Sheffield Wednesday beaten by Ipswich Town - Joe Crann's response
Transcript
00:00 Sheffield Wednesday's winless run in the Championship continues.
00:03 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town tonight and it could have been more.
00:07 Devis Vasquez, the top performer for Sheffield Wednesday, made a handful of really, really good saves.
00:11 One in particular from Harry Clark that was excellent.
00:14 I got to speak to him a little bit after the game.
00:16 We'll be putting some of that up on the website and on social media soon.
00:19 Yeah, just a really tough afternoon for Sheffield Wednesday.
00:24 Ipswich look like a team that are confident, that are buoyed by everything that happened last season.
00:29 And even though Wednesday and them went up together,
00:33 they couldn't be more different the way they're playing at the moment.
00:35 Wednesday are still very much in a state of flux.
00:39 They don't really seem to know a lot about how they're playing.
00:42 We spoke to the manager afterwards.
00:45 Chisco was very apologetic to the fans about the performance, especially in the first half.
00:49 He said he did think they improved in the second, which I agree they were better in the second half,
00:54 but it's the lack of creation that I think is the concern.
01:01 They brought the possession up, Wednesday brought the possession up in the second half.
01:04 They had a little bit more of the ball, but they still didn't really do much with it.
01:08 There's a couple of dangerous balls into the box, one in a few corners,
01:10 but like I say, just did nothing to really get any hopes up from a Wednesday fan perspective.
01:18 It did feel a little bit unhappy today.
01:22 We've heard the boos before this season, that's nothing new.
01:26 There was chants about the chairman, there was a problem with the banner that was up on the Kop.
01:30 That was defaced and then taken down before the game.
01:33 So, yes, Wednesday are not in a good place at the moment.
01:36 It feels like they've gone a long way from Peterborough and that second leg here, not that long ago.
01:44 Wednesday are now in a situation where they need to try and pick up results,
01:47 and obviously this coming game is huge for that.
01:50 Peterborough are the only team in the Championship currently below Sheffield Wednesday.
01:54 They're in a really bad run of form themselves.
01:57 At home, it's the sort of game that Wednesday should be looking at to try and get something from.
02:01 So, we'll wait and see on that.
02:03 We've got loads of stuff coming from the manager, like I said, some from Devis Vasquez.
02:06 That'll be on the website in the next couple of, well, today and over the weekend as well.
02:12 Just a little bit of injury news, Barry Bannon, he's missing.
02:17 They might be able to have him back for Tuesday.
02:19 They're not entirely sure about that.
02:21 Will Valks also missed out due to injury, as well as Bambo Diaby.
02:26 Dominic Orford went off.
02:27 They're not entirely sure what the situation is with him yet, so they'll have to wait and see on that.
02:31 But with Bambo, with Will and with Barry, there's a chance, according to the manager,
02:36 that they could be available for Tuesday night, so we'll have to wait and see.
02:40 That's it for tonight from me.
02:41 Like I say, we'll have some more stuff on the website, so head over to thestar.co.uk,
02:45 and I'll speak to you soon.
