The former Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Thatikonda Rajaiah, got emotional and broke down in front of his supporters in Jangaon. He wasn't given a ticket from the Ghanpur area for the upcoming elections, even though he is a current Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from there. The leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is also the Chief Minister of Telangana, decided to let another senior leader named Kadiyam Srihari run from that area.
It's not just Thatikonda Rajaiah who was affected. Nine other MLAs from Bharat Rashtra Samithi were also not given tickets for the upcoming elections in Telangana. The party said it will be running in the elections on its own.
In certain constituencies like Ghanpur, Khanapur, Boath, Vemulawada, Wyra, Asifabad, Korutla, Uppal, and Kamareddy (where KCR is contesting), new candidates are being chosen.
For example, Kova Lakshmi, who lost in the previous election from Asifabad, will run instead of Athram Sakku, who previously won as a Congress candidate but later joined BRS along with 12 other Congress MLAs. Kova Lakshmi won in 2014 but lost in 2018.
In Khanapur, Bhukya Johnson Rathod Naik, who is close to a current cabinet minister, K.T. Rama Rao, will run instead of A. Rekha Naik.
In the Boath area, Anil Jadhav, who is a member of the Neeradigonda Zilla Praja Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC), will run instead of Bapu Rao Rathod, who was the sitting MLA. Rathod had not been attending BRS meetings for a while, and local leaders had complained about him to the Chief Minister.
In Uppal, Bandaru Lakshma Reddy will run instead of the current MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy. Bonthu Ram Mohan, a former mayor and close to KTR, didn't get a ticket.
In Korutla, the sitting MLA Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao requested a ticket for his son, K. Sanjay Kumar, and it was accepted.
T. Rajaiah, who was the sitting MLA of Station Ghanpur, lost his position due to accusations of sexual harassment, and Kadiyam Srihari was chosen instead.
Ramesh Chennamaneni, the sitting MLA from Vemulawada, was replaced by Chalmeda Lakshmi Narasimha Rao. KCR explained that while Chennamaneni was a good leader, concerns about his citizenship led to this change.
L. Ramulu Naik, who won as an independent candidate from the ST-reserved Wyra constituency and later joined BRS, didn't get a ticket. Instead, Banoth Madanlal will run.
In Kamareddy, Gampa Govardhan had to leave his seat because KCR decided to run from there himself.
KCR said Reasons like allegations against the sitting MLAs, their poor performance, and MLAs requesting tickets for their family members are the reasons for these changes.

00:00 The former Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Thattigonda Rajaiah, got emotional and broke
00:04 down in front of his supporters in Jhangao. He wasn't given a ticket from his Ghanpur area for
00:10 the upcoming election, even though he is a current member of the Legislative Assembly from there.
00:15 The leader of Bharat Rashtra Samiti, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who is also the Chief Minister
00:19 of Telangana, decided to let another senior leader named Kadiyamma Srihari run from that area.
00:25 It's not just Thattigonda Rajaiah who was affected, 9 other MLAs from Bharat Rashtra Samiti were also
00:30 not given tickets from the upcoming elections in Telangana. The party said it will be running
00:35 in election on its own. Hello and welcome, you are watching HW News English, I am Saurabh George.
