00:00 This is my house now,
00:01 and this is my house at the end of the video.
00:02 And these are 31 ways to make your house look good.
00:05 And hey, the YouTube judge bets me
00:07 that you can't subscribe to the channel
00:08 with your eyes closed.
00:09 So to prove them wrong,
00:10 take a blind guess at the sub button down below.
00:13 It's free and it helps out a ton.
00:14 Now, the first step in taking this wooden cube up a notch
00:17 is gonna be to add in some pillars like so.
00:19 That way they look more supportive
00:20 when we start to get to the roof and such.
00:22 And as any builder will tell you,
00:23 that's not the only kind of depth
00:24 that we can add to our walls.
00:25 Because next, we gotta talk about a wall facade,
00:27 which is really just a fancy way of saying
00:29 that we're adding in stairs and slabs
00:31 so that the walls start to pop
00:32 a little bit more from the supports.
00:34 Even now that we've got these new pillars and wall facade,
00:37 it's still just a cube.
00:38 So to fix that,
00:39 the easiest way to make your house into a complex shape
00:41 is to add on more simple shapes like so.
00:43 Even if we're just mixing together
00:45 more rectangles and squares as the base,
00:47 when you combine them all together,
00:48 that'll make the house look a lot more like a unique shape
00:50 without making it any more difficult to build.
00:52 Now that we're adding in more walls and parts to the house,
00:55 we wanna avoid using the same blocks
00:56 for each one of the walls.
00:57 Because if you zoom out,
00:58 it really starts to look samey from out here.
01:01 So instead, let's take this idea
01:02 of using a linear pattern like so to break up the texture.
01:05 Let's take our attention from the walls of the house
01:07 down to the floor.
01:08 Because while we could use a standard carpet,
01:10 I think that by adding in other blocks
01:12 that are the same color as the carpet blocks,
01:14 we start to get a new texture to it.
01:16 You could even use a mix of carpet and wool blocks
01:18 to add in different height levels to the carpet.
01:20 Now that we've cleaned up level one,
01:22 let's take it up a level,
01:23 or that is to level two of the house.
01:24 But to even get there,
01:25 we're gonna need a new set of stairs.
01:27 And while a standard two wide staircase is iconic,
01:30 I think this user's design looks a lot nicer than that.
01:32 And it's the same cost.
01:34 Because by just placing these stairs
01:35 on the outside facing inward,
01:37 we get a natural railing to the stairs,
01:39 which lets us get up to the second floor
01:41 so that we can start on our roof.
01:42 We're gonna wanna do something a little bit more unique
01:44 than just the standard staircase design.
01:46 And the easiest way to avoid your building
01:48 looking like a triangle
01:49 is to mix in a use of whole blocks and slabs
01:51 instead of just regular stair steps.
01:53 And speaking of which, now that we've got the roof done,
01:55 this house is really starting to come together.
01:57 But a house isn't all that good
01:58 if you're not able to sleep in it.
01:59 So let's deal with that next.
02:01 And as you can probably guess,
02:02 I'm not a fan of just placing your bed out in the open.
02:04 So instead, let's take our standard bed
02:06 and add some function to it.
02:07 By using this user's design,
02:09 we can place our bed up here,
02:10 have it look like a bunk bed,
02:11 but then still have all the space consolidated
02:13 for a crafting table, barrel storage,
02:16 and even an electron if you want.
02:17 Oh, and don't worry,
02:18 this lantern that we're adding here
02:19 isn't the only light source that we plan to add.
02:21 And luckily, if we craft a few more lanterns,
02:23 we can use these as a unique way to light up the base.
02:26 By just using a mix of levers, item frames, and chains,
02:29 we can make it look like the lanterns
02:30 are held up by the wall instead of hanging in midair.
02:33 And once we place in the last lantern,
02:35 our base is really starting to look like something
02:36 from the inside,
02:37 but there's still work to be done
02:38 on the outside of the base.
02:39 The best way to do that will be adding in vegetation blocks.
02:42 And we can do this with a mix of vines, leaves, or flowers,
02:45 but let's not make these with bone meal and saplings,
02:48 but rather let's break down those bone meal trees
02:50 and use the materials to make a few custom ones of our own.
