Jeff Goldblum Gushes Over BEST TIME at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour (Exclusive)
Transcript
00:00 Jeff, when you walked in, I have to tell you,
00:02 I immediately noticed this coat.
00:04 I believe this is the coat you wore
00:05 to Taylor Swift's Eras tour.
00:07 (gasps)
00:08 - Very good.
00:09 - Yes, it was.
00:10 And this was the hat.
00:11 (crowd singing)
00:14 I had the best time.
00:18 She is a, she is a Swifty through and through.
00:22 - So I saw your post, Jeff's expression, in that video.
00:26 You're singing your heart out.
00:27 Jeff is just like jaws on the floor.
00:29 What was the highlight of the night?
00:31 - Her, and Dr. Swift, you know Taylor Swift.
00:36 I'd never been to the SoFi Stadium.
00:39 It was a place, so you walk in there, 70,000 people.
00:44 They're all going nuts, and we were exchanging
00:47 friendship bracelets with everybody.
00:49 - Part of the Swifty community, yes.
00:51 - It's so joyful to see her,
00:54 like 'cause she always has been herself,
00:57 and now I feel like she's being celebrated
00:59 for being herself, and she really can bask in that light
01:04 when she's there in the concert.
01:05 And it was our first, I feel like I haven't been
01:07 to a real proper concert, and so that was my first.
01:10 - You and I have not.
01:11 - Right, no, not together.
01:13 - Not together.
01:14 - Wow.
01:15 - So special for many reasons.
01:16 I take it you're an OG Swifty, you're a new Swifty?
01:18 - Sort of new.
01:19 We met her at the, you know, that 40th anniversary of SNL,
01:23 and we stopped for a moment.
01:23 She couldn't have been nicer.
01:25 We chatted a little bit.
01:25 - I worked for her at the, I opened the Grammys for her.
01:28 - As an answer.
01:30 - Yeah, an aerialist.
01:31 I was doing aerialists when she sang
01:32 We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together.
01:34 And so that was my first time where I got to meet her,
01:38 and she was the nicest thing.
01:39 My aerial rig, the rigger was pressing the button,
01:42 it was coming down, it almost hit her,
01:44 and I was like, Taylor, watch out, watch out!
01:46 And she jumped out of the way, and she was like,
01:47 oh my god, I'm so sorry, and I was like,
01:49 no, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, and I was like,
01:52 I had no control, but.
01:54 - But this is what we do as Swifties,
01:55 it's about sisterhood, right?
01:56 It's about being kind to each other.
01:57 - Yes, she's a total like, girls girl.
02:01 - I love it.
02:01 - Okay, so I know that you're a musical man.
02:03 Is the call out to do a collaboration with Ms. Swift?
02:06 - Oh my god, that would be the best thing.
02:07 - Well, jeez, you know, we've sung,
02:10 we have some very interesting and important singers
02:13 and artists have sung with us, but boy, jeez.
02:17 Well, Taylor Swift, you know, hello.
02:19 If you wanna sing with us, you can check us out.
02:21 We're called the Mildred Schnitzer Orchestra.
02:23 And we've got our fourth album coming out on Decca,
02:26 so, you know, and yes, we have special people sing with us.
02:29 So, you know, if you're interested in singing a jazz song
02:32 or anything, you know, yeah, that would be really fun.
02:34 - Call the Goldblum's.
02:35 - Oh, hello, good morning.
02:38 - I have to imagine a little extra time with Charlie,
02:40 a little extra time with River.
02:42 What has this summer with an eight year old
02:44 and a six year old been like?
02:46 - It has been sweet.
02:47 We've had a lot more time at home.
02:49 You've had a little bit of downtime.
02:52 And yeah, they've been excited to see da-da,
02:55 like da-da, da-da, yeah.
02:57 - I see your face lighting up
02:59 at the mere mention of those kids.
03:00 What is this chapter of your life as Daddy Jeff?
03:04 How does that feel?
03:05 - Just amazing, I'm just crazy about them
03:07 and it's enhanced our relationship,
03:09 seeing how she is as a mom,
03:12 besides everything else that I know her for
03:16 and is dear and flaming and,
03:21 and romantical.