00:40 Certain constituencies like Ghanpur, Ghanpur, Both, Vemulavada, Vyar, Asifabad, Kurtla, Uppal,
00:48 and Kamareddy, new candidates are being chosen. Starting with Kovalakshmi, who lost in the
00:54 previous elections from Asifabad will run instead of Athram Sakku, who previously won as a Congress
00:59 candidate but later joined BRS along with 12 other Congress MLAs. Kovalakshmi won in 2014,
01:05 but lost in 2018. In Khanapur, Bukkia Johnson Rathod Nayak, who is close to the current
01:10 Cabinet Minister K.T. Rama Rao, will run instead of A. Rekha Nayak. In the Booth area, Anil Jadhav,
01:16 who is a member of the Niradi Gonda, Jala Praja Parishad territorial constituency,
01:21 will run instead of Bapu Rao Rathod, who was the sitting MLA. Rathod has not been attending BRS
01:27 meetings for a while and local leaders have complained about him to the CM. In Uppal,
01:33 Bandaru Lakshma Reddy will run instead of current MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy. Bontu Ram Mohan, a former
01:39 Mayor and close to KTR, didn't get a ticket. In Kurtla, the sitting MLA Kalvakuntala Vidyasagar
01:45 Rao requested a ticket for his son K. Sanjay Kumar and it was accepted. T. Rajaiah, who was
01:49 the sitting MLA of Station Ganpur, lost his position due to the acquisition of sexual harassment
01:55 and Kadiyamma Srihari was chosen instead. Ramesh Channanamannini, the sitting MLA from
02:00 Vemulavada, was replaced by Chalmeda Lakshmi Narsimha Rao. KCR explained that while Channamannini
02:06 was a good leader, concerns about his citizenship led to this change. L. Ramula Nayak, who won as
02:12 an independent candidate from the SC-reserved Vihara constituency and later joined BRS,
02:17 didn't get a ticket. Instead, Banut Madanlal will run. In Kama Reddy, Gampa Govardhan had
02:22 to leave his seat because KCR decided to run from there himself. KCR said reasons like allegations
02:28 against the sitting MLAs, their poor performance and MLAs requesting tickets for their family
02:34 members are the reason for these changes. Furthermore, the lack of significant representations
02:39 of women in the initial list of the Assembly election, candidates presented by the BRS party,
02:45 the ruling party in Telangana, has caused contentions among the various parties.
02:50 As soon as the list was revealed containing only 7 women out of a total of 115 candidates,
02:55 opposition parties swiftly highlighted the irony. K Kavita, a BRS MLC and the daughter of CM K
03:02 Chandrasekhar Rao, has previously staged a protest in Delhi demanding a 33% reservation of seats in
03:08 legislative assemblies for women. However, when her own party's candidates list featured a lower
03:14 number of women, she faced criticism from the BJP, Congress and YSRTP. Rani Rudrama, a spokesperson
03:22 from BJP commented that the fact that the BRS party neglected women in its list indicates that
03:27 Kavita's protest in Delhi for the 33% reservation for women in parliament by Mayor Theatrics.
03:33 Similarly, G Krishna Reddy, the Telangana BJP president, posted on the social media platform
03:39 X the drama created by Bangaru Kuttubam family members at Jantar Mantra demanding 33% reservation
03:45 for women in parliament. In Bangaru Kuttubam mathematics, this resulted in the BRS party
03:51 allocating only 6 out of 115 seats for women candidates. Women leaders from the Congress
03:56 held a press conference where they alleged that Kavita's actions at Jantar Mantra were
04:00 an attempt to divert attention from the involvement in the Delhi liquor scam in which she is named as
04:06 an accused. This conference was attended by Bandaru Shobha Rani, Palwai Sarvanti, Kalwa Sujata and
04:12 others. They stated that Congress is credited with introducing reservation for women in local bodies.
04:18 The party has appointed women to the positions of AICC President, Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker
04:24 and President. We do not engage in false theatrics. Why has Sharmila, the president of YSRTP advised
04:30 Kavita to practice what you preach? She questioned whether the list which a mere 6% women candidates
04:36 truly reflected Kavita's commitment and honesty towards the 33% reservation for women. Sharmila
04:42 criticized Kavita's recent protest in Delhi stating that while women have half of the state's
04:47 population, fielding only 7 female candidates was an insult to them. Responding to these accusations,
04:54 Kavita launched a strong counterattack against the opposition. She replied to Krishna Reddy
04:59 expressing surprise at his newfound concern for women's rights and highlighting that the BJP
05:04 has failed to fulfil its manifesto promise by passing the women's reservation bill.
05:09 She also criticized the Congress for their initiative regarding the bill,
05:13 considering them insincere and merely symbolic gesture towards addressing women's
05:17 representation in politics. Defending the BRS candidate list, Kavita added that the
05:22 Chief Minister's perspective was that without a constitutional provision similar to the one
05:27 that currently exists for the local body elections, achieving women's reservation in state
05:31 legislature and parliament would be difficult. Now, on one hand, Kavita is talking about 33%
05:37 women representation in the state assembly whereas on the other hand, her own party has given 6 out
05:42 of 115 seats to women candidates. So, according to this, where is 33% women representation in the
05:49 BRS party? That's all on the news report. Stay tuned with HW News English. Thank you for joining us.
