It's going to be a summer like no other here in Brum Town. Some of the biggest acts are coming here to the Utilita Arena on the canalside - our main focus today - as well as across the countless festivals peppered across the city which are well worthy of the spotlight.
Transcript
00:00 We'll start right here at the Utilita Arena.
00:05 This summer see some incredible acts hitting the stage at this inner city icon.
00:10 First up is the legendary rock band Heart, with nearly 5 decades of performances behind
00:15 them, they're here in the UK as part of their Royal Flush Tour.
00:20 It's set to be a night of nostalgic gems, they'll be playing on the 3rd of July.
00:25 Then on the 16th, WAP star Megha the Stallion will be playing as part of her Hot Girl Summer
00:31 Tour.
00:32 Not a lot more to say on that, but if she's your thing, that's where you'll find her.
00:38 And it's the one and only Justin Timberlake, who is still releasing his brand of smooth
00:43 pop and R&B at the tender age of 43.
00:46 It's part of the Forget Tomorrow Tour, but dismiss that philosophy on the 6th of August,
00:52 because you'll most likely miss the gig.
00:55 With a difficult band to Google, it's Texas, but from Glasgow, after last year's shining
01:01 performance at Glasgow, performing to those up to their knees in puddles of mud, these
01:05 anthem architects will be hitting the stage here in Birmingham on the 13th of September.
01:12 As summer comes to a close as our grand finale to die, Jonas Brothers will be playing five
01:17 albums one night, presumably condensed for a premium performance that will leave fans
01:23 of the heartthrob trio utterly stunned.
01:26 Rescheduled from their cancelled June performance, they're set to play on the 15th of September.
01:33 There's far too many great gigs across Birmingham to mention all of them, but Utilita gets more
01:38 than its fair share of the showstoppers who come to the city.
01:42 This year though, we'll be getting some truly mesmerising music festivals.
01:46 Where to even start?
01:48 There's of course the eclectic Moseley Folk and Arts Festival, it's a huge family friendly
01:53 event and this year sees legends such as Flogging Molly and Bell and Sebastian, Moseley Park
01:59 for two nights from the 30th of August.
02:03 Unfortunately clashing with that this year is Supersonic for those looking for a display
02:08 of experimental sounds and visual art.
02:12 Definitely worth checking out if you want an alternative experience.
02:16 Park Festival returns from the 24th of August, it's the biggest Irish music festival in the
02:22 UK and is an icon shining the light of Irish heritage in the city.
02:30 The Moseley Jazz Festival is also back in July and offers a one and only community experience
02:35 here in the city.
02:37 It's set to be a special year with the likes of Leftfield, Kool and the Gang and even Corrupt
02:42 FM playing.
02:44 I've definitely missed more than a few, what a year it is for Birmingham, so to play it
02:49 out there's the Mite Festival celebrating 10 years in the city this August.
02:54 With Dizzy on the main stage, it's going to be another big one.