03:23 And then those kids are just amazing.
03:25 They're just hilarious and maddening
03:29 and sometimes challenging and they're wild.
03:32 It can be chaotic, but it's very, very beautiful.
03:35 - You bring up the word romantic.
03:37 I know next year is a big deal for the two of you.
03:39 You're gonna hit the decade mark,
03:40 the 10 year wedding anniversary.
03:43 How does that make you feel?
03:44 How do you think you'll celebrate?
03:46 - To be honest, I haven't thought that far down the road.
03:49 Because we celebrate the day we met,
03:52 which is August 26th.
03:53 - Coming up!
03:54 - It's coming up, we want the world to know.
03:57 And that's August 26th, that's the day we met.
03:59 It was 12 years ago, so we've really been together
04:02 come this August 26th, 12 years.
04:04 And then we got married November 8th,
04:06 I guess eight years ago, so now this'll be nine
04:10 and then 10 coming up.
04:11 - We're in 2014.
04:12 - Yeah, so what is 10, what, you know.
04:16 - What are you supposed to do on the 10th?
04:17 I'm so bad at these things.
04:19 - I think the Goldbloom's synonymous with music,
04:21 synonymous with parties.
04:23 I'd do something huge.
04:25 I know tonight is spectacularly important.
04:31 I imagine a very special date night
04:33 for the two of you to be here,
04:34 giving back to the LA Food Bank.
04:36 Why did you clear your schedule
04:37 to say I gotta do it tonight?
04:39 - He just landed from--
04:42 - I did.
04:43 I actually rushed over, did my ablutions
04:46 and put on something presentable
04:48 and came over. - Looks snazzy.
04:49 - Yeah, 'cause I was, so I made a little bit of an effort,
04:51 but so did everybody else.
04:52 And Keith Addis, my manager, you know,
04:56 I have that connection.
04:57 So that's a reason, and this is--
04:58 - But it's important.
05:00 - Well, yes, that's what I'm getting to.
05:01 That was all the pre-preamble to say
05:04 that it was a no-brainer, I think, as the kids say.
05:08 But it's important, it's been on my agendas
05:12 for before you were born, possibly,
05:14 to do whatever I could for this thing called hunger.
05:18 - Yeah, and we believe in the organization
05:20 and what they're doing.
05:21 We know that, like you said earlier,
05:23 97% of the dollars that are donated
05:26 go directly to the food and donating them.
05:29 - 1.2 million meals?
05:31 Unbelievable.
05:33 When you think about how not just the normal amount
05:36 of food scarcity and food insecurity
05:38 in Los Angeles is happening,
05:39 but multiple industries are on strike right now,
05:42 need is at an all-time high,
05:44 how do you feel about all that?
05:47 - Alerted, alarmed, focused, concerned,
05:50 heart broken and engaged,
05:55 and ready to roll up my sleeves and go to work.
05:58 - Yeah, I understand you're throwing down
06:00 a little bit here tonight, they're putting you to work.
06:02 What's going on?
06:03 - You know more than I do.
06:04 I don't know what's on the brochure, but--
06:07 - I'm excited to see you do that,
06:09 'cause he's a cook at home.
06:12 - But I do, what do I do?
06:14 - You have a great omelet when you do make one.
06:17 - I'll make a nice scrambled egg and an omelet.
06:19 - Please, see, that counts.
06:21 - Oh yes, yes.
06:23 Cereal, I like my overnight oats and all kind of cereal.
06:27 That might be my last meal of request.
06:29 - You're a healthy eater,
06:30 which is also what we were reading about at the food bank,
06:33 how they take in the responsibility
06:36 of giving nutritious food,
06:39 and that was really heartwarming to hear.
06:42 - Obviously, very trying times right now,
06:45 SAG-AFTRA on strike, the Writers Guild on strike.
06:48 How are you feeling about your community,
06:49 and what do you think we have to do
06:51 to get to a resolution?
06:53 - I feel inspired by the community,
06:55 and especially my sisters and brothers
06:58 in SAG and AFTRA and the Writers Guild.
07:01 I'm 100% in passionate solidarity with them,
07:05 and I just hope that everything gets worked out
07:09 sooner than later so that we can return to creative maximum.
