00:00 A local restaurant is also stepping up to help families who lost everything in the Maui
00:05 wildfires.
00:06 The restaurant donating 100% of its profits today to the fire victims there.
00:11 23 ABC's Ruby Rivera has more on their efforts and the community's response.
00:16 Our community has actually reached out and wants to give back and wants to make a donation
00:24 to Maui.
00:27 It really filled my heart because my heart was breaking to see that this is going on
00:33 in Maui.
00:34 Bakersfield native Leilani Delamina says when she originally heard about Maui Fuzz efforts,
00:39 she never imagined it would go as well as it did on Wednesday.
00:43 Seven people occupied her aunt's home in Lahaina.
00:45 After the fire, Delamina says only the back house was still standing.
00:49 On Tuesday morning, there was no power at the house and once again, high winds.
00:58 This is in the garage area at my aunt's house in Lahaina.
01:02 Delamina's doesn't work at Maui Fuzz but was seen helping out workers.
01:05 I spoke with some restaurant goers who know Delamina's personally and they said this is
01:09 simply her giving personality.
01:11 Other people I spoke with said their support stems from how the owners treat people on
01:15 a daily basis.
01:16 Delamina is such a generous person in this community.
01:21 We got to support her.
01:22 She has a big heart for a lot of different people in our community and so we heard about
01:29 this and we tried to get the word out.
01:30 Buying a meal and I'm just going to give any relief at all to them.
01:31 We have a wonderful community at Bakersfield.
01:32 I mean they just, something like this, Bakersfield is amazing.
01:33 Things like this too.
01:45 Owner Lynn Chan was seen all over the restaurant on Wednesday, greeting tables while also helping
01:49 people in the kitchen.
01:50 Chan says she is absolutely overwhelmed with the turnout but incredibly grateful.
01:54 I'm really, really happy that they all show up.
02:00 Everyone here heard about it on Facebook and they're very supportive and I'm very, very
02:06 grateful that they do that.
02:08 Delamina says thankfully her family is safe and is currently residing in Oahu but unfortunately
02:13 that isn't the case for everyone.
02:15 She says she can't thank the community enough and is truly proud to be a part of the Bakersfield
02:19 community.
02:20 It's just amazing to see that my own community is here, just able to give what they can and
02:31 I mean thank you, thank you Bakersfield, thank you Maui FAA.
02:35 Delamina says while Maui is heavily dependent on tourism, she wants people to give them
02:39 space and allow them to rebuild.
02:41 She also wants people to continue to support victims of Lahaina after Maui FAA's efforts.
02:46 In Bakersfield, Rubir Vara, 23 ABC News, connecting you.