02:52 By using oak wood instead of oak logs,
02:55 we can keep the bark texture on all sides
02:57 and have our tree look a lot more realistic
02:58 when we make a unique trunk like so.
03:00 And then if we add in different slabs and fences
03:02 like this user does,
03:03 we can mix in plenty of variety to our branches,
03:06 which lets us make a nice looking custom tree
03:08 at basically any size that you want.
03:09 And for an extra bonus tip,
03:11 you can go even further
03:12 and use your custom trees with walls instead.
03:14 No joke, from a distance,
03:15 diorite walls look like birch logs,
03:17 and that'll let us create these extra thin trees
03:19 to line up the base.
03:20 And I think the last bit of vegetation
03:22 that we should add to our house
03:23 is a pretty lawn outside of the base.
03:25 We can break up this monotony
03:26 by using moss blocks and grass blocks in tandem.
03:29 Since with a mix of these,
03:30 we can make it look as if we mowed the lawn in nice stripes.
03:33 This is what our house looked like
03:34 at the beginning of the video,
03:35 and this is what it looks like now.
03:36 But the other parts of our base are severely lacking.
03:39 So let's head over to our mine first and get that fixed up.
03:42 And to even get over there in the first place,
03:44 let's start to build out a nice looking path
03:46 that'll take us right from our lawn
03:47 over to what's gonna be our quarry.
03:49 We gotta make this look as good as our house does.
03:51 And first to do that,
03:52 we're gonna need to clean up the staircase.
03:54 So as we widen the staircase to dig down into the mines,
03:56 we can choose to mix up the staircase blocks
03:58 with extra details that line the actual stairs,
04:01 such as slabs, candles,
04:02 or even upside down stairs like this
04:04 for an alternating pattern.
04:05 And once we've made that staircase
04:06 down to the bottom of the branch mine,
04:08 let's start to clean up this tunnel.
04:09 Because with just a few support beams like this,
04:12 we can make it look as if the roof
04:13 isn't about to cave in anytime soon.
04:15 And now that we've completely changed the underground,
04:17 let's head up to the surface,
04:18 'cause there's still one change left that I wanna make.
04:20 Because while our stairs look great,
04:21 we do still need to house them in something.
04:23 Otherwise, they're just gonna look out of place.
04:25 And the best way to do that
04:26 is by adding in a biome-specific entrance to the mine.
04:29 That way, we're not just leaving an open tunnel or quarry,
04:32 but instead, it looks like we dug into the ground
04:33 with a purpose.
04:34 And after digging all those blocks down in the mine,
04:36 we can put those materials to use
04:38 and start to upgrade our farm as well.
04:39 But by this point,
04:40 I think we deserve a better way across the water
04:42 than just swimming over there.
04:44 So let's give ourselves a simple bridge to connect the path.
04:46 And for that,
04:47 I think this design using extinguished campfires
04:49 should do the trick.
04:50 We could even turn them around
04:51 and add some different orientation to their wood planks,
04:53 which definitely looks nicer
04:54 than having a one wide spruce plank bridge over the water.
04:57 Even though our new bridge looks great,
04:59 it doesn't lead to that pretty of a farm.
05:01 And while it looks awkward
05:02 to have our farmland out and about like this,
05:04 if we add in trap doors around the plots,
05:06 then we can make it look like planters boxes.
05:08 And that even gives us a way
05:09 to compartmentalize our different crops,
05:11 which is functional,
05:12 but it's still too clean for the farm.
05:14 So to add in some extra realism,
05:15 let's plant our crops in a row like this.
05:17 That way, we use the dirt on either end of the farming rows
05:20 to look like the walking lanes
05:21 that you use to tend to the crops.
05:23 We still need a place to hold our farming tools and seeds.
05:25 And for that,
05:26 I think adding in a little storage shed like this
05:28 will make it look a lot nicer
05:29 than just having our chests and barrels out in the open.
05:32 And personally,
05:32 I like this idea of using signs
05:34 for an extra depth off the back,
05:35 and all the while having it look like wooden planks
05:37 are holding together the back of the barrel.
05:39 And now for the centerpiece of this whole farm,
05:41 let's build ourselves a nice big windmill,
05:43 which will not only give us a place to sleep
05:44 for some safety out there,
05:46 but it can also give us a proper spot
05:47 to house the different animals that we'll need in the farm.
