00:00 Makeup is fun and women love to play with makeup.
00:02 But for Pamela Anderson, the fun has worn off
00:05 in recent years.
00:06 It's very, very touching.
00:08 While the Baywatch alum's blonde bombshell looks
00:11 helped turn her into an icon.
00:13 CJ Parker.
00:15 There was someone behind the scenes
00:16 who helped craft the now trademark look.
00:19 Makeup artist to the stars Alexis Vogel,
00:21 who was Pam's go-to glam expert going back decades.
00:25 Well, we've been together for over 20 years.
00:27 She shot some of the first Playboy covers
00:29 and a lot of my Playboy stuff
00:30 and a lot of the really big bombshell everything.
00:33 Sadly, Alexis died after a battle
00:35 with breast cancer in 2019.
00:38 And for heartbroken Pam, it marked the end of an era.
00:41 The 56-year-old tells Elle magazine,
00:43 "She was the best.
00:44 "And since then, I just felt without Alexis,
00:47 "it's just better for me not to wear makeup."
00:49 Other makeup artists have done my makeup
00:51 and just something just doesn't quite go right.
00:53 With Alexis' expertise, Pam's looks defined
00:56 a decade of style and glam.
00:59 That celebs are still channeling today.
01:01 I said, "Give me like young Pam Anderson vibes.
01:04 "Just tease the hair and all."
01:06 Across her career, Alexis also did makeup
01:08 for Sharon Stone, Gwen Stefani,
01:10 Anna Nicole Smith, and Shana Moechler.
01:13 Who, after Alexis died at the age of 61,
01:15 mourned her friend on Twitter,
01:17 calling Alexis a beautiful, kind spirit
01:20 who revolutionized makeup.
01:22 I wanna take control of the narrative
01:25 for the first time.
01:26 Yeah, in 2023, Pam's telling her story
01:29 like never before in her memoir, Love, Pamela.
01:32 You have to be brave and you gotta use what you got.
01:36 Why can't we be the heroes in our own life story?
01:40 And the Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story,
01:43 produced by her son, Brandon.
01:46 I mean, the book is just my feelings about everything.
01:48 I mean, I wrote the book and I wanted
01:50 to really focus on that.
01:51 And then Brandon, you know, he had the archives
01:54 and we never planned on releasing
01:55 these two things together, by the way.
01:57 I was writing my book, my memoirs,
01:59 and Brandon also convinced me to do that.
02:01 He can talk me into anything.
02:03 And so we just decided to release it.
02:05 That's not true, but almost.
02:07 We decided to release everything on the same day
02:09 just because it was already happening.
02:13 I'm sure I'm not finished.
02:14 But I have no idea what I'm gonna do next.
02:19 But I kinda like this moment right now
02:20 where I have no clue what's gonna happen.
02:23 Maybe I'll know next week.
02:26 This feels like kind of a surreal,
02:29 divine timing, redemptive feeling.
02:33 It just feels surreal.
02:37 Also surreal for Pam, watching her looks evolve
02:40 as she gets older.
02:41 Back in the Elle profile, she admits,
02:43 "I'm kind of laughing when I look at the mirror.
02:45 "It's a journey."
02:46 We need to reawaken something.
02:50 As for Pamela's makeup aesthetic today,
02:52 she labels it freeing and fun and a little rebellious too.
02:56 See? Ba-ba-boom.
02:58 (cymbal crashing)
03:01 [BELL RINGING]
