00:00 A group requested to return the travel of buses to EDSA before the pandemic.

00:12 This is how it was in EDSA before the pandemic.

00:18 More than 3,000 buses were passing by.

00:20 In 2020, due to the pandemic,

00:23 only one route was built for the metro buses.

00:26 Only 550 buses were allowed in the EDSA bus carousel.

00:31 Others were moved by the route.

00:33 But now, the bus operators want to get the two last lanes here in EDSA,

00:41 including the bike lane, and break down the EDSA bus carousel.

00:46 In their consultation with LTFRB, they were surprised.

00:49 They were disappointed with the other routes they were moving.

00:52 They also removed the State of Public Health Emergency,

00:55 so the original routes of the EDSA buses should be returned.

00:59 That is our lane.

01:01 We were able to get rid of the EDSA bus carousel because of the pandemic.

01:05 Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said before that

01:08 EDSA bus carousel will not be removed.

01:11 The operation will be done privately.

01:13 According to the bus operators, they cannot break down the carousel.

01:18 We will be trained not to walk.

01:21 Because it's only 27 kilometers.

01:26 If you stick the bus, it's 12 meters.

01:31 In their consultation, they will have red and blue buses with bus stops.

01:37 They also want to return the 14 bus stops in the opposite side of EDSA.

01:46 According to the Metro Manila Development Authority or MMDA in Panucala,

01:51 currently, more than 400,000 buses are in EDSA every day.

01:56 They run between 21 to 24 kilometers per hour, which is faster than before the pandemic.

02:09 They also said that there are only two lanes left for private vehicles.

02:14 We did lane dieting, meaning we reduced the size of each lane to accommodate the bike lanes.

02:29 The group of cyclists also learned that there are more people who are relying on bike lanes

02:34 because more people are used to alternative transportation like motorcycles and bikes.

02:41 According to a dry cash study, the results of 2021,

02:46 seven out of ten are using alternative modes of transport, meaning bikes, e-bikes, compared to private cars,
