37 Minecraft Builds You Didn't Know Were Possible
Transcript
00:00 We transformed an Elder Guardian into a cyborg.
00:02 And this pet owl is actually a grindstone.
00:04 And these are 37 Minecraft build hacks.
00:06 And hey, the analytics gods bet me
00:08 that no one can subscribe to the channel
00:10 before I hit the ground.
00:11 But I know that you can.
00:12 So to prove them wrong,
00:13 follow that sub button below.
00:15 It's free and it helps out a ton.
00:16 Here's how to make a working cyborg in Minecraft.
00:19 Because if we tuck an Elder Guardian in a place like this,
00:21 it's AI is just smart enough
00:23 to follow you around with its eye,
00:24 giving us the perfect amount of creepiness
00:26 for this working robot.
00:27 Overall, making this Elder Guardian
00:29 feel a lot more like one of the Guardians from Zelda.
00:31 This is a bed for me,
00:32 and this is a bed for my son.
00:34 Or it sure looks like that.
00:35 Because by using some sneaky armor stands like this,
00:38 we can shrink down our regular items
00:40 to a much more manageable size.
00:42 And with just that,
00:42 we'll have ourselves a child-sized bed
00:44 and a child-sized chest to keep all their items.
00:47 Just don't try to open it up.
00:48 Then the illusion will fall apart.
00:49 If you can't see the lights here,
00:51 that's kind of the point.
00:52 Since if we place these carpet layers
00:54 in such a way on top of strings,
00:55 then we can use that to hide the lighting from the top.
00:58 And there you go.
00:59 The light gray carpet matches the stone texture pretty well.
01:01 And that way you don't have to see a distracting block
01:03 of glowstone that takes away from the rest of your build.
01:05 So if you're looking for a subtle way
01:07 to keep monsters from spawning,
01:08 I'd say this technique's worth a try.
01:10 Here's how to make your fire even hotter,
01:12 or at least look like it is.
01:13 Since while you could just do a fireplace
01:14 with a regular fire source like this,
01:16 by tucking magma blocks behind it,
01:18 those will look like hot coals
01:19 that are inside of the furnace.
01:21 And that's one of those little details
01:22 that when you put it into your build,
01:24 it really proves you went the extra mile.
01:25 And I think that's worth it.
01:27 We added a vertical slab to Minecraft.
01:29 Well, kind of.
01:30 Because funnily enough,
01:31 if you just place two trap doors facing into each other
01:33 and then flip them up,
01:34 then it certainly looks like we've got ourselves
01:36 a vertical slab here.
01:37 And especially when you use something
01:38 like the spruce trap door,
01:40 the texture blends together perfectly
01:41 and makes it look like an actual feature in the game.
01:43 Which I guess it is,
01:44 but just not in the way that Mojang intended it.
01:47 And considering that they denied
01:48 putting this feature in the game,
01:49 this is really the closest we're gonna get.
01:51 This is a melon, and this is a rotten melon.
01:53 Or it looks like that.
01:54 Because by mixing together mud with our mangrove roots,
01:57 we get the perfect block to look like a rotten melon.
01:59 And then if we take after this user
02:01 and use a wither rose here instead,
02:03 then that'll also look like the decayed stem
02:05 from the original melon plant.
02:06 Which could be a perfect way
02:07 to add some new world building to your new farm.
02:09 Or to play prank on your friend,
02:10 whichever one happens first.
02:12 If we fill in the gaps of our wall with the brick wall block,
02:14 then those brick walls make it look
02:16 as if the wall got damaged
02:17 and the facade's starting to fade off.
02:19 Which I think is a great touch.
02:20 Not only does it add literal depth to the build,
02:22 but it also adds depth
02:24 in that it tells more of a story with it.
02:26 Which is a lot to accomplish
02:27 from just a couple of bricks and a wall.
02:29 So I think this is a pretty good deal.
02:31 This build act is a violation of the Geneva Convention.
02:33 And now that I got your attention,
02:35 let's talk about how we built it.
