Birmingham headlines 1 September: Three arrested after police car rammed in Erdington

Three people were arrested after a police car was rammed on Abbotts Road in Erdington on Thursday at 2am. Police were called following reports of people acting suspiciously. Three men were arrested on suspicion of having a bladed weapon in a public place.

West Midlands Police have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist was found lying in the road in Rubery on Wednesday. Paramedics spotted the 76-year-old on New Street at the junction of Arden Road. He suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Home Office records show that the number of complaint allegations made against officers at West Midlands Police rose by 382% within a year. The news comes after two West Midlands Police officers were found guilty of misconduct in public office earlier this summer.
