00:07 ABC's Dominic Lavigne spoke to the family of the woman killed about why
00:12 they protested his release this morning. The family of Gayla Sue Price, the
00:16 woman killed in a deadly car crash in April, protested the driver's request
00:19 for bail on Wednesday morning, saying they lost their loved one forever and
00:23 she deserves justice. This should not be happening. We should not be here
00:27 right now. We should be at home loving our mother,
00:30 but we can't because of this dude. Kareem read the 18 year old involved in
00:35 the deadly crash on Campus Park Drive reached at least 100 MPH in a Dodge
00:40 Charger Hellcat
00:41 while under the influence of THC killing Gayla Sue Price on the scene.
00:47 And the family says while they lost her forever, they remember price as a
00:51 woman loved by many. You cannot see her and not smile. That was the blessing of
00:57 knowing her because no matter how bad of a day you were having, she would
01:02 always throw on her oldies, grab you by the hands, take you out into front yard
01:06 and dance with you barefoot.
01:08 On Wednesday morning, Ray had requested bail in his criminal case to receive
01:14 medical treatment before his hearing prices. Family and friends carried signs
01:18 with messages asking for justice down Truxton Avenue, saying they hope the
01:22 judge denies his request for bail. And I miss her.
01:25 This is really getting hard, really hard, and I want him to see justice. No
01:33 ifs and buts about it. He's got to pay for what he did to my sister. And
01:37 that's something Matt Clark, the family's attorney, agrees with. Jails
01:40 have infirmaries. I've had plenty of cases where people are receiving
01:44 medical treatment in jail. There is no reason to believe he can't receive
01:49 adequate medical care in jail. The judge denied rads request for bail, but
01:53 granted his request for release to a medical facility for proper care and
01:57 physical therapy. Reds attorney Forrest Miller says the Lerdo pretrial facility
02:01 neglected to provide red with adequate medical care for a broken leg injuries
02:05 to both arms, medication for nerve damage and failing to provide a
02:09 wheelchair for his client because little just absolutely cannot provide
02:12 it to him. Um, you know, there there is a just case law that that that says
02:17 basically that if people in custody are not getting their adequate medical care,
02:22 that that is a violation of their eighth amendment right. And while
02:25 prices family says they're relieved rad was denied bail, Roy says they're
02:29 disappointed in his approval for release to the Bakersfield
02:32 Rehabilitation Facility. I understand he's a kid and he made a great mistake,
02:38 but every mistake has a consequence and every consequence you got to accept.
02:43 The court ordered red to return to court on Tuesday with a statement from
02:46 the Bakersfield Rehabilitation Hospital, accepting him as a patient along with
02:50 his estimated duration of recovery to finalize his release in downtown
02:55 Bakersfield. I'm Dominique Lavignier 23 bc News connecting you