02:36 Because luckily what's actually happening here
02:38 isn't as cool as it seems.
02:39 But by tucking a villager into place in a cauldron
02:42 and then using a dinner bone name tag,
02:44 we can flip it upside down.
02:45 But because it's a cauldron,
02:46 it's not gonna drown inside that block.
02:48 Not to mention the fact that
02:49 that's not how the dinner bone name tag works anyway.
02:51 And then with a couple of chains on top to keep it in place,
02:54 we make it look as if it's hanging inside the pot.
02:56 Even though luckily the villagers a paid actor
02:59 and no one was harmed in the process.
03:01 Here's how to turn your pistons from this into this.
03:03 And the secret behind this isn't doing something
03:05 like McMacistine's mod, even though that is cool.
03:08 But instead by just using the set block command
03:10 with different parts of the piston,
03:11 we can separate the head from the body
03:13 and then place fence posts lining in the middle.
03:15 And there you have it, a giant piston.
03:17 And if you really wanted to,
03:18 you could even make this into the sticky variant as well.
03:20 Just don't expect it to retract anything.
03:22 There's no off switch for this one.
03:23 Instead of using stone or andesite for your build,
03:25 use both together.
03:26 And what I mean by that is that
03:27 if you were to add in patches of stone
03:29 within your andesite floor like this,
03:31 it'll create the illusion of broken floor tiles.
03:34 And then it just looks like the concrete underneath
03:35 is getting exposed,
03:37 which I think is a good way to mix together these two blocks.
03:39 Especially considering you're gonna get a lot of both
03:41 on your next mining trip.
03:42 Might as well put it to use.
03:43 If you've got plenty of banners,
03:45 then you have just what you need
03:46 to make a couple of these ghosts
03:47 that were designed by Gold Robin.
03:48 And I love the little detail
03:50 of having different facial expressions
03:52 for each of the ghosts.
03:53 And really, whether you use glass blocks
03:54 to support these in the sky
03:55 or light sources so that they glow in the night,
03:57 this build trick is just what you need
03:59 to turn your house into a haunted one.
04:00 And you do it all without needing a creepypasta.
04:03 You might've seen this build
04:04 recreating the entire universe in Minecraft,
04:06 but here's how to do it yourself.
04:07 Since with the help of glowing invisible item frames,
04:10 we can mix together nether stars and skulk veins
04:12 to have ourselves our very own piece of the cosmos
04:14 right up on our ceiling.
04:15 And then with magma blocks and frog lights for the sun,
04:18 the whole thing really starts to come together,
04:19 especially if you use something like shaders.
04:21 This build hack is expensive, but it's worth trying.
04:24 Since while it's more common to do paths over dirt,
04:26 by using iron ore and raw iron blocks like so,
04:28 we could do the same over our stone.
04:30 And following this example,
04:31 it can really start to look like something special.
04:33 Just make sure that none of your greedy friends
04:35 come by with a pickaxe.
04:36 You're really giving up the goods here.
04:38 You're gonna have to zoom in to see this one,
04:40 but that's kind of the point.
04:41 Since by tucking a button
04:42 inside an invisible item frame like this,
04:44 we get the perfect amount of texture and detail
04:46 to make ourselves beetles crawling on your oak log.
04:49 And while they're admittedly a lot smaller
04:51 than spiders and bees that we already see in the game,
04:53 let's be honest,
04:54 I feel like this looks more realistic anyway.
04:56 And if you built one of these with a glowing item frame,
04:58 then you might just have a firefly
04:59 on one of these logs as well,
05:00 which is nice 'cause they're not in the game otherwise.
05:03 Getting mobs to cooperate for your builds
05:04 is not an easy concept,
05:06 but with the help of a cleverly placed stone brick wall here,
05:09 then we can set up our display in such a way
05:11 that when we push in our glass blocks using a piston,
05:13 then even a mob as dangerous as a creeper
05:15 will be kept in place.
