00:02 What spot in the wild card standings do you feel is most up for grabs?
00:07 >> Yeah, I think it's probably the third wild card spot in the National League.
00:10 But before we get deeper into that,
00:11 I noticed a serious issue on that wild card graphic.
00:15 Shame on you, Ben Stevens.
00:17 Shame on you, John Shames.
00:19 Are the Yankees in the hunt, guys?
00:21 Come on.
00:21 >> [LAUGH] >> I don't think they are.
00:25 >> Technically though, Jack.
00:27 Technically though, to give our guy Jesse Metzger,
00:30 our wonderful graphics producer, a little bit of the benefit of the doubt.
00:34 The Yankees, cuz we slot it with three in the wild card spots.
00:38 Three trailing.
00:39 The Yankees are still the third of three teams behind the American League
00:44 wild card chase, but yes, 11 games outside.
00:47 >> Whatever, guys.
00:49 No, I think that third wild card spot in the National League is the one that is up
00:53 for grabs.
00:54 The American League is fascinating to me.
00:56 And I was having trouble last week on the Just Baseball Show,
01:00 kind of wrapping my brain around how Toronto can get in.
01:03 I was like, but all these American League teams are so good, and
01:06 then you have a fourth that a good team's gonna miss it.
01:09 With Bichette and Matt Chapman, the left side of the infield for
01:13 Toronto, both going down on the same day on Sunday.
01:16 Looks like Bichette's gonna be day to day with a quad thing.
01:19 Chapman had a finger issue that could land him on the IL.
01:22 I think if you're without those two guys,
01:24 especially because Vlade has been such a diluted version of himself this year.
01:29 I really don't feel strongly that Toronto has a shot to get into that loaded
01:34 American League wild card.
01:35 But I think the National League wild card, that last spot, is pretty wide open.
01:40 Philly is playing incredible ball right now.
01:43 San Francisco got a great start from Kyle Harrison last night, but
01:46 I have doubts about that rotation.
01:49 Arizona, I have doubts about that rotation.
01:51 I'll tell you this, I think the Cubs are a wild card team for sure.
01:55 I think that Jordan Wicks looked amazing in his major league debut.
01:59 Javier Assad has looked incredible in starts for them this month.
02:03 He looked incredible out of the bullpen for them earlier.
02:05 And that offense is firing on all cylinders, man.
02:07 Cody Bellinger, it's been a revelation.
02:09 And Cody is playing like a $200 million player this offseason.
02:14 Justin Steele's been throwing like a Cy Young front runner.
02:17 Mike Tockman's been amazing for them.
02:18 So I think the Cubs are playing their way into firmly a wild card spot.
02:24 And I think San Francisco and Arizona, and if Miami can catch any fire,
02:28 it's gonna be really interesting down the stretch.
