01:05 And I'm growing my hair out to attempt it again.

01:16 But volume like this doesn't just grow overnight.
01:19 I started growing my afro about 10 years ago.
01:22 I had straight hair before then.
01:24 And then I just decided to try the natural look.
01:28 One day, I googled largest afro.
01:30 And I saw that Guinness had a category for it.
01:33 And I was inspired to actually continue growing my hair
01:36 and attempt it one day.
01:38 And it might surprise you just how little attention
01:41 Simone gives her record-breaking curls.
01:44 People think my afro requires a lot of time.
01:46 But really, I'm a low-maintenance natural.
01:48 It takes me about 10 minutes to get ready in the morning.
01:52 So this is my pick.
01:53 This gives me the ultimate volume for my afro.
01:56 It's a must-have.
01:57 Then I have my water just to freshen up the afro

02:03 While Simone's record has now been beaten,
02:06 she's determined to reclaim her title.

02:27 When I see my face on websites, it's so bizarre.
02:32 But it also feels really good, like the messages
02:35 that I get from people telling me that I inspire them.

02:43 A couple of years ago, I would never
02:45 think about walking down the street with my hair
02:48 this wide and high because it just wasn't accepted.
02:53 So now when I do it, I just feel super powered.

03:04 I love my super long 12-inch nails.
03:07 These nails have been a labor of love
03:09 for more than half her life.
03:11 I've been growing my nails for 32 years.
03:13 I started growing them back in 1989.
03:16 The longest my nails have ever been was 16 inches.
03:20 And how long are we looking?
03:21 12 inches.
03:22 Having spent so many years with them,
03:25 Cordelia has no issue going about her day-to-day life.
03:28 The nails actually fold back.
03:31 Whenever I'm working, they fold back over my arm.
03:34 So if I'm holding something, they're out of the way,
03:37 completely out of the way.
03:38 I don't go at anything fingertip first.
03:41 And being a nail technician herself
03:43 definitely helps Cordelia keep her nails healthy and strong.
03:47 I trim them every once in a while
03:49 just to keep them at 12 inches.
03:51 I actually use a jewelry trimmer to cut them with
03:55 because they don't fit in between a regular nail clipper.
03:59 'Cause I'm a nail tech and I do know how to repair them
04:02 if I do accidentally break them.
04:03 And to avoid accidents,
04:05 Cordelia has devised new ways of working with her hands.
04:09 If I'm cooking something, like if I'm making hamburgers,
04:12 having to make the patties back and forth,
04:15 that kind of thing can become an issue.
04:19 I'll use my knuckles if I do have to do any scrubbing.

04:27 when a TikTok she posted blew up
04:29 and she's now known as Miss Nails on social media.
04:33 The one that went viral, which has 17 million views,
04:38 that was simply a hand-washing video.
04:40 So, I put soap on the nails.
04:42 Yes, they get a bath too.
04:45 A lot of times the comments are negative, but I like it.
04:48 I enjoy answering them back.

05:37 but also to find out if she would now beat her own record.
05:41 Well, I kind of got hit with a question.
05:43 And then I clicked back and I said,
05:44 well, anything to challenge my hair
05:46 and maybe change my look for just a little bit,
05:49 I'm willing to try.
05:50 I saw Asha when I was a child on television,
05:52 when she became the Guinness Book of Records holder.
05:57 And I was quite inspired by it.
05:59 How much your hair weighs?
06:01 I think it's about 25 or 30 pounds
06:05 when it's dry, not wet.
06:06 After some pampering,
06:07 it's time to face a marathon challenge
06:10 of untangling Asha's dreads.
06:12 Not taking anything away from Lou
06:13 and this lovely lady here.
06:16 They're not used to untangling this much locks,
06:18 so it can probably take a little time,
06:20 but my husband has really mastered it.
06:22 I just don't even know how we do it,
06:23 but he gets it done in like 30 minutes.
06:25 And while the salon staff tirelessly search
06:28 for the longest dread to measure,
06:29 Asha drops her haircare secrets.
06:32 I wash my scalp.
06:33 The top of the head,
06:33 I can probably do that two or three times a week
06:36 to make sure I don't have a buildup
06:37 of dirt and sweat in my scalp.
06:39 But the full length, once a week.
06:41 Say like this is a tub,
06:43 I would sit with my back against
06:45 and my husband would fill up the tub
06:46 and dump it in there.
06:48 Let it soak for like 10 or 15 minutes
06:49 with some bubble bath or something.
06:52 And then he goes in,
06:53 sit at the side of the tub
06:54 and treat it like your hand washing clothes.
06:57 Then we use a huge bath towels

07:01 Once we get a lot of that water out,

07:04 the sun hits really hard in my driveway
07:07 and it is dry, two hours.