05:50 And after adding our cows into a farm on their own,
05:52 let's go one step further
05:53 and place down this design for an industrial-sized milk tank,
05:56 which will not only fit in
05:57 with the different kind of redstone farmers
05:59 that we might build,
06:00 but it also gives us a use for any of the copper
06:02 that we might've grabbed while we were digging out the mine.
06:04 But with all of that built,
06:05 we're still gonna need a place to store our stuff.
06:07 So let's build out a new warehouse building
06:09 to keep all of the items that we've been collecting.
06:11 And then once we've got our exterior done,
06:13 we can go inside
06:14 and add in this new expandable storage system.
06:16 Now, what we've got here uses redstone comparators
06:19 to give an indication of the chest capacity.
06:21 So whether we're storing a bunch of cobblestone
06:23 from our mining trip or a load of wheat from the new farm,
06:25 this will give us an indicator
06:26 of how many of the chests that we've filled up.
06:28 And to make it even more clear what we've got inside,
06:30 let's sneak a couple of these in.
06:31 By mixing an item frame with a sign,
06:33 we can choose to label our chest with both text
06:35 and a visual indicator of the block inside,
06:37 almost giving ourselves a pop-up book effect.
06:39 And make sure to save a few more of those item frames,
06:42 because if we choose to put those
06:43 in between the chests like this,
06:45 it'll look as if they're glued together.
06:46 And when you've got a big row of chests like we got here,
06:48 that'll make those tiny gaps in between them
06:50 a lot less noticeable.
06:52 And while that all helps to make
06:53 our bulk storage look the best, what about our valuables?
06:55 Let's step outside and I'll show you this new trap door,
06:58 which if we flip like so,
06:59 can grant us access into a new secret basement.
07:02 That way, we can still keep all of our goods
07:03 within the storage building,
07:05 but we don't have to be too obvious about it.
07:06 And that'll give us the perfect place
07:08 to keep all this netherite that we're crafting up,
07:10 or rather the netherite that we would craft
07:12 if we had a nether portal.
07:13 So let's fix that problem.
07:15 And to do that, we're gonna need two things to show off.
07:17 A supersized nether portal and a supersized hallway
07:20 to get us to that nether portal.
07:21 And as we dig out the tunnel
07:22 to build this new nether portal,
07:24 we can line the walls of the cave
07:25 with all the different tips that we learned from earlier.
07:27 Pillars for support, hanging lanterns,
07:29 the whole nine yards.
07:30 And once we reach the end,
07:31 it's finally time to build out our new centerpiece,
07:34 the nether portal.
07:34 Now, personally, I like the idea
07:36 of blending in the nether portal with a facade.
07:38 And once we've blended it in,
07:40 our nether portal really looks like something to see,
07:42 but we can't just have it look good on the overworld side.
07:44 So let's head through and teleport over
07:46 to the nether as well.
07:47 And if we're gonna pretty up the other dimension,
07:49 I love this idea of having the nether side
07:51 mirror what we build in the overworld.
07:52 Almost as if we're walking into a parallel dimension.
07:55 And while it is gonna double the amount of blocks
07:56 that we're using here,
07:57 the results are clearly worth it.
07:59 And once we've done that,
08:00 we can head out of our new nether portal,
08:01 grab ourselves the ancient debris,
08:03 and then finally craft it for the netherite
08:04 that we need in the valuables room.
08:06 Oh, and maybe save a few extra ingots
08:08 for your netherite tools,
08:09 because this next step is gonna be our biggest yet.
08:11 Because we're gonna take what we learned
08:13 and make this house even bigger.
08:14 As any worthwhile builder will tell you,
08:16 having an impressive spectacle
08:18 is just as important as the little details.
08:20 So that's why we could take these new skills
08:21 and start to supersize our base.
08:23 Which is not only gonna be useful for wowing your friends,
08:25 but it also makes for a better before and after
08:27 on your building tutorial.
08:29 Here's how our base looked at the start,
08:30 and here's how it looks today.
08:32 And with that, folks,
08:32 YouTube thinks that you might like this video.
08:34 So see if they're right and have a good one, all right?
