00:00 I've worked for such a long time that I have to work to be happy. It's part of my identity,
00:06 but my kids come first. You know, work is like a bonus. I'm so grateful I get to leave sometimes,
00:11 and I'm always like super happy to return. Hello, I am Hilary Duff, and welcome to my Sheet cover
00:17 shoot. I'm not sure how unexpected it is, but I have an unbelievable amount of patience.
00:26 Now that I have three kids, I thought like one gave me some patience, two gave me a lot more
00:32 patience, and three gave me like an absurd amount of patience. I think one of the things that I
00:39 most have in common with Sophie is trying to look for the good in everyone. She is an optimist,
00:46 and she really has like a very pure, kind heart, and thank goodness it makes for funny TV that she
00:53 has like such an innocence, and she goes into situations like very doe-eyed and just looking
00:58 for the positive. Usually she ends up like falling on her face or like being embarrassed somehow or
01:04 let down, but I would say that that's the thing I have the most in common with her is like expecting
01:09 the good from people. I have yet to play a mother. I definitely feel there's a connection between
01:18 at least all the women I've played on TV where there's just a relatability factor that is like
01:24 the common thread between all of them, but you know I think that my most important role right
01:31 now in my life is mother, and I haven't played a mom yet on TV. Really every day it's different.
01:38 My needs are changing with our schedule, and you know when I have time to play tennis or have lunch
01:46 with a friend, sometimes it's cooking dinner and drinking wine in the evenings, maybe taking a bath,
01:52 just having some alone time to like bring everything down. Tennis has been such a great
01:59 addition to my life. I don't know if I'm any good at tennis, but playing just makes my mind and all
02:06 the noise totally shut off. There's so much to think about. It's such a complex game. It's just
02:12 a good hour and a half of like just thinking about the game. I never grew up with tennis,
02:17 so it's like a very fresh new addition to my life, and I've made my husband start playing
02:24 so we can hopefully be old people that have a sport together. Recently I auditioned for a role
02:30 that I didn't get, and I remember being like, "Wow, I haven't auditioned in a long time," and
02:37 it was so fun to go through the process of really like prepping for an audition, and I knew it was
02:45 going to be a long shot, so I think I was disappointed, but I was like, "Wow, I kind of feel alive again."
02:51 In a different world and a different lifetime, I'd be like covered in tattoos.
02:57 Now I don't think that much thought goes into it. I have probably like 20 tattoos.
03:03 When you're new to it, it's way more like nerve-wracking, and now like my friend will come
03:09 in town and be like, "That's got a tattoo." I wish I could be like have this cool momentum behind it,
03:14 but it doesn't. Oh, the baby monitor. For me, I can be at work and like check in and be like,
03:21 "Oh, cool. She's napping on time. Awesome," or "She took a two-hour nap." Like I'm,
03:25 I could be in like a different country and check that, and I think that's something that's really
03:30 cool that our parents didn't get to have. I think the way that I've changed is just my confidence,
03:38 just knowing my worth, not being afraid to speak up, feeling like I belong there and I deserve to
03:44 be wherever I am has really changed my integrity, I guess, and just my confidence, and it just comes
03:54 with age and doing something for a long time and I guess reflecting back on all the things that I
03:59 have done and trying to be proud of most of those things has definitely influenced, I think,
04:04 where I am today. Shape, thank you so much for having me here today,
04:09 and I hope you check out the rest of my cover shoot.