05:16 Granted, it will be stuck trying to bounce up and down
05:18 to get over that fence,
05:19 but that's a small price to pay
05:21 when the alternative is it exploding
05:23 and the whole build goes up in smoke.
05:24 I'd much prefer this one.
05:26 Campfires are great for smoke,
05:27 but they don't offer a lot of that.
05:29 So, enter the dead coral.
05:30 By using these spaced out like so,
05:32 we can make some pretty convincing clouds of smoke.
05:34 And I think they look a lot more like smoke
05:36 than the kind of cobwebs that we're used to.
05:38 And better yet,
05:38 you can even mix together the different kinds of coral
05:41 to have different gradients to the smoke cloud.
05:43 There's so much to do here,
05:44 it's really just up to you to experiment with it.
05:46 But if you're looking to take your chimney
05:48 up to the next level,
05:49 I think you'd be hard pressed to find something
05:50 that works better than this.
05:52 As Ion Pixel shows off,
05:53 the red color of the mangrove wood
05:55 lends perfectly to building yourself an airplane.
05:57 And this example more than proves that.
05:59 And then with some grindstones
06:00 for the landing gear underneath,
06:02 we have just what we need
06:02 to put ourselves a mine cart up top
06:04 and ride around in our newfound biplane.
06:06 Though, ride around is a funny way of saying it.
06:08 Really, it's just riding in place.
06:10 But as the original time-lapse shows,
06:11 even that looks pretty convincing after a while,
06:13 especially when the clouds move in the background.
06:15 Chandeliers are great, but expensive.
06:17 But with the help of glow berries,
06:19 we can do it for a lot cheaper,
06:20 all without sacrificing the look inside.
06:22 With a couple of these cave vines,
06:24 we can hang them off our roof
06:25 and then clip the ends
06:26 so that they stay just right where we want them.
06:28 And there you go, a chandelier for a light source,
06:30 and we did it all without having to break the bank.
06:32 I'd say both of those count for a win.
06:33 Minecraft has glass bottles, but not like these ones.
06:36 Though, with the help of an armor stand,
06:38 we're able to position our telescopes just right
06:40 and make it look like we got spyglass bottles instead.
06:43 And I think these would work perfect for a new bar,
06:45 especially because when we use armor stands,
06:47 we're able to position them
06:48 on different steps of the stair like this,
06:50 making it look more like a shelf than anything else.
06:52 And I think that's perfect.
06:54 We can wait for this build hack to load in,
06:55 but the truth is it never will,
06:57 because that's the whole point.
06:59 And by mixing together an invisible item frame
07:01 with a goat horn like this,
07:03 we can use a command block that constantly updates it
07:05 so that it rotates and creates this loading screen animation
07:08 that we see here,
07:09 which can be great for making your friends think
07:10 they have a bad internet connection,
07:12 or it might just be useful to have
07:13 for the next time you set up a new map
07:15 and you need something for the players to see
07:16 while you get everything ready.
07:17 And really, so few of the Minecraft textures are animated,
07:20 so it's nice to see us make do where we can.
07:22 This is a pumpkin.
07:23 This is a jack-o'-lantern.
07:24 And this is my jack-o'-lantern nether portal,
07:26 which, taken after this user's post,
07:28 we can take advantage of different orange-colored blocks
07:30 such as a caixa and red sandstone
07:32 to really detail our supersized squash.
07:34 And then with a couple of drip stones for the teeth,
07:36 I think this gets appropriately terrifying
07:38 to house your next nether portal.
07:39 I mean, it certainly looks a lot better
07:41 than just putting a nether portal
07:42 in the middle of a field, that's for sure.
07:44 Here's how to build the wither
07:45 without actually building the wither.
07:47 Since if we take after this user
07:48 and mix together the right number of stairs and slabs,
07:51 then we can carve out this perfect wither shape
07:53 into your next wall.
07:54 And then for an added bit of detail,
07:56 mixing something like chiseled nether brick,
07:58 which has the wither skull texture in it,
08:00 could work perfectly for the heads behind the wall.
