00:14 My name is Anisha Praveen, you can just call me Anisha.
00:17 I was born in Kuching, I was raised mostly in Miri, Sarawak.
00:21 So I joined Shell and Explorers when I was in Form 1, so that was in 2017.
00:28 You know, my school offered the program to like 15 students in my batch, and I grabbed
00:33 that opportunity.
00:35 In NXplorers, we had a couple of competitions at first, and I remember my first competition
00:40 with two of my teammates.
00:41 It opened our eyes to like a whole new world that we've never seen before.
00:47 And in the beginning, we created a project which I don't think solved anyone's problems,
00:53 but it was the experience that mattered.
00:55 Like that was the stepping stone to everything that I've achieved in NXplorers.
00:59 So the next year we built a project that actually mattered, and it made us happy having, you
01:05 know, that opportunity to create a project that actually solved a real issue.
01:11 In our final year, our third year, that's when all of those is what led to us creating
01:16 the project that eventually won Shell NXplorers in 2020.
01:22 So Chillax, it started off as like a project to curb wildfires in Australia, but then we
01:27 thought, why don't we bring it to a more close to home kind of place?
01:32 So we thought about rural areas in Miri itself, places which like did not have a good cooling
01:39 system, right?
01:40 We made an automated sprinkler system that would be installed on roofs of these kinds
01:46 of houses.
01:47 We wanted everything to be renewable, and that's what we were able to achieve with Chillax,
01:51 and I'm forever proud of that project.
01:53 Welcome to Shell NXplorers Malaysia 2022 National Grand Final 7.
02:03 My name is Fauzi Masrom.
02:06 I'm actually here in Shell as the process control domain and field telecoms functional
02:11 excellent.
02:12 We was back in 2019 and had the opportunity to mentor a varsity challenge, which is called
02:18 Shell Selamat Sampai.
02:19 The opportunity then ran across to the Shell Eco-marathon, and then it was an opportunity
02:26 where I found the Shell NXplorer, where I can actually explore further into being passionate
02:32 in mentoring.
02:33 It comes a bit of like fulfillment in my life, because I believe that by mentoring, I can
02:39 be passionate in terms of giving in part of what I have experienced and enjoyed.
02:45 One thing when I mentor is that I never discount anything from what the students are bringing
02:52 in.
02:53 That shows their creativity, but that creativity harness both arts and as well as the science,
03:00 because we in Shell NXplorer not only look into the STEM studies, but also the analytic
03:06 thinking, critical thinking, and design thinking.
03:10 Definitely by them bringing into the table their creativity, that will spur on their
03:16 knowledge in terms of STEM.
03:18 So this is where I came in to actually harness that furthermore, and purposely challenging
03:24 them what they could bring forward, what they could actually showcase to the world, their
03:29 skills.
03:30 Shell NXplorer is an opportunity for us, as Shell staff, to bring forward what we know
03:38 and experience as a worker, what we deal in our day-to-day work.
03:44 The opportunity that we have to expand it across to school children is massive.
03:49 Shell NXplorer gives value add to schools, students, to really harness their potential
03:56 in terms of learning STEM, and an opportunity for them to move forward and hopefully become
04:02 the young leaders of tomorrow today.
04:04 You know, these Shell mentors, aside from giving us feedback and stuff, they've been
04:08 amazing role models to me as well.
04:10 I ended up volunteering with them my semester break, and I went to schools that are now
04:17 doing NXplorers in Mary.
04:19 It was a very heartfelt moment.
04:21 I remember I walked into one of the schools this one time, and then this one student just
04:27 went, "Aneesha, can you teach me again how a relay works?"
04:30 And I was immediately so touched, I was like, "Wow, I'm able to actually help these students
04:35 do something."
04:36 Honestly, I did not imagine that I would ever get a scholarship.
04:41 I think it was all about the core skills that I learned from it.
04:45 So teamwork, the perseverance that I picked up from having projects constantly fail.
04:50 Gathering my motivation to continue to make that project work eventually, that's what
04:57 led me to become the person that I am today.
05:00 I don't know what Shell saw in me, honestly, when they picked me, but I think that's what
05:04 they saw in me.
05:05 I think it was these core values that NXplorers taught me.
05:09 You know, I'm just really excited that I was given the opportunity to be an NXplorer back
05:15 when I was in high school.
