00:00 Hello everybody, Scott Callen here on allpanthers.com.
00:03 The Carolina Panthers fall to the New Orleans stage 20 to 17 here on Monday
00:06 night football.
00:08 It was a weird game for Carolina's offense.
00:10 I just couldn't get anything going on the ground,
00:12 which then leaned into the passing game,
00:15 which Bryce Young went 22 of 33 for 153 yards.
00:19 Much of that coming on that final drive of the game, where he ended up throwing
00:22 a touchdown pass to Adam Thielen, got the two point conversion.
00:25 Went eight of ten for 61 yards on that drive.
00:28 But the big notes from this one, Shaq Thompson, linebacker,
00:31 left the game, was carted off the field with an ankle injury.
00:34 And Frank Reich, the head coach, said that this is something that they expect
00:38 that could linger a few weeks.
00:40 May mean an extent on IR, we'll have to see about that.
00:43 But this is a tough week for Carolina.
00:45 It seemed like they kind of took a step back offensively after what was already
00:50 a pretty bad start to the season down in Atlanta.
00:54 But you have to like what you saw from the defense,
00:57 despite Shaq Thompson leaving the field.
00:59 They still got to the quarterback, Derek Carr, four sacks, six QB hits,
01:03 six tackles for loss.
01:04 And Von Bell coming up with his first interception of the season against
01:08 his former team.
01:08 So there were some positive notes, Frankie Louvue getting to the quarterback
01:12 a few times, making some plays in the backfield.
01:14 So there are positives about this team, mainly on the defensive side.
01:19 But heading into week three here,
01:20 a short week as they get ready to turn around to head to Seattle here on Sunday.
01:24 They've got to figure out some resemblance of a passing game downfield.
01:28 Last week, Bryce Young completed his passes at a 3.8 yard clip.
01:32 This week, 4.6.
01:34 So they've got to stretch the field, get more vertical, make some more explosive
01:38 plays for this offense to start really ticking and
01:41 to really keep them in the game a little bit longer.
01:44 So that's it for us here today.