08:02 I mean, that's too good to pass up on.
08:03 And it's a lot less destructive than the real thing.
08:06 Instead of placing your food in an item frame,
08:08 place it on a rack,
08:09 or rather place it on an invisible item frame
08:11 on top of that rack,
08:12 which in turn gets us this really cool effect
08:14 of drying out our fish after we caught them,
08:16 which is a bit of extra effort,
08:17 but it looks a lot better
08:18 than just placing them inside of the barrel
08:20 after you catch them.
08:21 So I'd say it's a trade-off.
08:22 If you look closely,
08:23 you'll notice that some Minecraft textures
08:25 you don't expect to work together do it just perfectly.
08:27 And such is the case when you put the target block
08:30 next to the quartz pillar texture,
08:31 since they both have these evenly spaced lines
08:33 that blend together nicely.
08:35 And that could give you some cool opportunities
08:36 to use these for, not just for a target range,
08:39 but maybe it's a way to mark a pillar for a secret as well.
08:41 Or maybe it's graffiti.
08:43 The choice is up to you.
08:44 With the help of custom player heads,
08:45 we have just what we need
08:46 to make ourselves a replica of the Mars Rover.
08:48 And by using one of them as a camera up top,
08:50 this really does sell the illusion.
08:52 And I think if you were to tuck one of these
08:53 inside your next mesa biome,
08:55 that might be all you need
08:56 to turn that red desert into the red planet,
08:58 which is a lot cheaper than spending billions
09:00 on a rocket to try and get there.
09:01 Trust me.
09:02 By taking brick stairs
09:03 and alternating them in a pattern like so,
09:05 we have it in just a way
09:06 where it looks like there's a brick missing
09:08 from each of these steps.
09:09 And I think that's just perfect.
09:10 And not only is this a little funny thing
09:12 to put in your world,
09:13 but when mixed into a wall like this example,
09:15 it actually adds some convincing depth.
09:17 And when you zoom out,
09:18 it might even leave some people wondering
09:20 how you actually built it,
09:21 which I think is true of all the great build hacks.
09:23 This tank might not be intimidating, but it sure is cool.
09:26 And we built it all in vanilla.
09:27 Since by mixing together anvils for the wheels
09:30 and trap doors for the supports,
09:31 we then have all we need to tuck a boat on top
09:33 and a lightning rod at the front
09:35 and make this into the perfect mini tank replica.
09:37 Just don't expect to go anywhere very fast in it.
09:40 Stop using item frames and instead use these signs.
09:43 Since unlike those item frames,
09:44 these aren't gonna lag out your game nearly as much.
09:46 And by using different kinds of ASCII art
09:48 like this user does here,
09:49 it can still be quite effective.
09:51 And plus you'll still have room to type out the actual label
09:54 in case people can't decipher your abstract art.
09:56 And for my money,
09:57 I'd say this is a lot more creative
09:58 than just putting a leather in between some sticks
10:00 and doing it that way.
10:02 And better yet, you could even dye the sign,
10:03 offering up more variety than you maybe expected.
10:06 In better art condition,
10:07 trees are known to fall over,
10:08 but in Java, not so much.
10:10 So I guess that's our job,
10:11 but we don't have to be boring about it.
10:12 And by help of using the wood blocks instead of the logs,
10:15 we can build ourselves a custom tree like this
10:17 that seems to have toppled over in the forest,
10:19 which I think is a great detail to have,
10:21 especially if you have some kind of lumberjack shack nearby.
10:23 Oh, and for the cherry on top,
10:25 place a bee nest off to the side here.
10:26 Then it really looks like one toppled over.
10:28 Here's how you should use your grindstone
10:30 in the enchantment room.
10:30 Since placing it like this is boring,
10:32 but if we add this in,
10:33 then it's not a grindstone, but instead a pet owl,
10:36 which fits a lot more
10:37 with the magical aesthetic of the room anyway.
