According to a recent study, the majority of recent college grads would make a different choice when it comes to their higher education, regretting key things like their major or where they went to school. A lot of them said they would reconsider what they studied to get a better return on their investment. It's why the next generation told Fidelity they're being more strategic with their choices.

00:40 This next wave of college students are applying at a time when they're consumed by student
00:45 debt crisis, inflation, job security.
00:48 Today's students value better employment opportunities and financial security.
00:52 And they're really being smart about how they get there.
00:55 At the same time, though, the study found college students lack financial knowledge
00:59 to make the best decisions.

01:10 Start saving well in advance.
01:12 If you can't save early, save what you can when you can.
01:16 The better prepared you are, the better position you'll be in.
01:19 Second, take advantage of a 529 college savings account.
01:23 You can use it to pay for college or even student loans.
01:26 Finally, don't be afraid to reach out for help.
