a lot of things right.
07:08 How far away do you feel from the ball, actually?
07:13 >> I think there's stuff that has gone well that we can build off of.
07:18 Obviously, we're not where we need to be right now.
07:20 But there's no loss of confidence, no loss of faith in the locker room.
07:25 I'm grateful to be a part of this team.
07:26 I believe in the team, and the coaching staff.
07:28 I feel like we have what it takes, and we always have to execute and
07:30 do a great job of putting it together.
07:33 But ultimately, we have to go out and prove that.
07:35 So I'm confident.
07:37 I have faith in the team and this whole building.
07:43 And again, we still have to earn the right to go and prove that to the world.
07:46 So I'm excited for that job.
07:49 >> Last one from the back, Doc.
07:50 >> You always take a lot of ownership in these press conferences and
07:53 say that you have to be better, you have to do better with execution.
07:57 What does that look like for you on the field, per se?
08:00 And then how do you process that,
08:02 even when you're in a team environment taking on all of that, I guess,
08:06 responsibility?
08:09 >> Yeah, just making sure that I'm intentional with all the different things.
08:13 Throughout the week, I'm intentional in my process, intentional in improving
08:17 the workings that I want to get done specifically, intentional in learning.
08:22 And making sure that I'm able to not just see something, but
08:26 make sure that I can grow from it.
08:28 And I think it's just a lot about being intentional with that stuff.
08:32 And again, the great thing about the locker room is I'm not the only one who
08:36 takes account of it, I'm not the only one who feels like this.
08:38 I think we all talk about it, we all wanna look in the mirror.
08:42 We all have beliefs, we all believe in each other, but
08:44 we all, there's no point in fingers.
08:46 We all wanna look in the mirror.
08:48 We all feel like we can be better.
08:49 And again, I know that's a fact for me, and it's stuff that I wish I was,
08:53 I want that, and I have to grow from it to improve that.
08:56 But I'm grateful to be in a locker room where we all share that feeling,
09:00 share that belief, so I'm very grateful.
09:03 >> All right, thank you very much.
