00:00 We can see how the town of Manila Bay changed its reclamation from 1982
00:06 in the maps obtained by GMA Integrated News.
00:09 And if some of the projects that were stopped by the President will continue,
00:13 their shape will change again.
00:16 Maki Polido was on the spot.
00:18 It seems that Manila Bay Sunset itself did not change.
00:25 But the look of Manila has changed over time.
00:29 And it's more visible when you look at some of its maps.
00:32 Manila Bay was like this in 1982 based on the map obtained by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority or NAMRIA.
00:40 At that time, it was built by the local government like the TICC.
00:45 In the map of 2003, we can see that the reclamation in Pasay and Parañaque is already done
00:51 where there are giant malls and casino complexes.
00:55 If we compare it to the map, this is the extent of the reclamation.
01:00 This is the target that they will reclaim.
01:05 But there are more than 20 reclamation projects that will be added so the map will be like this.
01:11 In this map obtained by the Philippine Reclamation Authority in February,
01:15 more than 300 hectares will be built in front of Rojas Boulevard where the famous Manila Bay Sunset is seen.
01:22 This is the question that the US Embassy is questioning because it is blacklisted to go to America
01:26 because of the construction of artificial islands in the West Philippine Sea.
01:29 The company has already denied this behind the project.
01:32 Behind this, there are more than 400 hectares of reclamation.
01:36 While the two projects are next to each other, the more than 100 hectares of reclamation project.
01:40 In Pasay City, more than 600 hectares will be built.
01:44 This includes the more than 300 hectares of extension of a mall in Pasay.
01:49 For now, the President stopped the process of reviewing the new reclamation projects.
01:54 But if this continues, the shape of Manila Bay will change again.
01:58 The Philippine Reclamation Authority or PRA has not yet announced a new project.
02:02 But it has already said that these projects have already passed the right process.
02:06 The projects were approved from 2019 to 2021, the time of the former President Rodrigo Duterte.
02:13 But some of them were initiated by the local government like Manila.
02:17 The City Hall does not want to give an announcement yet,
02:20 but their spokesperson Princess Abante said that Manila wants this
02:25 so that the city will have more space.
02:27 This is also one of the reasons why Pasay City Hall has reclamation.
02:32 Congressman Antonino Calixto said that he was the mayor when he started asking for permission for reclamation.
02:37 If the land of Pasay is added, the income of their city will also double.
02:42 We got the notice from different departments, from the D.N.R. until we got the notice from the city.
02:54 It took about 6 to 7 years.
02:57 The D.N.R. does not want to give an announcement.