10:39 So if you're playing on a server
10:40 with the player head data pack installed,
10:42 take this as your sign to build yourself a head wig.
10:44 Certainly looks better than the alternative.
10:46 With a mix of carpet and wool blocks,
10:47 we can lay out the perfect rug to have ourselves a picnic.
10:50 And then by using pressure plates for the, well, plates,
10:53 we can really make this look as if it's lived in.
10:54 And for my money,
10:55 the best part of this whole facade
10:57 is using an invisible item frame
10:59 to add in a little shovel for a spoon.
11:00 That's just perfect.
11:02 Here's how to make your bamboo farm look 10 times better.
11:04 Since with the help of the debug stick,
11:06 we can add in these different leaves to your bamboo stalks
11:08 and essentially make them into a whole new plant.
11:10 And then by adding in fences on the side
11:12 and iron chains above,
11:13 we've got ourselves a new farm to put on display.
11:16 And honestly, with how fast bamboo grows anyway,
11:18 it might be nice to have the chains
11:19 so that the rest of it doesn't get messed up
11:21 as soon as they grow.
11:22 Normally we do our cooking in a furnace,
11:23 but how about a pot?
11:25 Since as we'll see here,
11:26 by just putting a cauldron full of water
11:28 on top of a campfire,
11:29 the smoke's still able to pass through the top.
11:31 And then with a couple of fence gates pointing into it
11:33 and some armor stands locked into place like so,
11:36 this looks like the perfect place to cook up your meal.
11:38 And what's even better about it
11:39 is that we can still interact with the campfire underneath.
11:41 So if you really wanted to,
11:42 just place down your meat
11:43 and you'll still get the food cooked all the same,
11:45 just with a lot more visual splendor.
11:47 With just a trip wire hook and some trap doors,
11:49 we can add a convincing tree tap to your tapped trees.
11:52 And from that point,
11:53 it's up to you to choose what kind of sap
11:54 you're collecting from the tree,
11:55 whether that's using a honey block
11:57 next to a birch tree for tree sap
11:58 or a redstone block with a crimson tree
12:00 to look a bit more sinister.
12:02 And for such a simple idea to pull off,
12:04 this really is creative.
12:05 And it won't take up much space either.
12:07 So if you can't go through all the effort
12:08 to build a custom tree,
12:10 at least you can make a bone meal tree
12:11 look a bit more custom with one of these.
12:13 You probably don't think about using levers for building,
12:15 but after seeing this, you'll reconsider.
12:17 Since just two levers and a cobblestone wall,
12:20 we can get a nice piece of detail for your next wall.
12:22 And really, as this example shows,
12:23 you could tuck a whole bunch of things
12:25 inside the middle of these two levers
12:26 and have it look pretty cool.
12:28 And personally, I'd like to take after this comment
12:30 on the post and make one of these with an amethyst crystal.
12:32 That would be particularly cool to see.
12:34 And plus, it would serve as a light source.
12:36 In the nether, you'll find warp trees
12:38 and now the dead warp tree.
12:39 And the way that we made this
12:40 is by mixing together muddy mangrove roots for the stem
12:43 and then dead coral blocks for the leaves above.
12:45 And while that's cool enough,
12:46 I love the idea of putting hanging roots
12:48 underneath the blocks to look like dead warped vines.
12:51 And really, this just makes me want to see
12:52 a whole dead forest made out of these.
12:54 They look that good.
12:55 These are the rarest blocks to build with in Minecraft
12:57 because you can't build with them.
12:59 But if we take after this user,
13:01 we might just have a way to incorporate
13:02 the sun and moon into our designs.
13:04 And for me personally, I love the creativity here.
13:07 And the fact that these only show up in the build
13:08 for a limited amount of time,
13:10 I think makes it even more special,
13:11 making it more of a light show than a static statue.
13:14 And with that, folks,
13:15 YouTube thinks that you might like this video.
13:16 So see if they're right and have a good one, all right?
