On Thursday, August 24, just after 6:30 pm, a minivan collided head-on with a Kern High School District bus carrying players from the Golden Valley High School Bulldogs football team to their scheduled game against the East Bakersfield High School Blades.

00:37 A student on that bus sharing his experience.
00:41 Everything was like, there's glass going all around, people screaming and it was bad.
00:49 Kyle Streeter says he tensed up during the collision and at the time he didn't believe
00:52 it was actually happening.
00:54 I saw a windshield, it was fully off, there was no windshield and my first thought was
01:02 to call my mom.
01:03 My son called me and it was one of the most terrifying moments.
01:06 I could hear the alarm going off in the background, I could hear the boys' voices.
01:10 It was a very scary and emotional time for us.
01:14 I need to be there.
01:15 I need to get to my son.
01:16 When she arrived at the crash scene.
01:18 Chaos.
01:19 It was, there was debris everywhere.
01:21 I saw the vehicle, I saw the bus and they were stopping us, parents, they weren't letting
01:27 us go through at first and then they eventually came and they let one parent from each student
01:32 go to the bus.
01:33 The driver of the minivan died and the bus driver and two students were transported to
01:37 a hospital for mild to moderate injuries.
01:39 The name of the person who died has not been released.
01:42 Streeter says that although he wasn't hurt, the crash took an emotional toll on those
01:46 involved.
01:47 Emotionally, it was bad.
01:49 Those were saying that they don't want to go on the bus again.
01:52 I wanted to go driving home.
